Chapter 34: Fallen Area

Chapter 34: Fallen Area

While continuing to stroll around the Small Town with Aierjisi, Yake, as an Adventurer, felt a strong intuition telling him one thing: they were being watched.

“Could it be that the fuss Little Princess made in the Guild a few days ago was too loud?”

Though Yake knew that Aierjisi’s antics at the Adventurer Guild would definitely draw some unwanted trouble, he didn’t expect someone to come after them so quickly.

“What’s wrong, Yake? You look like your mind is elsewhere. Weren’t you the one suggesting we put on a show? Why are you the one who’s out of it?”

Aierjisi, completely oblivious to the situation, noticed Yake glancing around nervously.

“I feel like someone has been following us. But I can’t figure out their motives.”

“Following us? What’s the point of doing something like that?”

Aierjisi also took a casual look around, but with both of them in the Square, there were so many people that spotting a watcher wasn’t going to be easy.

“I don’t know what they want. But one thing is for sure: they mean no good.”

“Hmm… Yake, I have a plan. Do you want to hear it?”

“What plan?”

Yake bent down, bringing his ear close to Aierjisi’s mouth, curious about what this Little Princess had in mind.

“Since we can’t find them, let’s lure them out!”

“And how do we do that?”

Yake had thought about luring them out as well, but what kind of antics would actually draw someone out?

“Isn’t it simple? Don’t all protagonists in books deliberately go to less crowded, remote places? That way, the watcher will follow us to keep us in sight, and then finding them will be a piece of cake! How could you not get such an easy concept?”

After finishing her explanation, Aierjisi lightly tapped her small fist on Yake’s head.

“Will such a plan really work? What if the watcher is a sharp one and doesn’t take the bait?”

While Aierjisi’s plan was feasible, if the follower was on high alert and chose not to follow them out of fear of being exposed, it would all be pointless.

“That’s why I say you’re an idiot.”

Aierjisi gave another light punch to Yake’s head and continued.

“If they don’t follow us, we can just exit from another route. That way, we can shake off their pursuit!”

“You make a good point… so shall we act now?”

“Sure! Let’s go! But pay attention; if the watcher doesn’t come along, you need to signal me. I don’t have your anti-tracking skills.”

“No problem.”

With the plan confirmed, Aierjisi grabbed Yake’s hand and pretended to be a lovey-dovey couple as they strolled towards a more secluded area in the Small Town.

“Oh no, oh no! Mom, big brother is planning to take Little Aier to the Fallen Area! What should we do?”

Seeing Yake and Aierjisi heading towards the Fallen Area, Xier began to feel anxious.

The Fallen Area, as the name implies, is where a bunch of good-for-nothing people cluster—living off gambling, thieving, and robbing, like smelly rats in the sewers. What was Yake taking Aierjisi to such a place for? And should they keep following?

Aierjisi was surely powerful; even that bunch in the Fallen Area would be a piece of cake for her. Yake had developed quite the strength under Aierjisi’s Special Training.

However, Xier and Reina were just two defenseless women. If they followed them into the Fallen Area, it could spell disaster.

“Let’s follow them.”

“Mom! That place is the Fallen Area!”

Seeing Reina insist on following, Xier panicked.

“I know! But what if Yake ends up doing something embarrassing with Little Aier there? While I hope Yake settles down soon, this is moving way too fast. How can he start doing that with the bride before the wedding is even over, especially in a place like the Fallen Area? As a mother, I have a duty to stop my son!”

“Is that really the priority right now?!”

Xier mentally screamed, watching Reina’s determined face as she walked into the Fallen Area, leaving her no choice but to follow.

“Seriously, Mom, let’s get out of here! It feels so wrong!”

Just being in the Fallen Area made Xier feel a chill down her spine, and the stench wafting from the streets was unbearable.

“No way! We haven’t found Yake and Little Aier yet. We can’t just leave!”

Reina was also sickened by the environment but was determined to find her son.

“But how long will it take to find them like this?”

If they aimlessly searched in the Fallen Area, they wouldn’t find anything, even if the sun set.

“Hey look! There are two women over here!”

Before they could find Yake and Aierjisi, a group of local ruffians had surrounded them.

“Mom…”

Hiding behind Reina, Xier trembled. From the very start, she had been against coming to the Fallen Area.

“What do you want? If you’re thinking of doing anything nasty, don’t blame me for calling the Guard!”

Reina was surprisingly calm. She attempted to scare off the unsavory characters with her words.

“Hey, what did this lady just say? Call the Guard? Haha, sorry, but the Guard doesn’t work here!”

“What do you think we want? Of course we want to have some fun with you!”

Reina’s threat had no effect. The ruffians took a step closer, grinning maliciously.

“Could you step back from them? I’m enjoying my date today and don’t want to get angry.”

“Huh?”

Hearing another woman’s voice from behind, the ruffians turned their heads. A little blonde girl, about two-thirds their height, stood glaring at them.

“Wow, another one! Looks like we’re in for a lucky day, boys.”

In their eyes, Aierjisi, the little blonde girl, was just a lamb waiting to be slaughtered—completely disregarded.

“There’s no other choice. Sometimes I must resort to violence to quickly solve problems since there are too many stupid people in this world.”

Aierjisi realized they had underestimated her. Without a word, she drew her Light Whip and lashed out at the group of ruffians.

“Ah!!!”

Instantly, the screams of the ruffians echoed throughout the Fallen Area.
