Clack-clack.
Teacher Laura was taking deep breaths while walking briskly.
This morning.
She was on her way back to the classroom after finishing the faculty meeting.
Today, during the faculty meeting, it was announced that Teacher Autren, who had been in charge of the top 1st Year class, had stepped down from his position due to health reasons.
Of course, Laura knew the real reason why Autren had stepped down as the teacher for the top 1st Year class.
‘Because he lost in the duel with student Leo.’
Defeating an individual student—one who was also a Lumeran wielding the Magic of the Stars—was an outcome the Pureblood Society controlling Seirun would never accept.
As a result, this led to his removal from the position as the teacher of the top 1st Year class.
Seirun’s top 1st Year class.
That signifies the students who have the brightest future as hero candidates.
Only those select few chosen among the teachers of Seirun could assume the role of a homeroom teacher for such a prestigious group, making it an immense privilege.
As soon as the news spread about Autren stepping down from his role, all the teachers present at the faculty meeting perked up.
Laura let out a deep sigh.
‘Changing homeroom teachers suddenly isn’t good for students preparing for the mid-term exams.’
That was Laura’s greatest concern.
Though it may be an opportunity for the teachers, large-scale personnel changes inevitably bring chaos for the students.
‘I’ll just focus on teaching my class of students diligently!’
The mid-term exams were just around the corner.
For the written exams, a defined scope makes preparation straightforward.
However, the practical exam details were shrouded in mystery until today.
And today, during the faculty meeting, the content of the practical exam was announced.
Laura thought to herself that she must quickly inform her students and arrived at the lower-level class.
‘First period: Aura Studies.’
Of course, all the students would certainly have been individually practicing their skills; thus, it was necessary to gather all of them together.
Creak!
As Laura entered by opening the door, her eyes widened in surprise.
Everyone in the lower-level class was already seated.
“Good morning, Teacher Laura!”
The students greeted her cheerfully.
“It’s a wonderful morning to everyone. But… this is the Aura Studies lecture period, isn’t it?”
This was typically the time for individual study, yet all the students were already in the classroom.
There was no way Laura wouldn’t be astonished.
To Laura’s question, Leo replied.
“We were studying independently.”
“Self-study?”
“Yes. A few days ago, the children wanted to ask about the duel between me and Teacher Autren.”
Leo looked around at the students.
Not only the Department of Knights students, but even the Department of Summoning students had their eyes gleaming as they stared at the chalkboard. They were all brimming with enthusiasm, just like when Laura gave a lesson on the Magic of the Stars.
“We were discussing how knights and summoners should strategize when facing a powerful wizard.”
It was content that Laura wouldn’t have taught.
“Thank you, Leo student.”
With Laura’s words, Leo smiled and returned to his seat.
Standing in front of the podium, Laura cleared her throat.
“Students, the practical exam assignment for the mid-term exams has been decided during today’s faculty meeting.”
Upon hearing this, the entire lower-level class wore tense expressions.
The mid-term practical exam.
It could arguably be the most important test of this exam.
Seeing the students with tense expressions, Laura continued.
“Monster extermination.”
“Monster extermination?”
The lower-level students widened their eyes in shock.
“Yes. The task for this practical exam is to work together as students to eliminate a powerful monster. Your ranking will be determined based on how swiftly you strategize, employ tactics, and display teamwork to eliminate the target.”
Laura’s words prompted Angr to raise his hand.
“Teacher, may I ask a question?”
“Yes, Angr student.”
“Is that it?”
“Yes.”
The lower-level students wore expressions of ‘of course’.
“Following your expectation, the assignment must also be completed using only the Magic of the Stars.”
Upon hearing this, a sigh laced with resignation erupted among the lower-level students.
Seeing the students, Laura responded.
“Don’t worry too much. Haven’t you been preparing for this? Think of this as an opportunity.”
Laura spoke with a strong tone.
“An opportunity for you to prove without a doubt that you don’t belong in the lower-level class.”
“I’m just a little confused.”
Angr asked with a slightly perplexed tone.
“If the exam assignment only allows the use of the Magic of the Stars, why bother with the Aura Studies lessons?”
In the grand hall where lower-level students normally practiced.
Every member of the lower-level class was gathered there.
Not only the knight students but summoners and wizards alike were all present.
In response to Angr’s question, Leo asked:
“Are you a wizard? Are you set to walk the path of magic forever?”
“Well, no, but…”
“Then you should also focus on your primary skills.”
After answering this way, Leo glanced at the summoner students.
“It’s the same for you guys.”
Among the lower-level summoners, Berus, who was somewhat of a leader among them, raised his hand.
“Leo, I understand what you’re saying. But how would the training methods of a magic knight benefit summoners?”
The summoners nodded at Berus’s question.
Looking at Berus, Leo replied:
“The magic I’m about to teach you will be helpful to all of you.”
“What kind of magic?”
“Enhancement magic.”
At Leo’s words, Angr tilted his head in confusion.
“Enhancement Magic? The only Enhancement Magic from the Magic of the Stars that I know are the exclusive spells passed down within noble families. There’s no basic form of it, so how can we learn it?”
Enhancement Magic.
A kind of buff magic, it draws inspiration from the Fairy’s Blessing Magic. This magic was particularly favored by Lady Luna for use in close combat.
Indeed, Luna had not only engaged in fierce close-range battles on the front lines but had also cast powerful magic numerous times.
However, by now, all that remains of this magic are the family heirloom spells passed down through bloodline inheritances.
