Chapter 309: Where Did That Egg Come From!? (Please Subscribe!)
The return journey went smoothly without any incidents.
Izay and his group chatted happily on their way back, not lingering on any floor. They only took a brief rest on the eighteenth level and managed to return to the surface before nightfall.
A golden moon floated in the sky as the sun had already set, spreading a deep blue night sky over Orario. The Labyrinth City, flooded with Magic Stones’ light, sparkled brilliantly like an open treasure chest.
At the center of the city, near the entrance of Babel Tower located at Central Square, a seven-member team emerged with relaxed expressions and smiles.
After several days away, Izay took a deep breath of relief upon stepping onto the ground again. He pulled the fully loaded supporter backpack from behind to the front and patted what was inside.
Besides precious spoils of war, there was also a special “item” placed inside. This Dungeon exploration trip was truly fruitful!
“Izay, what is that you’re holding?”
“…Isn’t it obviously a backpack?”
Walking beside him, Ais caught sight of the completely bulging flip-top supporter backpack and suddenly became curious.
The girl wasn’t looking for such an obvious answer; she was interested in what was inside the backpack.
“This…what is it?”
Ais leaned closer, pointing at the gap where the top of the backpack was being pushed up. There was something white with light blue patterns.
To be precise…it looked like some kind of “shell.”
However, Ais didn’t remember any monsters in the Dungeon dropping items of this color, so she couldn’t help but ask.
“Hmm…this…” Izay coughed twice awkwardly.
He hadn’t had this thing for long, and its mystery hadn’t even warmed up yet when it was discovered by the sharp-eyed natural maiden.
But since it was found out, Izay didn’t plan to hide it anymore. Anyway, they were always together at Twilight Manor, and they would eventually find out.
Reaching out to open the latch of the backpack’s flap, Izay revealed its true form.
“It’s an egg.”
“—An egg!!?!”
Suddenly, everyone else in the team turned their attention over.
Since they were all close together, it was quiet at night, and there was no attempt to conceal their conversation, naturally allowing them to hear the exchange between the two.
The moment Izay said this word, everyone immediately looked over.
On the upper layer of the supporter backpack filled with blue-purple Magic Stones and dropped items, there was a completely white egg adorned with light blue patterns sitting there.
If measured using standard volume units…it might be about the size of two Kaname’s heads…
This standard size was from Izay’s perspective. Finn and the others didn’t know this standard, so their ways of viewing it were different.
In Finn’s eyes, this egg was roughly the size of a human infant.
But what truly surprised them wasn’t this!
It was that Izay brought back an “egg” from the Dungeon!?
What the heck—?
Are there egg-laying monsters in the Dungeon? Aren’t they all directly catalyzed into existence by the Dungeon’s energy without going through a growth period?
Where did the “egg” come from?
“Izay, where did you get this?” Finn asked, barely suppressing the twitching of his eye, his expression quite peculiar.
Riviria’s situation was similar to his.
Mom-san was hesitating—organizing her words—hesitating again—thinking slightly…then she forgot what she wanted to say.
It was rare to see the usually composed vice-captain lose her composure.
“Hmm…I found it!” Izay answered without hesitation when questioned by the Halfling Tribe Leader.
At times like this, one must not hesitate; even the slightest hesitation would indicate guilt!
So, just be confident!
“Found…found it???” Finn was somewhat disarrayed.
When did he find it? How did he not know?
“Wow, you actually found it? Izay is so amazing!” Tiona exclaimed with shining eyes, inexplicably excited.
For this comment, Izay momentarily couldn’t tell if she was praising him or mocking him.
Then Tione beside him smacked her head hard: “Idiot Tiona! You should be questioning this! Can you really find eggs in the Dungeon?”
“Could it be some monster’s egg?” Refia asked suspiciously.
Her reaction was closest to reality. Honest little fairies are always the easiest to tease~!
“I don’t think so!” Izay shook his head seriously.
Joking, if this thing could hatch a Dungeon monster…he, Izay, would eat it right then and there!
“I don’t think so either…” At this point, Ais stepped forward to support Izay.
Setting aside her absolute trust in Izay, the girl herself had grounds for judgment.
Possibly due to her Magic (actually Fairy bloodline and Skills), she had an extraordinary perception of monsters in the Dungeon.
Though she couldn’t compare with Izay, judging whether something was related to monsters was more than enough.
Her intuition told her that the creature inside this egg was not a monster.
“To be honest, both Izay’s and Ais’ judgments are based on evidence. The Dungeon, which typically produces monsters directly, shouldn’t have something like an ‘egg.'”
“However, we can’t deny that Refia’s conjecture follows normal logic. Personally, I won’t comment on this matter. I just want to ask, Izay, do you intend to take this thing home?”
Finn viewed the matter rationally, though his tone was a bit complicated?
Or perhaps it was admiration.
To have such a find in the Dungeon?
Izay really gave them a big surprise.
Who would have thought you could find an egg in the Dungeon?
What it hatches into is unknown, but maybe this is the “romance” of adventure~
The Halfling boy chuckled softly in his heart.
“Ah, let’s take it home and try raising it, see what it hatches into.” Izay replied with a smile.
Actually, he didn’t know what kind of creature was inside. This “egg” was actually one of the rewards after completing the trial mission.
The task indicated that traditional Level 6 Dungeon monsters wouldn’t count.
However, things like Tree Dragon Fairies seemed to work against common sense.
After defeating it, Izay’s trial mission was considered complete, but he delayed claiming the reward until their return journey.
As for this “egg” that suddenly appeared in his backpack, Finn and the others didn’t notice a thing during the trip.
“This unexpected response…”
“Since you’ve decided, Izay…”
Finn sighed helplessly, clearly deciding to let it go. Riviria didn’t say anything either.
After all, Izay always knew his limits when doing things, whether it was studying or other aspects, never causing her worry, so there was no need to fret unnecessarily.
