Chapter 31: The Headpat Attack

Chapter 31: The Headpat Attack

After discussing with Aierjisi about pretending to be a couple to deceive Reina, Yake decided to take her downstairs to do some couple-like activities. The act had to be convincing; otherwise, what would he tell Reina? “Mom, I’ve successfully pushed Aier out of the way!” As if! Reina would likely scoff, “Yeah, right! I’ve known you long enough to see how you handle women. Go back and properly pursue Little Aier!”

With no choice but to trick his mother, Yake had to turn his act with Aierjisi into reality.

“Mom, Aier and I are going out to play. We might not be back until dinner, so no need to save any for us.”

After greeting Reina, who was still tidying up the courtyard, Yake took Aierjisi and left home.

“Huh? Out to play? Has Yake finally wised up? Is he actually going to make a move on Little Aier? No way, I need to follow them and see for myself. Xier!”

Reina set down her tasks and called out to the house.

“What’s wrong, Mom?”

Moments later, Xier appeared at the window, peering down at Reina in the courtyard.

“Quick, change clothes and come with me. I need to see if that rascal Yake has actually figured things out!”

Reina dashed inside to change into her disguise, while Xier followed behind, ready to see what Yake was up to.

Meanwhile, completely unaware of the two following them, Yake and Aierjisi were strolling hand-in-hand through the small town. While it seemed like he was taking Aierjisi out for fun, in reality…

“Here you go, the blue Hawaiian-flavored smoothie you wanted.”

Yake handed Aierjisi the smoothie she asked for.

“Wow, thanks! As expected of my servant, handling everything so well!”

Aierjisi accepted the smoothie and promptly took a spoonful, eagerly tasting it.

“Mmm… Is this a smoothie? Indeed, human countries are so interesting! I never imagined frozen treats could be this delicious. Once I revive the Blood Clan, my first decree will be to have this tasty smoothie every day.”

Lost in the sweetness and chill, Aierjisi couldn’t help but smile.

“Don’t you have these in your Blood Clan’s territory?”

“No. Our Blood Clan doesn’t have a culture like humans. The only things we can eat every day, besides Magical Beast meat, are blood. My people only focus on gaining strength and replenishing energy. Even as the Blood Clan Princess, I’m no exception.”

Reflecting on those days spent in the Royal Palace, where her life revolved around eating, sleeping, and training to increase her power, Aierjisi became fascinated with the culture that developed in human countries.

“I see… it must have been tough for you…”

Trying to comfort the Little Princess, Yake reached out and patted her head.

“Here it comes! The Headpat Attack!”

From not far away, Reina and Xier observed Yake’s headpat.

“I can’t believe he actually used one of the top three pickup skills, the Headpat Attack! Looks like Yake really has wised up! Sniff, I might finally get to see the day Yake gets married!”

“Mom, it’s just a headpat. It’s a bit early to jump to conclusions. Let’s keep watching for now.”

“Hmm, you’re right. It’s just a headpat; we can’t say for sure yet. Let’s see what happens next.”

Reina and Xier continued to watch closely, waiting for Yake to make another move that would wow them.

“Mmm…”

“What’s wrong?”

Noticing that Aierjisi seemed a bit uncomfortable, Yake wondered if his headpat had upset her. He quickly withdrew his hand.

“It’s nothing. It’s just that when you patted my head, it reminded me of my Father King. When I was little, he often did that to me as a form of praise.”

Aierjisi put down her spoon and the smoothie, gazing up at the sky in memory of her father. Having been sealed away for 300 years, she had no idea if he was still alive after the Blood Clan’s sudden disappearance.

“Aier, what kind of person is your Father King?”

Curious about Aierjisi’s father, Yake wanted to learn more about the ruler of the Blood Clan. From what he read in books, the Blood Clan king was rumored to be quite the tyrant.

“My Father King is the greatest man in the world, without a doubt.”

When it comes to her father’s achievements, Aierjisi could speak for days. Since she started remembering things, she heard countless praises for her father in the Royal Palace, hailed as the mightiest of all Blood Clan kings. He never let his people down, gaining immense respect both at home and abroad.

Because of this, Aierjisi would never forgive Harker. If it weren’t for the betrayal of that traitor, the Blood Clan wouldn’t have vanished overnight. That damned traitor destroyed everything her father built in a single night.

“I see…”

Listening to Aierjisi’s description of her father, Yake began to understand. For the Blood Clan, their king was wise and respected, but for rival nations, he was undoubtedly a terrifying demon. No wonder human books portrayed the Blood Clan king as a cruel monarch.

“So I’ve decided that no matter what, I must revive the Blood Clan, I cannot let my father’s legacy fade away.”

Aierjisi took another spoonful of the smoothie.

“By the way, Yake, what about your father? What kind of person is he?”

After sharing about her father, Aierjisi asked about Yake’s dad. Having spent a month in his house, she had yet to see Yake’s father, except in the family portrait. Under normal circumstances, it seemed likely that Yake’s father was no longer alive.

“My father? He’s a really strong Adventurer, quite famous in the Adventurer community. Because of that, he gets a lot of attention from the Kingdom. Right now, he’s working in the capital, exploring some ancient Ruins. I became an Adventurer because I admired him so much. He often writes to us, complaining that the workload in the capital is too heavy and suffocating.”
