Chapter 414

Chapter 334 – Transposition

In a warehouse by the seaside in the New World, Dorothy, using a puppet mark drawn with bl**d, controlled the man whom Kapak had knocked out to stand up and examine the tags on the boxes in front of him. The original body sitting by the fireplace nodded in understanding.

‘New Jacque? If I remember correctly, this should be Prith’s colony city on the eastern coast of the New World. So, does that mean this place is now part of the New Jacque Port?’

Thinking thus, Dorothy controlled the man to walk to the window of the warehouse and look outside. Through the man’s eyes, Dorothy saw a quiet dock under the flickering night lights, with the silhouettes of several ships visible in the distance. A few security guards in uniforms patrolled the dark dock, and some workers were seen working through the night.

‘This is really a port… If I remember correctly, New Jacque Port should be one of the largest ports among Prith’s colonies in the New World. Could they be planning to transport both Kapak and the goods with ‘Silence’ spirit to somewhere else?’

Dorothy pondered by the fireplace and then manipulated the man to turn his gaze from the port outside to carefully inspect himself. She realized that the living puppet she was controlling was wearing the uniform of a dock security guard, and it looked quite different from the other guards she had seen.

‘It seems this guy is also a security guard. Since he specifically came to check on Kapak’s condition and has the key to the wooden box outside Kapak’s iron cage, it proves that he is connected to the society that attacked Kapak and the Wilderness Spirit.’

Dorothy thought as she looked at the security uniform on the living puppet. Then, she made the puppet start searching itself. Soon, he found a series of items: a pistol, a small kn*fe, a sigil, a bone artifact, an ID card, keys, and two iron coins…

These sigils were of two types, both with ‘Silence’ spirit. One type, Dorothy recognized as a soul-sealing sigil, which could suppress and seal a spirit within an object. She had seen this before on Killer Kim when she traveled on the train to Tivyan. The other type, however, she did not recognize; she couldn’t use active skills with her puppet yet, so she couldn’t use the identification technique to determine what it was.

Additionally, the bone artifact bore obvious traces of ‘Silence’. Having witnessed the work of a bone craftsman, Dorothy knew it was attached to a spirit, likely carried by the security guard for combat purposes, but he was attacked and knocked unconscious before he could release it. The two iron coins were clearly storage items with ‘Silence’ spirit.

Lastly, the ID card. Dorothy checked the security guard’s ID and found he was named Tom, not just a security guard but also a security captain responsible for nighttime safety in the warehouses of New Jacque Port.

‘Tom… Huh, with so many extraordinary things on him, this security captain must be an extraordinary being, at least an apprentice of ‘Silence.’ It seems the society wanted to ensure the safety of their goods by recruiting him as a member.

‘After all, if they want to conveniently transport such a large amount of goods across the ocean, they have to use a major port. Using ordinary ports would require using ordinary warehouses, and their extraordinary supplies would mix with regular goods, necessitating some safety measures.’

After checking everything on the security captain, Dorothy thought, having reinforced her knowledge of world geography at Crown University. Dancdo was located in the main continent in the Duchy of Brettonia, requiring crossing the ocean to get there from New Jacque, a considerable distance.

Just as Dorothy was observing around with Security Captain Tom, Kapak, who was still locked in a cage, finally became restless. He whispered to the figure standing ahead.

“Hey, you, are you… Mr. Detective?”

“Oh… It’s Kapak, I almost forgot about you. Wait a moment, let me see if I can open your cage.”

Hearing Kapak’s voice, Tom, controlled by Dorothy, replied, and then walked to the cage in front of him, crouching down to try the key he found on Tom to unlock Kapak’s cage. After a while, he successfully opened the lock and freed Kapak. Kapak immediately crawled out of the cage, took a deep breath, and stretched his limbs.

“Whew… Thank you, Mr. Detective. Without you, I don’t know what I would have done today!”

Kapak thanked Dorothy, controlling Tom. Having experienced being controlled himself, he knew the controller was clearly that detective. Dorothy made Tom nod in response.

“Hmm, if you want to thank someone… thank Akka and the Scholar. I’m merely carrying out a commission and following instructions,” Dorothy responded through Tom to Kapak, who then closed his eyes and earnestly prayed to Akka. After hearing Kapak’s gratitude again in her mind, Dorothy spoke again.

“You’re now free. What do you plan to do next?”

“I must immediately return to my tribe! I need to report to Teacher Uta about that scoundrel Banu and make his tribe realize his true nature. Also, I need to immediately have Teacher Uta check on Lord Wood Hoof’s condition!”

Kapak said urgently to Dorothy. Hearing mention of the Wilderness Spirit Wood Hoof, Dorothy raised an eyebrow and made Tom glance sideways at the stack of boxes prepared for shipment to Dancdo, emitting faint traces of ‘Silence’.

“Do you feel anything about the spirituality of these boxes?”

Dorothy asked Tom to point at the stack of boxes, and Kapak, after a slight pause, approached the wooden boxes and examined them closely. His brows furrowed slightly.

“This feeling… This is essence, it’s the essence of Lord Wood Hoof! The essence is trapped inside!”

Using his sensitivity as a medium, Kapak quickly discovered the problem in the boxes. He saw that the boxes contained something familiar—essence.

“All these boxes contain essence… Hmm, it looks like the intentions of these people are clear now.”

Looking at the pile of wooden boxes, Dorothy sneered by the fireplace and then manipulated Tom to speak to Kapak.

“I think the Wilderness Spirit called Wood Hoof and its essence you’re looking for might now be sealed in these boxes.”

“What? You mean Lord Wood Hoof and the essence are all sealed in here by those invaders?”

Hearing Dorothy’s words, Kapak was stunned, then looked at the stack of wooden boxes and continued.

“Why would the invaders do this?”

“Heh… Most likely for the sake of spirituality. You may not know about the various extraordinary societies on the main continent, but many of them are ruthless in pursuing spirituality without any scruples.”

Dorothy made Tom laugh coldly. So far, she had encountered many evil extraordinary societies. The biggest difference between these evil societies and official extraordinary organizations was their disregard for means in accumulating spirituality. For example, she felt no surprise hearing that the ‘Silence’ society included those who directly ate souls.

In fact, because she needed to create a holy emblem recently, Dorothy had been occasionally seeking information from Beverly and Adele about various societies. Among them, the Underworld Coffin Cult was a focal point. From the rough intelligence she gathered from Beverly, the Underworld Coffin Cult wielded significant influence within the ‘Silence’ society, using soul-refining techniques to obtain spirituality. Therefore, Dorothy had reason to believe these essences were captured for refining.

“Spirituality… Are the extraordinary beings among these invaders targeting our Wilderness Spirits for their spirituality? d*mn it… Before we leave, I must release Lord Wood Hoof and the others from these boxes!”

Upon hearing that the essences of Wood Hoof and other spirits might be inside the boxes, Kapak grew anxious and immediately went forward to open the wooden boxes. Dorothy did not stop him but made Tom watch silently.

The shipment was scheduled for five o’clock in the morning on the fifth, and Dorothy calculated the time difference. It was around one o’clock in the morning on the east coast of the New World, meaning the shipment would depart for Dancdo in a few hours. To save the essences inside, they had to act now.

Under Dorothy’s watchful eye, Kapak used the remaining effects of his bl**d-eating ability to forcibly pry open a long wooden box. Inside, a black wooden coffin with inscriptions appeared. Seeing the coffin, Dorothy frowned slightly.
