Chapter 46: How to Face the Enemy

Chapter 46: How to Face the Enemy

“You’re here? Sit down. I called you both here for a reason. You probably already know, right?”

The City Lord had been lounging on the sofa, waiting for their arrival.

“Yeah. I have an idea of what it’s about.”

Aierjisi nodded and took her place opposite the City Lord. Yake stood behind the sofa, not taking a seat.

“Exactly. No wonder you are the Little Princess of the Blood Clan. You really know how to read the room.”

The City Lord smiled slightly, fond of conversing with someone who gets it. It saved him a lot of effort.

“Well then, I’d like to thank you first, City Lord, for your care over these days.”

“Eh? What are you talking about? It’s only natural to look after fellow Earthlings.”

“That makes your care during our stay in Pield even more appreciated. It’s been a lot of fun, although just for a couple of days.”

“Well, if you’ve enjoyed your time here, it’s a great honor for me.”

“So… you don’t need to say it. Yake and I will be packing our things and leaving this city today. I’m sorry for the trouble we’ve caused.”

“Uh-huh. What are you talking about? Wait, you’re leaving today?”

The City Lord finally realized that the Little Princess and he weren’t on the same wavelength. What on earth have they been discussing?

“Yeah. Those enemies are probably after me, and if I stay in this city, I’d just bring more trouble to you, City Lord, so I have to leave.”

Aierjisi also sensed that the City Lord had caught on to something off.

“Hey, there’s no trouble! Anyone who dares to cause chaos in my city, I won’t go easy on them! You don’t need to rush to leave. I will protect your safety here.”

“But staying here will cause you more trouble.”

Aierjisi hesitated a bit, wishing she didn’t have to leave this city so soon.

“So I said it’s no trouble. And the reason I called you here was to discuss the strategy for what’s coming next.”

“Ah? Discuss strategy? Didn’t you call us to kick us out?”

Upon hearing the City Lord say that, Aierjisi was completely confused.

“Did I say that? You two must have thought that. Do I look like such a petty person?”

It seems Aierjisi and Yake didn’t imagine the City Lord as a small-minded guy who kicks people out just because they might cause trouble. He was genuinely getting angry.

“Not at all! Looks like it was us overthinking. Sorry about that!”

It was only then that Aierjisi realized the City Lord never intended to kick them out but rather wanted to team up with them to face the upcoming enemies.

“No problem, as long as you understand now. I’ve heard from Yin that you seem to know a lot about this enemy. If it’s convenient, can you share their intel with me?”

“Of course. But I’m not that familiar with them either, just have had some encounters.”

“That’s fine. Knowing which faction they belong to is enough. Anyone who dares to wreak havoc in my Pield, I’ll make sure they regret it.”

“Alright. But… this might take a while. Do you have some good tea, City Lord?”

Given that explaining the entire backstory might take a lot of talking, Aierjisi figured she might need to chat with the City Lord for the entire day.

“Of course! Do you need me to send someone to prepare some snacks so we can munch while we talk?”

“If possible, please do!”

As soon as Aierjisi heard about snacks, she perked up instantly.

About three hours later…

While munching on the cookies the City Lord had baked, Aierjisi recounted her encounters with the so-called Ultimate Life Forms to the City Lord.

“So, according to you, the ones causing trouble in my city are those claiming to be the Ultimate Life Forms, the Adrian People?”

After listening to Aierjisi’s intel, the City Lord mentally sorted it all out.

“That’s correct! Truly the City Lord, you managed to piece all this together so quickly.”

Being able to quickly organize the information saved Aierjisi from a lot of explanation.

“Okay… just a moment. Let me figure out what steps to take next.”

The City Lord rubbed his temples, organizing the existing intel.

First off, those Adrian People aimed to capture Aierjisi as a sacrifice for their God. That was why she had been on the run looking for allies to fend them off.

However, according to Aierjisi, Adrian People generally don’t attack anyone outside their target. So, the deaths of his guards didn’t make sense.

But Aierjisi also mentioned that the Adrian People could grant their power to others to do their bidding. If that’s the case, combining it with the intel from Yin, he seemed to understand everything now.

“I think I get it. The whole situation’s background and the plan moving forward.”

“Oh? You came up with a strategy that quickly? Can you share it with me?”

Aierjisi leaned in curiously, eager to hear the City Lord’s plan.

“Well, I’ll keep it to myself for now. Once everything is set up, I’ll let you know. Until then, just go about your business as usual, eat, drink, and enjoy your time in this city. I’ll go prepare the arrangements.”

“Mm?”

Watching the City Lord’s retreating figure, Aierjisi tilted her head, unsure of what grand plan he had that he wouldn’t even share with her.

“Is that so? If you need our help when the time comes, we’d love to repay your kindness since you’ve taken care of us here.”

“Of course. If you two could fight alongside us that day, it would greatly increase the success rate of this plan.”

“Oh! I’m looking forward to that day! If there’s nothing else, City Lord, we’ll take our leave now.”

“Mm. Go on. Hope you both have a wonderful day.”

The City Lord waved them off, turning back to gaze out the window.

“A few days from now… if that day were to come, that guy will definitely make a move on me. After all, I know exactly how much I’m despised in this city.”
