Chapter 314: The Blood Princess (4k)
The Three Hundred Heroes.
As the name suggests, it is a record of over three hundred heroes.
Diana had always been interested in heroes, especially female ones.
Therefore, when Professor Claire Kate and Professor Ryan Hux appeared at the academy, she found this book of heroes in the library.
This six-hundred-page book documented each hero during wartime, with half a page dedicated to each hero’s portrait.
Flipping through “The Three Hundred Heroes,” the first entry was the hero Brett Gold.
Following him was the Valkyrie Alvaraite Saint Diemond.
Further down…
Diana quickly flipped through the pages, finally finding who she was looking for!
When she took out the book, Dak had already guessed.
Upon closer inspection, he indeed found that Diana had discovered a female hero.
“Look, I told you! She has the exact same blood pattern on her face!” Diana pointed excitedly at the portrait in the book.
Dak and Rose leaned in closer.
Their auras mixed slightly, like fermenting grape wine.
Dak read the name of the female hero aloud: “Blood Princess!”
…
The author of “The Three Hundred Heroes” is unknown, but their drawing skills were impressive.
The Blood Princess in the portrait looked lifelike, as if she could step out of the book.
She was undoubtedly a captivating woman.
Her dark red hair was deep and alluring.
Her overly pale skin left a strong impression.
Her deep-set eyes and high nose bridge, paired with her petite yet sensual lips, gave her a striking presence.
However, there were blood patterns on her face.
But they weren’t as numerous and complex as described by Robert.
There was only one fine, musical note-like blood pattern starting from the corner of her left eye and extending to her jawbone.
In the middle of this blood pattern, there was indeed a symbol similar to “?”
In written records, however, she wasn’t a vampire.
Her pierced ears were not pointed like an elf’s but round like a human’s.
Her mouth in the drawing did not have fangs like a vampire.
In the written account, she couldn’t possibly be a vampire.
Ophelia Brad was the name of the Blood Princess.
She earned her title due to her lineage.
Brad was a minority tribe known as the “Blood Tribe,” who revered life-sustaining “blood.” Those with talent were born with powerful and rare “blood magic!”
Blood magic was a small branch within the vast magic system.
Simply put, it was the manipulation of blood.
Extract energy from blood.
Cause distant disturbances in the body’s blood.
Break through the body directly, turning someone into a pincushion with blood.
Even create terrifying blood beasts that feed on blood!
In terms of blood magic mastery, they were no less formidable than another well-known user—vampires!
During wartime, to counter elusive vampires, the Blood Tribe provided extensive data on blood magic for targeted protection and attacks.
For a while, the Blood Tribe was very active.
They hid under dark red cloaks, and only occasional light revealed their blood patterns, causing fear.
But even among humans, there were various strange tribes, including the Blood Tribe.
Despite cultural differences, they all shared human blood.
Facing threats to humanity, every tribe selflessly contributed in war.
Some tribes survived and thrived, while others vanished, their sacrifices immortalized in history.
The Blood Tribe was among those lost.
As the saying goes, “A big tree attracts the wind.”
When they became weapons against vampires, they also became targets.
Historical records show that during the mid-war, vampires launched a massive attack on the Blood Tribe.
The Blood Tribe couldn’t withstand the upper-class vampires’ terrifying assault and perished!
Ophelia Brad escaped unscathed because she had just enrolled at St. Maryan.
But she lost all her family members.
…
Despite such a cruel fate, Ophelia Brad didn’t sink into despair or fall. She was very kind and nurturing, with a strong maternal instinct.
However, as a hero of the Golden Generation, she was far less noticeable compared to the hero and Valkyrie.
Many people didn’t know about her existence.
Even Diana, who usually showed interest in hero biographies, learned of her from “The Three Hundred Heroes.”
This phenomenon occurred because…
It wasn’t that Ophelia Brad wasn’t strong enough.
It was because she disappeared shortly after entering the battlefield!
Ophelia Brad was recorded in “The Three Hundred Heroes” as a “sacrificed hero.”
…
“Dak, Ophelia Brad.”
After reading the brief content on two pages, Dak took a deep breath and exhaled forcefully.
“Every hero is great.”
He sighed and straightened up.
“Tomorrow, I’ll ask Robert if what he saw last night was her.”
…
Diana was delighted that she had actually helped.
She brought out her cherished candies and drinks to treat Dak, sharing her preferences and experiences.
Dak stayed briefly in her dorm before returning to his own.
The magi elves were slightly annoyed by his tardiness, chattering and asking Lil’Eevee if anything interesting happened during class.
Lil’Eevee finally smiled triumphantly.
Puffing its chest, it recounted various amusing incidents from the evening class.
Only Eevee, Ditto, and the others listened intently.
Deoxys, the Imp Beast, and the Trash Slime were excluded by language barriers.
…
Dak sat at his desk.
Connecting the events of the night with a thread.
“If Robert saw not a vampire but the Blood Princess Ophelia Brad, then he must have encountered information related to this hero. This makes more sense than a female vampire.”
“But if it wasn’t the Blood Princess?”
