Chapter 369: You Are the First of the Young Generation
Lin Nuo’s retort took the man by surprise.
How happy am I?
Is that even a question?
Is this the personality of the new generation?
Indeed, it’s been too long; he’s completely out of touch with this new era.
The man glanced at the vast sea behind Lin Nuo and said with warmth and respect,
“My happiness is as vast as this sea and as deep as its depths.”
Lin Nuo couldn’t help but roll his eyes.
Spouting platitudes like an experienced politician?
How happy could it really be? It’s not like he was meeting a superstar!
Lin Nuo decided to be slightly polite, replying,
“Mm, I’m also very happy to meet you.”
“Then how happy are the young people?” the man countered.
“Fire happy.”
“Fire happy?”
The man looked puzzled. Is that another term from the new generation?
Does it mean something like being as vibrant as fireworks, representing the level of joy?
That must be it.
“Oh, I get it.”
The man nodded, not wanting to pry into specifics, just happy to understand the general idea—something along the lines of being very happy.
Do you really understand?
However, Lin Nuo just said that off the cuff.
Frost sorrow, fire joy.
The man continued,
“First, let me introduce myself; you can call me Jun, and this lady here is Ling, my wife. We are both souls residing in this stele, what you just saw was an illusion concerning the fights between land beings and the Sea Domain Dragon Clan from long ago.”
“Fight? That must have been hundreds of years ago?”
At this point, Lin Nuo took another look at their attire.
No wonder he thought their armor seemed out of place compared to the current Royal Army style.
Clearly, their armor was much more outdated, and that woman’s white robe was wrapped so tightly.
In contrast, today’s robes are much more revealing.
For instance, Su Kexin is in a pink and white dress, her legs clad in white silk, adding even more charm to her already lovely demeanor.
Of course, there’s a limit to how revealing one should be; outside of certain places, attire wouldn’t be too exposing.
The man nodded in agreement,
“Yes, it has been hundreds of years since we fell in battle, our souls trapped in this stele. However, with my wife by my side, it’s not so lonely.”
Saying this, the man gently hugged his wife, and both shared a deep gaze with affection.
Lin Nuo shot them a look.
Oh great, luring in a dog to kill?
Lin Nuo coughed lightly and continued,
“Generally speaking, when people die, their souls go to the underworld and then enter the cycle of reincarnation. How come your souls are still trapped in this stele? Were you specially imprisoned?”
“Not at all.”
Jun shook his head and replied,
“We chose this ourselves. The Sea Domain Dragon Clan has persecuted land beings, leaving corpses everywhere. My wife and I fought against the Sea Domain Dragon Clan but unfortunately fell in battle. We have one wish: that the Sea Domain Dragon Clan no longer invades the land.”
“That wish has come true; the Sea Domain Dragon Clan retreated to the sea long ago and hasn’t bothered the land,” Lin Nuo stated.
“That is only temporary.”
Jun sighed; even though they resided in the stele, far from the world, he had an ominous feeling that disaster was approaching.
He continued,
“The Sea Domain Dragon Clan’s retreat is merely temporary; their instinct for invasion cannot be eradicated, and they still covet this continent. I believe they will return.”
“And so? Do you want to leap out of the stele and defend your homeland?”
“Not at all. We are merely waiting for a destined person to fulfill our wishes. In the past, we researched methods to deal with the Sea Domain Dragon Clan, but it requires a destined individual to wield those methods.”
“So, you mean us?”
Lin Nuo sensed something was off; this had finally led to the main point.
Jun lightly chuckled and nodded,
“Yes, it is you.”
“And the reason?”
“Because you were able to find the stele and enter this space, and I can sense a deep connection between the two of you. It feels like it involves reincarnation and past lives. Moreover, both of you possess immense potential; I believe you are very suited to wield this method.”
Jun said, and there was no denying his point.
Lin Nuo and Su Kexin definitely had a connection.
After all, one was a great villain, and the other was the true protagonist—a connection as big as it gets.
As for potential, protagonists have limitless potential; explosions could bring about apocalyptic destruction, while he, the great villain, wasn’t weak either—through hard work and daring actions, he ultimately became a universally reviled devil, with limitless potential as well.
In conclusion, this guy thinks he’s a prophet; it might be time for a slice.
But hey, it’s still their territory, so cutting them down isn’t an option.
What he’s implying is that he wants Lin Nuo and Su Kexin to unite against the Sea Domain Dragon Clan and save the world.
But he hasn’t realized one thing: he’s the great villain.
Saving the world is doable by the protagonist alone, but if you bring along the great villain, that’s a huge plot hole.
The great villain only makes things worse and more complicated—a top-tier chaos-bringer.
However, in his memory, he had never seen a large-scale invasion by the Sea Domain Dragon Clan since he entered this spirit-cultivating world—at least not before he “kicked the bucket.”
So, this was merely worrying for nothing.
Historical records say the Sea Domain Dragon Clan was powerful to a ridiculous degree, making it nearly impossible for humans to compete against them.
But that was hundreds of years ago.
As the saying goes: “Each generation has its talents, each leads for hundreds of years.”
In modern terms: “New generations make new stories, each iteration cuts down on the old.”
The world is ever-changing; it’s hard to imagine what the Sea Domain Dragon Clan has become after all these years.
Perhaps they are still grandfathers.
Or perhaps they’ve become grandchildren.
Jun continued,
“Of course, this also depends on your willingness. You are Xuanyun Sect disciples, upholding righteousness and caring for the world—perfect for this.”
“You know we are from the Xuanyun Sect?”
“Of course.”
Jun smiled,
“Though we reside within the stele in Tianling Mountain, we’ve witnessed the rise and growth of the Xuanyun Sect. When you placed your hands on the stele, I already knew who you were. I even know of your merits—though this young lady’s are average, her potential is limitless, while your merits are remarkable and should rightfully place you as the first of the young generation in the Xuanyun Sect.”
Lin Nuo: “…”
Seriously? You’re calling the great villain the first of the young generation? Have you lost your marbles?
Didn’t expect a critic would appear here too.
Jun continued,
“There’s a mystical Spirit Cat in the mountains, called Dao Yuan, that has also witnessed the rise of the Xuanyun Sect; you should know about it.”
“Sure, it’s indeed quite mystical.”
Lin Nuo nodded.
Yeah, mystical enough to want to compete with him for a copy of “Legends of the Martial World.”