There exists no Enhancement Magic that anyone can learn.
“There is.”
At Leo’s answer, all the students were surprised.
“Not only can it enhance physical abilities, but it can also be used to strengthen familiars and spirits.”
Leo took out a portable chalkboard and wrote down an interpreted magic formula.
It was not the original magic Luna used but had been modernized by Leo so that the current generation of elves could use it.
‘Although it may not be as potent as the original, it’s still a powerful magic.’
“Ohhh!”
“Amazing!”
The lower-level students began copying the magic formula into their notebooks.
Seeing this, Angr approached.
“Is it okay to just casually share such information?”
For wizards, having exclusive knowledge of particular magic holds great value.
Especially within the Magic of the Stars, enhancement magic where merely knowing the formula allows anyone to use it, is incredibly valuable.
Given that, it was puzzling for Angr to see such valuable magic being casually shared.
Looking at Angr, Leo replied:
“Your predecessors would have been very upset upon seeing you all.”
“Who?”
“Your upperclassmen.”
Witnessing the students’ opportunities snatched away, Luna would have been extremely angry.
‘She might have shattered the heads of these so-called Pureblood Society guys who’ve done this nonsense.’
Leo smiled faintly at Angr.
“Stop overthinking and just work hard. That’s all there is to it.”
Leo’s words made Angr’s eyes widen momentarily before his face turned a bit red.
‘He’s our same-year, yet he’s incredibly mature.’
Angr pulled out his notebook and started jotting down the formula from the board.
“Hey, everyone! Let’s work hard and show Seirun what we’re capable of!”
Angr, who was unofficially acting as the class leader, rallied the students.
“Alright!”
“Let’s do this!”
The students cheered in response.
“Tch, so noisy.”
At that moment, the elf students walking in the hallway outside the gym mocked them.
“That lower-level class rascal seems to be all puffed up after having defeated Teacher Autren through sheer luck.”
“What’s the point of trying so hard?”
The upper-level 1st Year students mocked them.
Watching this, Geras, the newly appointed head teacher leading the upper-level 1st Year students, spoke:
“Sometimes those not chosen entertain the illusion that they could surpass the chosen few through effort.”
Geras smiled faintly.
“You all just need to show them the futility of such efforts.”
With Geras’ words, the upper-level 1st Year students wore smug expressions.
Creak—
Just then, Eckler peeked inside the gym, where the lower-level students were having a heartwarming time and muttered softly.
“Envious.”
Compared to the atmosphere among the upper-level 1st Year students, who constantly tried to outdo each other and kept secrets about their studies, the lower-level class’s collective sharing and joy seemed like the ideal school environment Eckler longed for.
“Eckler student.”
“Y-Yes, sir?”
“What are you looking at?”
Geras shot a cold look at Eckler.
“The result of this mid-term exam is crucial for securing your spot as the class representative. Have a bit more tension, please.”
“Y-Yes…”
Eckler drooped her ears after being reprimanded by Geras.
Seeing this, the upper-level students giggled, and then sent Eckler a hostile look.
‘I can beat Eckler even if I can’t beat Lea.’
“Once this mid-term exam is over, I’ll definitely secure my place as the class representative.”
Under the scrutinizing gaze of her classmates, Eckler shrank further into herself.
Tuck!
Then Elric, the second-ranked student in the 1st year, approached and tapped Eckler’s back.
“Don’t worry about them.”
“Right, I won’t.”
Eckler smiled brightly and glanced toward the gym of the lower-level students as she walked away.
“Now, students, prepare yourselves for something you have never experienced before.”
‘I’m different from that foolish Autren fellow. I will demonstrate that I am the teacher who suits the upper-level 1st Year class.’
He had originally been responsible for the upper-level 2nd Year class.
‘The upper-level 2nd Year class also was inadequate for someone like me.’
Geras wore a smug smile.
“How’s Leo Flove doing?”
“He’s mingling with the lower-level students.”
“Hmph. Quite fitting for him.”
LeHagen snorted in disdain.
“It would be good if he learned even a bit of Seirun’s educational values, wouldn’t it?”
“Isn’t that impossible?”
Orlen smirked at the edge of his lips.
“However, Lord LeHagen. Are you really going to burn Lord Seirun’s Hero Record?”
As Orlen asked cautiously, Lord LeHagen’s expression turned cold.
“Does that sound reasonable to you?”
At those words, Orlen flinched.
“We don’t know why Lord Seirun left such a letter behind. But all of this is for the path of our great elf race. Even if it means going against Lord Seirun’s words, we have the duty to reveal Lord Seirun’s Hero Record to the world.”
LeHagen rose from his seat.
As he overlooked the view of Seirun, he spoke.
“This is an age when the progenitor of the star clouds, Lady Luna, will make her descent onto this land, transcending her Hero Record.”
LeHagen’s eyes sparkled.
“Is there a law prohibiting Seirun from telling us not to do so? Is there a law preventing her descent onto this earth again?”
“There isn’t.”
“Exactly! That’s why we have the duty to protect and pass down Lord Seirun’s Hero Record to future generations.”
LeHagen smirked and said.
“Once the academic community learns about the existence of Lord Seirun’s Hero Record, our entire race will unite in joy. If that happens, the Tingel family will inevitably have to assist Lord Seirun in their global conquest.”
Clomp-clomp.
LeHagen stood in front of Seirun’s Hero Record.
“I’ll announce it at the upcoming academic conference, so get ready.”
“Understood, Lord LeHagen.”