“If he saw a real vampire, there’s a problem here. We might need Professor Shylph to check him.”
Dak closed his notebook and silently took a deep breath.
The air was cool.
…
Late at night.
After a shower, Dak emerged from the bathroom with a mix of dampness and warmth, remembering he hadn’t done something important tonight.
He still had three chocolate boxes to open.
Today had been too eventful, leaving him both exhilarated and tired.
But some things could uplift spirits even when tired.
He picked one box.
It was a flat, square gift box.
Opening it, the distinct aroma of chocolate filled his nose.
Inside, twelve perfectly round, rabbit-shaped chocolates were neatly arranged.
Each chocolate had subtle shape differences, indicating they were handmade.
“Must be Rose’s.”
Thinking so, he found a tiny rectangular card beside it, which simply said “Rose Florette [Gift].”
Dak smiled slightly.
Meaningful items should be kept for memories.
He placed Rose’s card next to Diana’s and grabbed one of the long chocolate boxes.
Opening it, he found long, cigar-like chocolates inside.
But after biting cautiously, he discovered a surprise!
“This…”
Dak’s gaze turned strange.
He had seen chocolates with cream and alcohol, but meat floss?
Chocolate heart?
Meat heart?
Dak chuckled dryly, amused by his sudden inspiration.
Then, holding the meat floss-filled chocolate like a cigar, he found a coin-sized card inside.
The card bore Pandora’s name.
On the back, a vivid baby dragon was drawn.
…
“There’s one left.”
Dak solemnly took Little Lily’s chocolate box.
This was the final Valentine’s Day gift, hoping it wasn’t just a prank.
…
February 15th.
The day after Valentine’s Day.
Students chatted and laughed as they entered the classroom.
But upon closer inspection, nothing had changed.
At least, no new couples appeared in the first-year classrooms of the Noble Academy and Knight Academy.
It seemed they eagerly anticipated Valentine’s Day, only to end up playing a minor role?
But the final outcome wouldn’t be clear until March 14th, White Valentine’s Day.
However, students gathered to discuss who gave whom chocolates, and the results were disappointing.
Gradually, no one continued the conversation.
It felt like Valentine’s Day was already forgotten the next day.
Instead, they talked more about the heavy snow the previous day and Professor Lily’s enormous snowman!
The enchanted snowman still stood by the lake.
Rumors said a little imp snuck out of the castle late at night.
Around the snowman, glimmers of light flashed continuously.
By morning, the snowman had been transformed into a magical tool…
Truly, a stroke of genius beyond the students’ imagination.
The culprit behind this was happily announcing the completion of a new textbook on the podium—though it wasn’t finished.
Only Dak’s part was complete.
But she acted as if she had a new toy, boasting to the students.
Once bound, she would reveal even more!
She said, “After selling my soul (?) for such a treasure, how can I only show it to students? It must be promoted, so those old professors who view me with prejudice can see who truly shines at St. Maryan!”
Excited, Professor Lily showcased her skills in arithmetic class, making the young magi suffer.
…
After the arithmetic class ended, Dak waved at Robert.
“Is it about me?”
Robert walked over, puzzled. This was the first time Dak had initiated contact.
Wit hesitated for a moment before following.
Dak took out “The Three Hundred Heroes” from Diana and flipped to the page of the Blood Princess, pointing at her portrait. “How about it, Robert? Is this the female vampire you saw last night?”
Before he finished, he knew the answer.
When Robert first saw the Blood Princess’s portrait, he looked terrified, recalling the horrifying scene from last night. Trembling, he said, “Yes, it’s her! Dak, how did you find her?”
Dak frowned slightly. “Calm down, Robert. This is the Blood Princess, a hero of the same generation as the warriors. She was also a student at St. Maryan. Perhaps we can find her in the student records.”
“This female vampire is actually our senior?” Wit stepped forward, surprised and suspicious.
Dak glanced at him, pointing to the text. “She is a human from the Blood Tribe, a minority clan, not a vampire.”
“Not a vampire?” Hearing this, Robert regained his composure.
Dak wanted to nod but felt something was off, hesitating.
Robert and Wit immediately bent down to read.
The text was clear, and they soon relaxed.
Robert even laughed. “Good, she’s not a vampire. You don’t know, I had a nightmare last night, dreaming I was bitten by a vampire and turned into a blood slave! It was terrible!”
Laughing heartily, Wit beside him turned pale, clearly remembering being bitten by a vampire.
Back then, he almost became a vampire himself!
He couldn’t help saying, “Don’t worry, Robert. I’m here with you.”
…
Discovering that what he saw wasn’t a vampire, Robert visibly relaxed. He even started rambling:
“Why hasn’t Principal Altair mentioned the Blood Princess, who is a hero of the Golden Generation, during her lectures?
I’ve never seen her, yet I saw her through the fog?
Could it be that my divination ability is working, and we will encounter her in the future?
It’s a bit exciting to think about. Maybe she and I are destined, and she will be my guide. Just like Professor Metia and Eudora…”
Wit: “Hey, Robert, you talk too much.”
…
