Chapter 311

Chapter 314: Izay: I made a quick dodge! (Please subscribe!)

It has now been confirmed that the series of incidents involving the Loki Familia are all interconnected. The biggest issue is not knowing who’s orchestrating them from behind the scenes. Although the female beast tamer, a key piece in the puzzle, has been exposed, there’s still no clear lead on her.

“Can we rule out any involvement from the Guild, Loki?”

Riviria was keen to know if there was any connection between the man-eating flower monsters smuggled to the surface during the Monster Festival and the Guild. After all, sneaking such potentially dangerous monsters out of the Dungeon would be easier with covert Guild assistance.

The Guild’s influence shouldn’t be underestimated, even though it doesn’t appear to have any overt combat capabilities.

“The Guild? Unlikely. I met with Uranus privately before. He seemed to be hiding something, but I think they’re probably not directly involved.”

“Instead, during our investigation of the underground sewers with Bert, we encountered a suspicious individual who dumped his hot potato onto me.”

Loki recounted her recent impromptu meeting with Uranus, including her interaction with the deity Dionysus, sharing both the intelligence and explanations he provided. On the surface, Finn and the others felt the Guild could be considered innocent, at least according to Loki’s judgment. But as for Dionysus…

None present had much experience dealing with this particular deity. Even Loki, who barely knew him beyond being a superficial divine acquaintance, wasn’t sure about him.

“Dionysus, do you have any thoughts on him, Izay?”

“Huh? Me?”

Loki’s sudden inquiry surprised Izay, who hadn’t planned to voice his opinion. But Loki gave him a matter-of-fact look: “Who else? I remember, don’t you associate with that elf sister from the Dionysus household? You two seem pretty close…”

At this, Izay replied dryly: “We’re just friends of friends, actually. Philais and I aren’t that familiar.”

“Ohhhhh— Calling her by name yet claiming unfamiliarity? Don’t make me laugh! You old geezer, you’re up to something!”

“###…”

When it came to stirring up trouble, Loki was always an expert.

Eventually, Finn and Riviria couldn’t bear seeing their goddess teasing Izay anymore and stepped in to calm her down.

“Ignore Loki, Izay. If you don’t mind, could you share your personal views on the deity Dionysus? We’ll take it into consideration.”

“…Since you insist, then ‘hypocritical’ would be my assessment. That’s all I can think of.”

“‘Hypocritical’… huh?”

Finn took note of Izay’s response thoughtfully. He had asked because Izay generally maintained good relations with various deities and hoped for some insightful commentary.

But he didn’t expect such a concise and pointed answer.

The Halfling Tribe Leader took this viewpoint into account and then switched roles with Loki, proceeding to explain what had transpired in the Dungeon. Naturally, they sought opinions from Izay and Ais since only they had direct contact with the female beast tamer.

During the discussion, the keyword “Aria” surfaced, which touched upon Ais’s background, causing Loki and Finn some concern.

Within the Loki Familia, there was an unwritten rule: no one delved deeply into each other’s pasts; they focused solely on the present.

As Loki put it: everyone lived in the moment, and the past was already gone, so it wasn’t important anymore.

In reality, this unspoken rule existed to accommodate members with painful histories. For instance, Bert carried scars rather than fangs, Tione and Tiona escaped from the fighting arena nation, and Ais inherited fairy bloodlines.

Those aware of these stories kept them secret, while those unaware respected others’ privacy enough not to inquire.

Among these secrets was Ais’s lineage, known only to Loki and the three leaders, perhaps noticed faintly by the ancient deity Uranus.

Now, with Izay present during deliberations, Loki and Finn hesitated whether to let another person in on this knowledge.

They were unsure if Ais wanted Izay to know her origins, making it difficult for them to broach the subject.

However, they overthought it.

While they pondered, Ais had already confessed everything to Izay herself, albeit somewhat hesitantly.

Clearly, Ais didn’t care if Izay knew her origins, prompting Finn to cover his face in amusement.

He’d misjudged the situation!

Compared to their leader, Gress sat comfortably in his chair stroking his beard, while Riviria’s smile hinted towards a maternal tone.

“But Izay, I must admit, I’m slightly impressed that you remained so calm after hearing Ais’s story. You don’t seem surprised at all?” Loki leaned forward curiously.

After some thought, Izay shrugged: “Well… I was genuinely shocked inside.”

“Really? Why can’t I tell?”

“Because I hid it well?”

Izay said this with utmost seriousness, but Loki still looked unconvinced.

Finally, Izay sighed.

“To be honest, whether or not Ais has fairy blood means absolutely nothing to me. Ais is Ais, after all~”

Would Ais change into someone else because of her heritage? He added, taking the chance to ruffle the girl’s golden hair.

Even before they met, Izay had known about the fairy bloodline. But did their friendship and bond stem from that?

Absolutely not!

So, following his heart, Izay truly didn’t care.

Upon hearing this, Loki finally understood his mindset and nodded.

Indeed, the kid wasn’t really surprised at all!

But those words earlier… they resonated with her a little…

This brought Loki some comfort?

Still…

“Izay! How long do you plan to keep touching her!? Let go— RUA—!!”

“Huh!? I made a quick dodge!”
