Chapter 38: The Favorite of Birds is Rotten Flesh

Chapter 38: The Favorite of Birds is Rotten Flesh

Behind that bird, two more creatures emerged from their crystals, taking shape amidst blue smoke.

One was an extremely gigantic Cyclops, and the other a Leopard with blue fur.

“So this is the backup that guy sent me? Doesn’t look very reliable.”

Still being tormented by the Barrier, he watched as the three creatures broke out from their crystals. He had expected something incredibly powerful to emerge, but this?

“Hey! You, dude. What you just said, we’re not happy about that! What era is this? Judging by appearance, huh? Wait a minute. That aura on you… it’s definitely the aura of Lord Gilbaris.”

Hearing A Jie trash-talking them, the bird couldn’t hold back and retorted. It then realized the familiar aura on him.

Since he had Lord Gilbaris’s aura, that meant he must be their Master.

“Hey, man, can I ask you something? Are you our master?”

“Ah? Master? What’s that? I’m not sure, but I am the one who summoned you from the crystals.”

Upon hearing this, the bird suddenly burst out laughing. A Jie was also bewildered—what’s this Master stuff all about?

“Well, since you summoned us from the crystals, you must be our master. So, Master, please give us an order. What do you need us to do?”

Though reluctant, the bird accepted A Jie as their master.

“Can you guys find a way to destroy this damn Barrier? I’ve been tortured by this thing non-stop.”

Up until now, A Jie had been suffering from the electric shocks generated by the Barrier. If these three could break it, that would be fantastic.

“Ok, ok, just destroy this Barrier, right? That’s a piece of cake for us. Hey, big guy, this task’s on you, go for it!”

The bird flew onto the shoulder of the Cyclops and commanded him to smash the Barrier.

The Cyclops didn’t say a word; he simply raised his fist and slammed it down onto the ground, shattering the inn’s floor.

“Ah!”

Under the impact, the waiter let out a scream, blown sideways. At the same time, the Barrier that had been surrounding the counter was completely destroyed. A Jie, who had been hindered by his sister, finally regained his freedom.

“Ah… looks like you three are quite capable. You easily broke that annoying Barrier.”

“Of course. We were trained personally by Lord Gilbaris. A low-level Barrier like this is just child’s play for us. So, Master, what’s your next command?”

The bird proudly raised its head, looking at A Jie, waiting for his next order.

“The next command, huh? Just wait a moment while I deal with this guy.”

A Jie ordered the three monsters to stand by as he approached the unconscious waiter, grabbing him by the throat and slamming him against the wall.

“I already gave you a chance, and you still dared to pull tricks on me? Looks like you really have a death wish.”

Looking at the waiter writhing in agony as he squeezed his neck, A Jie felt no sympathy. He had already given the guy a chance; the choice was his. If that’s the case, dying by his own hands should bring no complaints.

The waiter struggled desperately, trying to escape A Jie’s grip, but as an ordinary human, he was no match for A Jie, enhanced by the Adrian People. Soon, his brain succumbed to a lack of oxygen, and A Jie strangled him to death.

“Wow, actually killed a guy! Not bad, I like it. Uh, Master, can I eat this guy’s flesh later? I love munching on corpse meat.”

Looks like this bird’s eating habits are just like others—enjoying rotten flesh.

“Sure, as long as you finish up here first, you can have all the corpse meat you want.”

“Oh yeah! Long live Master! You don’t know how pitiful it was with Lord Gilbaris; I might not even get to eat rotten flesh once a week!”

Thinking back to those days when Gilbaris wouldn’t feed him rotten flesh was pure misery for the bird.

However, this master seemed pretty nice, letting him know he could feast on rotten meat right away.

“Big guy, can you tear down this inn from the outside?”

A Jie turned to the Cyclops that had just destroyed the Barrier.

The person A Jie was looking for was staying in this inn. Searching room by room would be a hassle, so it’d be easier just to tear the place apart.

“Ok, Master, the big guy says no problem.”

The bird answered A Jie’s query again. It seemed that the Cyclops didn’t have the ability to speak. The same went for the Leopard. The only one capable of speech was this bird.

“Alright, let’s hurry outside, and big guy, get started on tearing down this inn.”

With that, A Jie turned and blew open the sealed door, charging outside. The three monsters followed closely behind him as they left the inn.

“Get to it, big guy! This is your specialty!”

The bird landed on A Jie’s shoulder, prompting the Cyclops to start demolishing the inn.

“OH!!!!!”

The Cyclops let out a roar, swinging his fists wildly at the inn. In no time, the inn was reduced to ruins under his iron fists, with many guests who couldn’t escape or were still sleeping crushed beneath the debris.

“Well, since it’s come to this, those two should be dead as well. Bird, weren’t you hungry for rotten flesh? There are plenty of bodies here. You can dig in.”

Looking at the demolished inn, it was likely those two had already been crushed. This made things a bit inconvenient for reporting back. Should he check around to see if he could find them?

“Wow, Master! You’re the best! I won’t hold back!”

Hearing A Jie give permission to eat rotten flesh, the bird eagerly flew to one of the bodies and began feasting on the meat.
