Chapter 375: Flame King and Flame Empress.
The young dragon once again poked its head out, curiously gazing at the world with its bright blue eyes blinking innocently amidst the ongoing battle.
He was truly adorable but could not sway the heart of the Extinction Dragon, nor the Flame Empress Dragon standing beside Jié Jié.
Nana was restless, while the Sunfire Dragon couple remained tense. Only the Extinction Dragon lacked any awareness of the atmosphere, relentlessly attacking, leaving the Flame King Dragon struggling to parry and getting pounced on.
The Flame Empress’s gaze had also shifted away, her venomous glare fixed on the husband who had overthrown the Extinction Dragon, yet her body remained blocking the cave entrance, refusing to take a single step forward.
A familiar sensation reminiscent of the time in the desert when she vied for Nana’s favor through combat with the young Flame King Dragon.
Power and beauty — that was the perfect developmental path for a Flame King Dragon; he had no reason to refuse it.
But this time, the cage of fate was about to imprison and seal off this family of Sunfire Dragons, squeezing their way out.
And he, Nana, and the Extinction Dragon would become the most significant participants in this.
Behind the Flame Empress, more heads of the young dragon peeked out, staring at their father bleeding.
He was still too young to comprehend the meaning of death, but this sight would haunt him for life.
Nana hesitated nearby, ready to charge, but Jié Jié raised his claw to block her path.
If they simply turned around and left with Nana, the Flame Empress would dare to leave the cave entrance to help her husband fight against the Extinction Dragon, thus breaking the so-called “cage” effortlessly.
But that was too simple.
Jié Jié stepped forward, sweeping his tail past Nana’s poised claw to stop her.
His movement caught the attention of both the Flame Empress and the young dragons, filled with caution and curiosity. Yet, he wasn’t walking towards them but towards the Extinction Dragon and the Flame King Dragon.
“Hrrrroooow!”
The Extinction Dragon growled lowly.
Perhaps, to the Extinction Dragon, the value of their friendship was less than a full meal from the Flame King Dragon.
But his friendship with the Extinction Dragon was never measured by value or comparison.
Jié Jié raised his claw and delivered a slap, then sidestepped, directly shoving the Extinction Dragon aside. The Flame King Dragon, who had been suppressed, gasped as he climbed up, staring at Jié Jié dumbfounded like a clueless big cat, shock filling his gaze.
Savoring this shock, Jié Jié faced the dissatisfied roar of the Extinction Dragon, growling back and confronting him.
Lifting his claws slightly, the Extinction Dragon whimpered and retreated, casting one last longing glance at the Flame King Dragon before glaring resentfully and running off into the corner until disappearing.
To control the Extinction Dragon, only strength could be relied upon.
Jié Jié calmly turned around, as if he had just accomplished an insignificant task, his arrogant gaze sweeping over the Flame King Dragon, forcing him to lower his head.
Passing by the Flame King Dragon, he slowly approached the old Flame Empress Dragon and the young dragons behind her.
“Madam, your children are truly adorable.”
Could she still bear offspring at this age? Or did they reserve their reproductive opportunity until now, specifically for the abundant energy environment of the Dragon Crystal Land?
The Dragon Crystal Land is where ancient dragons fell, depositing their energies, making it indeed the best birthing ground for young dragons.
The old Flame Empress continued to growl, resisting their approach while calling out to her husband.
The Flame King Dragon hesitated, but as he finally made up his mind to come, Jié Jié had already forcefully shoved the Flame Empress aside, bearing her biting and scratching without moving an inch, towering above the young Sunfire Dragon.
Two more heads emerged from behind the young dragon — triplets! Two reds and one blue.
The Flame Empress behind acted like a hag, clawing wildly, while Nana looked at him confusedly and helped him repel the Flame Empress.
Jié Jié lowered his head, sniffing the young dragons’ scent, while the young dragons lifted their heads, curiously memorizing his scent.
These little ones were so tiny; perhaps the Flame Empress rarely let them out. Now, seeing the outside world, they were curious about everything.
But after witnessing Jié Jié easily repelling the monster pinning down their father, admiration sparkled in their eyes. They mustered all their strength to exchange scents with Jié Jié, each one straining upward, failing to maintain their balance and falling onto their bellies.
One fell, pulling the other two down with him.
Jié Jié poked the young dragons with his claw, then gently touched them with his paw pads.
After playing with them to his satisfaction, he stepped back contentedly and turned his gaze toward the Flame Empress who was still locked in a standoff with Nana.
The old Flame Empress quickly retreated to the cave entrance, re-blocking it. The Flame King Dragon arrived beside his partner with mixed feelings, watching their children look at the former adversary with admiration.
Jié Jié growled lowly, causing Nana to retreat back to his side. She sniffed his scent, looking at him confusedly, then glanced at the young dragons.
His scent had interacted with theirs; the scent glands on his paw pads had transferred his scent onto the young dragons.
Ancient dragons certainly wouldn’t rely solely on scent to identify young dragons. This gesture carried another meaning, one that puzzled the Sunfire Dragon couple.
There was no doubt that the new lord of the Dragon Crystal Land hadn’t harmed their young, and they had lost.
Were they to be expelled? It was no longer safe here.
The nerves of the old Flame Empress twitched, sensitive and agitated, but when she looked at her young, she calmed down, picking up one of them to prepare to leave.
Before she could take a few reluctant steps, she found Jié Jié had already turned and walked away on his own.
Her husband, however, didn’t pick up the remaining young ones but sat beside them, hanging his head like Lu Mingfei.
Watching his wife, the Flame King Dragon shook his head lightly.
They both knew there were two Extinction Dragons in the Dragon Crystal Land, one possibly still nearby, and three young ones.
Relocating with the young ones would be the most dangerous option.
The Flame Empress silently stared in the direction Jié Jié and the others had left, still believing them more dangerous than the Extinction Dragon.
The Flame King Dragon merely circled the remaining two young ones with his tail.
He exchanged glances with Jié Jié but couldn’t detect any wariness toward their children in his eyes.
The other party didn’t care and chose to walk away rather than chase them relentlessly.
That was a higher form of arrogance, akin to how they wouldn’t pay attention to harmless and non-threatening creatures like Acid Winged Dragons within their territory.
They were embarrassingly spared, but they needed exactly this kind of sparing.
The couple faced each other. The Flame King Dragon recalled the period when she had given birth, guarding the nest entrance sensitively, not trusting even him, refusing to let him enter to see their children, and they had stood in opposition like this then.
But now, he was at the nest entrance, while his wife was outside.
After a long standoff, just as the Flame King Dragon was about to stand up and yield, the Flame Empress came carrying the young one, setting it down beside him and sitting next to him.

When you see a mighty male fire dragon soaring through the sky, you can't confidently say it’s truly a fire dragon—because it might have been a rare silver fire dragon before you noticed it.
If you suspect it was a silver fire dragon, it could have been a spinosaurus even earlier.
When someone tells you it was once a spinosaurus, you still can’t be sure—because before others saw it, it might have been an elder extinction dragon.
You may feel certain it’s a flying dragon by now, yet you can't assert that either—because underground where you can't see, it might actually be an ancient mountain dragon.
So, what is it really?
In the beginning,
It was just a hairy spider.
