Chapter 40: What Happens When Atomic Motion Stops
Ouxs truly deserved the title of Gaia’s most trusted ally and the Sage of the Royal Palace. Just two hours after Gaia told him what Aierjisi and the others needed, he had already made the heat-resistant suits.
“Oh, you finished so quickly? I thought we’d have to wait until tomorrow at least.”
“My efficiency isn’t that bad. Besides, there’s no way something like a heat-resistant suit would take until tomorrow! By the way, you really could have just asked someone else to help with this.”
“True, but it’s better to have someone trustworthy make something like a heat-resistant suit. That’s why I had to come to you!”
“Uh-huh. Fine then. I’ve made your stuff, so it’s all yours now. I won’t disturb you any longer; I’m off!”
He handed over the custom-made suits to them, completing Ouxs’ task.
“Shall we set off now?”
With the heat-resistant suits ready, they could depart anytime.
“Not quite. I’d prefer to leave tomorrow. I can finally relax here, so I want to sleep comfortably tonight.”
After all, she was still a Little Princess. Aierjisi would definitely prefer sleeping on a soft big bed rather than in a sleeping bag out in the wild.
“Then let’s leave tomorrow. This gives the young lady some time to mentally prepare.”
“Sounds good! We’ll head to another room to rest now and will stop by your room tomorrow. Keep an eye on her and don’t let her escape.”
“Yep! I’ll keep a close watch on the young lady, don’t worry!”
Yaser nodded. It was hard to tell whether Aierjisi or Weirafiya was really his master.
“Aier, aren’t we going back to our room? But it seems like the route we’re taking isn’t headed toward the room.”
After parting from Yaser, Yake followed Aierjisi, but the current route felt a bit off—it was clearly not heading toward the resting quarters.
“We definitely need to go back to the room, but it’s a bit early for that. We have something more important to do right now.”
“What is it?”
“Of course, we need to practice our Fusion skills! We finally gained this new power—don’t you want to train a bit more to master it? It could be super beneficial for future battles.”
Back when she completed the Job Change Mission in the game, Aierjisi had jumped right into the dungeon to test out her new skills, checking out how they worked and their damage, before deciding on skill combinations. Even if they weren’t in a game world, mastering new powers definitely required some practice.
“Now that you mention it, that makes sense. Let’s go!”
Yake also thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get a grip on their new powers and entered the training ground with Aierjisi.
“Are you ready, Yake?”
“I’m all set! Let’s get started!”
“Not so fast! First, let’s fuse together!”
Aierjisi jumped up to hug Yake’s neck and kissed him, melding into his body to complete the Fusion.
【Wow, that went surprisingly smoothly! Yake, how do you feel? Anything off?】
“I feel fine! No issues.”
Yake tried moving his body a bit. Rather than feeling anything odd, he felt incredibly powerful. His strength seemed much greater than before. If Fusion could achieve such an enhancement, why had he bothered with all that special training…
【As long as there’s no issue, let’s get started and see just how strong we’ve become!】
“Okay!”
Yake pressed a button, activating the training ground to generate virtual enemies to attack him.
“By the way, can’t I have a say in when to use skills?”
After battling for a while, Yake was a bit dissatisfied that he couldn’t use his skills and could only attack. Why was the control of skills entirely in Aierjisi’s hands?
【I don’t know, but it’s probably for fairness. Think about it; I’m inside your body right now. You control the body, so if you accidentally got killed, I would too. For fairness, isn’t it reasonable to leave the skill usage to me?】
With no control over his own actions, Yake could only assist with skills and help Aierjisi in combat. And he still wanted to take control of skill usage for himself!
“But isn’t it inconvenient for us to be separate like this? What if we need to use a skill in a crisis and you can’t keep up?”
【I won’t fall behind! Don’t forget, we’re one entity now! You are me, and I am you. If you want to use a skill, I can activate it right away. There’s no way we’ll be too slow!】
“I guess that’s true… So, may I ask? Now that we’ve gained new power, it wouldn’t just be the Time Piloting skill, right? There should be other skills we can use too.”
【Of course! Like this one.】
Aierjisi executed another skill, and suddenly, Yake’s body froze in place, unable to move.
【What’s going on, Aier? Why can’t I move?】
It felt as though time had stopped for his body. Yake could only watch as it remained frozen, even unable to open his mouth to speak.
【I’ve stopped the time of your body. That’s why you can’t move.】
【But this skill seems useless—I’m about to get hit!】
Yake watched as the virtual enemies lunged at him during this period of immobilization.
【Don’t worry! While it may seem like you can’t move, this skill has a very powerful effect.】
【A powerful effect? What is it?】
【You’ll see soon enough. Look at that enemy charging at you!】
After hearing Aierjisi’s words, Yake shifted his gaze to the attacking enemy. It charged directly at him, but—
That attack hit him, merely causing a slight vibration before being deflected away.
【What is this…?】
Yake couldn’t comprehend what had happened.
【Hehe, just like I imagined! Once your time is stopped, no matter what kind of attack is made against your body, it can’t cause any damage!】
Aierjisi explained proudly to Yake.
Everything in the world is composed of atoms. As long as time is flowing, atoms will keep moving, causing various changes—including destruction.
So, what happens if you stop time and halt atomic motion?
That would mean, at that moment, Yake’s body becomes an indestructible substance. No one could attack or destroy it.
