“Miss, what are your orders?” the servant inquired.

“You can start cooking now; follow my menu. If you can’t get it right in the time it takes to burn a small incense stick, you can all go home,” she commanded.

The servants hastily complied, meticulously following the menu given by Qin Shi Li, who had done her research and knew what Lin Nuo enjoyed to eat.

For a pampered young lady, she wouldn’t usually cook herself; after all, she was self-aware enough to know her culinary skills needed improvement. There were dishes Lin Nuo liked that she couldn’t yet cook well.

Nevertheless, she was learning and improving, so surely in the near future, she’d be able to whip up his favorite meals.

Qin Shi Li didn’t return to Lin Nuo’s room but instead took a seat on a stool in the kitchen, slightly crossing her elegant long black silk legs, urging the servants to speed up.

Compared to other dishes, sautéing cabbage was relatively simple. As a first-time maid, it was great for her to cook a dish on her own.

They already had the cabbage prepped, so all she needed was to toss it into the pot.

She added oil, tossed in the cabbage, added water, and a series of motions later, cooking over a high flame, it was soon done. She added seasoning and mixed it all together before plating.

Although her cooking process was on point, she didn’t control the heat well; the sautéed cabbage looked mediocre and tasted just passable.

“Is there more cabbage?” Qin Shi Li asked.

“There is, Miss.”

The servant promptly brought over the selected cabbage,

“Do you want to cook more, Miss?”

“Yes, I’m not satisfied.”

“I think what you made looks quite good, Miss.”

“Not satisfied means not satisfied; dump it.”

Qin Shi Li said coldly, then redirected her focus to the next batch of cabbage, aiming to make it perfect this time.

The servant had no choice and obliged, tossing the cabbage away.

Qin Shi Li attempted to cook several batches of cabbage, but none met her standards. Before she realized it, the other servants had completed all the other dishes.

“Miss, we’re done with the dishes. Would you like to try…?” One servant asked softly, just as Qin Shi Li finished frying another batch of cabbage, which this time looked and tasted a bit better, but still paled in comparison to the dishes prepared by the other cooks.

Now what? Should she start over? Or give up and let the servants continue?

After some thought, Qin Shi Li concluded that Lin Nuo must be hungry and waiting for food, so she couldn’t make him wait any longer.

Whatever, she’d use what she just made; it was at least edible, and if he didn’t want it, there were other dishes.

“Alright, not bad. I’ll take it over now.”

“Yes,” Qin Shi Li answered, expression unchanged, nodding.

“Which should I eat first? I’ll feed you.”

“Start with the first dish on the left, stir-fried bell pepper with pork strips, and take a bit of everything.”

“Alright.”

Qin Shi Li began to scoop a piece of pork strip, blowing on it to cool it down before offering it to Lin Nuo, who opened his mouth and took a bite.

“How is it?” she asked.

“It’s alright.”

Then she continued, feeding him the dishes, asking how each one tasted, to which he always replied, “It’s alright.”

When it came to her sautéed cabbage, Lin Nuo bit into it, chewed for a while, but didn’t swallow or respond.

Qin Shi Li felt a bit tense; perhaps she truly had cooked it poorly, putting him in a difficult position.

“If it tastes bad, just spit it out; I’ll dump it,” she offered.

“It’s not bad,” Lin Nuo calmly replied.

“Still okay, have a couple more bites.”

“Stop saying what you don’t mean.”

“Why didn’t you say that about the other dishes?”

“Because…”

Qin Shi Li paused for a moment before continuing,

“This one I cooked poorly.”

“Compared to the others, I like this stir-fried cabbage the best. It’s nothing, just think of it as my unique taste,” Lin Nuo said nonchalantly.
