Chapter 418: The Collapsing Space
Lin Nuo’s fist came down with a loud *bang*, striking directly at the dragon man’s barrier, nearly breaking it. However, out of nowhere, humans popped up and launched a left hook right into him.
This human was particularly fierce, starting off with a remark about his “father,” followed by delivering a punch.
With a *boom*, the punch sent the dragon man staggering back, interrupting his spellcasting.
Cursing with rage, the dragon man wondered how reinforcements had arrived—who was this guy?
Most importantly, how could a human be strong enough to hurt him?
“You want to die, huh?”
“Yes!”
Lin Nuo nodded and charged in with a fist, engaging the dragon man in battle.
The Heart of Water Spirit was activated thanks to Su Kexin’s outburst. Lin Nuo figured that her energy had charged the Heart of Water Spirit; once charged, he could fight for a long time.
This strange space was still favorable for dragon men; he felt his punches weren’t as powerful as before, but he could still dish out some damage. If one punch didn’t do the trick, then it would be two, or even three.
He was like an old boxer, skilled in punching seafood.
The dragon man regained his footing, surging with electrical energy in his fists. He could control the range of his electricity, creating a cage wrapped in it, which perfectly trapped Lin Nuo and himself.
And this cage was rapidly shrinking, threatening to zap him with electricity, leaving him with no escape.
Lin Nuo observed the spell; it wasn’t anything new to him. He’d seen an electric shield used by specialized lightning mages on land, although it was rarely employed.
In his understanding, the Sea Domain Dragon Clan should only use water-based techniques, but this was not the case.
It turned out they could also manipulate lightning underwater, showing their versatility.
Seeing Lin Nuo in danger of being enclosed by the shrinking electric cage, the dragon man thought he’d paralyze him and then slowly snuff him out to vent his frustrations.
But Lin Nuo remained calm. He didn’t know if the Heart of Water Spirit could break through the electric cage, but he still had his methods for handling this type of magic.
Though his spiritual energy wasn’t high and his techniques not particularly strong, he liked to outsmart others, knowing what countered what.
“Earth Wind Tide.”
Lin Nuo struck the ground with his palm, causing a black whirlwind to erupt. The whirlwind was small but effectively encompassed him, preventing the electric cage from closing in.
Moreover, the electric cage clung to the outer layer of the Earth Wind Tide. As Lin Nuo moved, it followed, unable to close the distance.
He mused to himself that the Sea Domain Dragon Clan’s magic followed the same rules as that on land. Who knew the humans had probably learned their lightning techniques from these dragon men in the first place?
With the electric cage unable to fully capture Lin Nuo, the dragon man was shocked. “What kind of wind technique is this that can break my electric cage?”
Not all Earth Wind Tides could resist lightning attacks, but he had figured out an upgraded version with that very function.
It primarily derived from his past encounter with a particularly nasty lightning mage he had met, which prompted him to develop this technique for defense.
Thinking back, Lin Nuo hadn’t taught Ling Meng his upgraded Earth Wind Tide; he kept it simple, opting to teach her only the basic version to avoid her surpassing him.
Lin Nuo was eager for a quick finish, not knowing when this Earth Wind Tide might fail. He rushed towards the dragon man for a few quick exchanges.
*Crackle!*
After a few exchanges, Lin Nuo landed a punch squarely in the dragon man’s chest, causing him to spit blood and stumble backward, winded.
“Damn human!”
“Time for a nap.”
With one last punch, blood spewed from the dragon man’s mouth amidst his agonized wails as he was sent flying a hundred meters away.
Two other dragon men were still engaged with Fu, performing a dazzling display of magical combat that shook the very space around them—everything was on the verge of collapsing.
*Boom!*
Fu was hit by the opponent’s powerful magical strike, losing control of the space, which was teetering on the brink of implosion.
The other two dragon men realized the severity of the situation; if the space collapsed, they would share the same fate.
The leading dragon man, Wu Qiong, said to his comrade, “That’s enough. This place will collapse soon. The Sea Domain no longer has protective barriers; a tsunami will swallow the land. We must go and join the others on land.”
“My lord, what about him?”
“Bring him along.”
With that, the two dragon men hurried to the side of their fallen comrade, realizing he was gravely wounded, while the human seemed to be relatively unscathed.
At that moment, Wu Qiong locked eyes with Lin Nuo. Although they didn’t know each other, they were now adversaries.
Wu Qiong found it hard to believe that this human, who didn’t seem particularly strong, could so thoroughly maim his subordinate.
Even though his subordinates hadn’t fully broken the barrier, their intense magical combat with Fu had intensified the already unstable space, leading directly to its imminent collapse. The marine barrier was also about to shatter.
Once the tsunami surged ashore, it would greatly boost the morale of the Sea Domain Dragon Clan and change the perspectives of the nobility in the Dragon Palace. They’d realize that the land wasn’t as terrifying as they imagined. After their traitorous spell fell apart, they would be crushed.
At that point, the Sea Domain Dragon Clan would launch more aggressive offensives, reigniting battles with land-dwelling beings after hundreds of years.
Lin Nuo and Wu Qiong merely exchanged glances without making a move; this wasn’t the time for fighting.
“We’re leaving.”
So Wu Qiong took his fallen comrade to retreat, leaving Lin Nuo, Fu, and the neighbor from Ru Yu Village, Yu Long.
The three dragon men withdrew quickly, and Lin Nuo had no intentions of pursuing. Even if he could kill them, it would be futile here, as he was mainly there to protect the magic array and save Ru Yu Village.
However, it seemed that space was collapsing and the magic array relied on that space; once it crumbled, the array wouldn’t last much longer.
Fu faced off against the two aggressive dragon men from the sea; even on his own turf, he struggled against their expertise, especially with their subordinates aiding them.
He took some hits, coughed a few times, and then stood up.
He realized the risk of collapse was looming, sighing heavily, “Sigh, it seems I can’t stop this.”
With heavy steps, he aimed to return to his original position maintaining the array. Gazing up at the dark clouds and raging seas, he knew the surrounding tsunami was on the verge of breaking loose and that the array would likely fail.
He hoped it could hold out just a bit longer.
Spotting Lin Nuo, he sighed, “Young man, thank you for coming to help. Now let me send you away from here.”
“Is there any hope left?” Lin Nuo asked.
“Not much of a chance anymore.”
“Aren’t you leaving?”
“No.”
Fu shook his head, a hint of helplessness crossing his face,
“After guarding this place for so long, it feels wrong to abandon it and leave everything behind.”
