Chapter 336: Heh
The deeper one ventures into the Northern Face of the Rootless Mystic Realm, the colder the weather becomes. What was once a vibrant summer with lush plants and abundant wildlife transforms into a desolate wasteland. Unlike normal seasons that change with time, here they shift with space. As you journey northward, the temperature drops, covering the grass and trees with a light frost. The further north you go, the thicker this frost grows.
Eventually, snow begins to fall, layer upon layer of white blanketing everything in sight. The wind howls fiercely as you approach the Bihong Lake.
“BOOM!”
A tremendous explosion echoes through the icy landscape. A group of demon-cultivators is sent flying into a tree by a kick from a woman, exploding into a mist of blood. She lowers her leg, exhales a plume of warm breath, and gives a disdainful glance at the demons she’s just killed.
But before she can relax, a figure leaps out of the snow wielding a broadsword, swinging it down hard toward her head!
As she turns to deliver a punch, an octagonal diagram of a Bagua array emerges beneath the attacker’s feet.
“BOOM!”
With another thunderous sound, the attacker vanishes completely.
“Why so careless on the battlefield, Miss Wu?” asks a gentle girl in Daoist robes, stepping out with a smile.
“THUD!”
As the gentle girl finishes speaking, Wu delivers a punch aimed directly at her head. The girl doesn’t dodge; instead, the wind from the punch grazes past her temple. Behind her, however, a shadow is thrown back, skidding across the snow.
“Miss Qin, aren’t you being too careless? After all that happened at the Heavenly Profound Gate, shouldn’t you have grown wiser? Especially not in a place like the Rootless Mystic Realm.”
Wu retracts her fighting stance, calmly looking at Qingwan. Qingwan merely smiles. They lock eyes, an unspoken tension filling the air despite their seemingly amicable demeanor.
Both inwardly scoff, turning away simultaneously, continuing towards Bihong Lake. Their embroidered shoes leave delicate prints on the pristine white snow.
In these few days within the Rootless Mystic Realm, Wu has lost count of how many people she’s killed—certainly over a hundred, mostly those foolish demon-cultivators.
She knows he’s heading to the Blood Bodhi Mountain for the main fruit, primarily for Qingwan. Though Wu feels somewhat unsettled about this, she still intends to assist Xu Ming at Blood Bodhi Mountain.
Unfortunately, her location in the Rootless Mystic Realm is too far from Blood Bodhi Mountain. By the time she arrives, everything is already over, nothing left.
If there’s any silver lining, it’s encountering Qingwan, who also got separated from her sect members and found nothing but emptiness at Blood Bodhi Mountain.
Despite their strained relationship—perhaps even considering each other rivals—they maintain civility, neither wanting to appear petty.
Thus, they decide to move together, providing mutual support.
Like headless flies, they wander into the desert of the Rootless Mystic Realm. There, Qingwan acquires a Half-Immortal Grade Earth Spirit Pearl, highly beneficial for Daoist cultivators practicing the Five Elements.
Meanwhile, Wu finds a set of golden armor, also Half-Immortal Grade. This armor adjusts according to its wearer’s form and stature. Clad in the golden armor, Wu exudes an impressive aura, even making Qingwan blink in admiration, silently understanding why Xu Ming might be dazzled by the princess.
Wu finds the armor quite suitable.
After leaving the desert, they planned to visit Sama Cave, only to learn it had collapsed, its treasures likely taken.
This leaves only one destination: Bihong Lake.
If Xu Ming were aware, he’d surely head this way after hearing about the opportunities in the desert being exhausted. Other cultivators would do the same.
Of the four major treasure sites in the Rootless Mystic Realm, three are now gone, leaving only Bihong Lake. Practically every cultivator will converge here.
So, the two make their way to Bihong Lake, killing enemies as they advance.
“I wonder how that guy is doing,” muses Qingwan, gazing at the horizon, concern evident in her eyes.
She hears the main Blood Bodhi fruit was claimed by a Sword Cultivator who fought his way out of a crowd. Qingwan believes this must be Xu Ming.
She also learns more and more cultivators are hunting him but failing.
Though confident in Xu Ming’s abilities, Qingwan worries deeply about his safety.
“Don’t worry,” reassures Wu. “I’ve known him since we were kids; he’s not that easy to kill.”
Qingwan smiles sweetly. “Of course I trust my Brother Xu! I met him during the Blood Floating Pagoda incident, but we’ve been together since birth!”
“Heh,” snorts Wu. “That was ages ago. You left him when you were six. How well could you possibly know him compared to me, who trained and fought alongside him after you left?”
Qingwan continues smiling. “Even so, I should understand him better than the princess does.”
“Heh.”
“Heh.”

[Hold on, there’s another chapter coming. Today I managed to update 8000 words. Originally, I could’ve done 10k today, but someone fell ill at home, and I’ve got half a chapter still unwritten. I’ll catch up tomorrow. If possible, I’ll aim for daily updates of 8000 words even if I can’t reach 10k daily. Doubling updates daily would mean doubling the pace.]
