Chapter 459: For the Young Master
Lin Nuo smoothly completed his assassination mission, throwing the blame onto the Li Huo Society, and then ramped up rumors via informants to create a feud between the two factions.
He had been quite adept at shifting blame; otherwise, he wouldn’t have branded the Refining Demon Sect as the “Blame Sect” right from the start.
As an excellent villain, he ought to possess top-notch blame-shifting skills—whether it was celestial beings or mere dogs, anyone could be swept into his blame game.
Thinking back, he once beat the big yellow dog outside Ru Yu Village and promptly shifted the blame onto the small black dog next door, and lo and behold, the big yellow dog sought out the small black dog later.
And they ended up getting along.
Lin Nuo’s blame-shifting trick not only cleared him of suspicion but also ignited hatred between the two factions, turning his disadvantage into an advantage. Even when he stirred up trouble, it turned to his benefit; truly, he was a peerless villain.
Later, he planned to collaborate with Mu Yiting, taking advantage of the chaos between the two factions, letting her step in and reap the benefits, and even recruit members from both organizations to bolster the power of Helong Hall.
Moreover, before giving any advice, he needed to brief her on his earlier actions, because she needed to know about his interference.
As a subordinate, if you want your superior to know your contributions, silent dedication leads nowhere.
This way, his achievements would pile up, raising his status within Helong Hall, making him a local big shot, able to command the winds and rains.
Of course, he wasn’t particularly concerned about that power.
His main goal was to regain the “Heavenly Rainbow Secret Technique” and the secret realm territory from Helong Hall; these items held great usefulness for him.
The Heavenly Rainbow Secret Technique was a wondrous method from the Xuanyun Sect, and mastering it could indeed grant tremendous power. However, thinking this alone would wipe out the protagonist was terribly naive.
He learned from ancient texts about an even more mysterious power, but it was extremely rare.
Combining the Heavenly Rainbow Secret Technique, the Sealing Demon Technique, and the Black Lotus Stone hidden within a certain secret realm could conjure an awe-inspiring force, possessing great spiritual destructive power, even burrowing itself into the opponent’s heart to become their inner demon.
What was the Sealing Demon Technique? An ultimate path to demonization, a surge of power within the demonic arts.
There was a manual left behind by a predecessor at the Refining Demon Sect, but Lin Nuo couldn’t master it. On one hand, he struggled to obtain the manual, only for the sect master to destroy it—he simply couldn’t learn it.
Actually, the sect master hadn’t mastered it either. If he couldn’t learn it, neither could anyone else.
Later, in a fit of rage, Lin Nuo killed the sect master.
Plus, he lacked materials and needed to scour the secret realm.
But in his last life, by the time he had the power to access the secret realm, it was already gone.
If he could unite these three items, there might be a turning point.
If strength couldn’t overpower, then he could dismantle them spiritually, directly trapping the opponent in a state of isolation, leaving them unable to recover.
Or brainwash them, making “that surname Su” abandon their righteous thoughts, potentially leading them astray—that would be splendid.
But thinking about it, this innocent little darling surnamed Su couldn’t possibly understand the complexities, so what were the chances of her falling victim to becoming his inner demon and ending up isolated?
Yet as she grew older, her mind would also mature, bringing more worries. This transitional phase was the easiest target for interference, a slip into misguided paths.
Could a wise person direct her? Or would she suddenly become a saint after a breakthrough?
He didn’t believe it; if such a breakthrough were all-encompassing, he would jump right off this fishing spot.
Here he referred to the edge of the pond he was fishing at.
Feeling good about running off to fish at someone else’s pond and reaping a bountiful catch certainly added to his mood.
Those fish were a delicious catch from someone else’s pond.
Lin Nuo, to avoid the heat outside, judged it was about time to return to Helong Hall.
With a gust of wind at his feet, the man disappeared into the breeze.
……
At Helong Hall, Mu Family.
“Ni Daye, you’re back!”
“Yes, I’m back.”
Lin Nuo acknowledged his awaiting subordinate with a nod, his tone cold, striking a posture befitting a superior.
“Ni Daye, the Young Master has sent word. If you’ve returned, please see her immediately.”
“Understood.”
Lin Nuo thought, perhaps because he’d stayed out too long, having exceeded the leave he had requested, he’d return to a scolding from the superior, with his performance and pay docked.
Not an issue; he’d spin a tale of his good deeds later, claiming to have stirred up tension between the two factions, maybe even smirk while he was at it.
Following a maid through a long hallway, he arrived at Mu Yiting’s chamber.
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Mu Yiting’s female aide standing under a tree.
Though there was some distance between them, the aide still showed immense respect, greeting him and bowing deeply, like a perfect forty-five-degree angle.
It must be that Mu Yiting had taught her well to respect him.
Generally, men weren’t allowed near Mu Yiting’s boudoir, but Lin Nuo was an exception.
The maid knocked on the door:
“Young Master.”
“Not receiving guests today, do not disturb.” Mu Yiting’s voice came from within.
“Young Master, Ni Daye has returned.”
As soon as her words fell, the door flung open, and upon seeing Ni Daye himself, Mu Yiting could hardly contain her excitement, immediately grasping Lin Nuo’s hand.
“Ah! It’s you! You finally returned! I’ve been waiting for you!”
She beamed like a child of over eighty pounds, thrilled to see a family member who had been away for so long, and after shaking hands, she lunged to hug Lin Nuo, completely ignoring the maid beside them. (Maid: So, do I leave?)
“Apologies, Young Master, I returned late.”
“No, no, it’s just good that you are back. Come in, come in.”
Mu Yiting pulled Lin Nuo’s hand into the room and promptly shut the door.
The standing maid looked utterly helpless, watching the sweet reunion embrace while being completely disregarded as the door was closed in her face.
Such bullying!
Inside the chamber, Mu Yiting quickly offered Lin Nuo some cold herbal tea, along with a Meat Floss Cake—his favorite food, which she certainly wouldn’t forget.
As Lin Nuo glanced at it, he realized it was Mu Family’s authentic cold herbal tea, truly deserving of his devotion.
Before drinking, he felt the need to apologize; after all, as a subordinate, returning late meant he should express his regrets to his master.
“Apologies, Young Master, I had matters to attend to and returned late. Please punish me.”
“Why would I punish you? I’m grateful you came back; I know about your ordeal, you went to get rid of Xu Hu, and got delayed along the way.”
“Young Master, I don’t understand what you mean.”
Lin Nuo was taken aback. Had Mu Yiting accessed the entire map or something? How did she know he’d just dealt with Xu Hu?
“Sigh, don’t hide this matter. Although you tried to keep it secret, my aide investigated and the clues all point to you.”
Lin Nuo thought, good heavens, it must be that girl under the tree outside; she’s got some swift ears.
“Young Master, about this matter…”
“I want to know why you did this. Can you tell me?”
With eyes brimming with sincerity and anticipation, Mu Yiting longed for Lin Nuo to reveal a satisfactory answer.
Lin Nuo considered; it seemed hiding now was not the best strategy. Instead, he might as well be forthright and engaged in honest conversation—a bit loyalty wouldn’t hurt.
He replied solemnly:
“For the Young Master.”
