Chapter 463: Dark Demon Dancing in the Pool (4k)
“Silver Wolf Knight” Camilla.
“Sun Warrior” Sona.
And the bond connecting them — “Moonlight Swordsman” Alex!
Silver Wolf Knight Camilla and Moonlight Swordsman Alex are half-siblings.
Both have the surname Valentine, making them distant relatives of the current royal family.
While Sun Warrior Sona is Moonlight Swordsman Alex’s wife.
In other words, Sona Montiel Farley is Camilla’s sister-in-law, and she should normally be called “sister.”
However, their relationship is not good; in fact, it’s very bad!
There are many factors involved, but the main reason is Alex’s death.
Alex was a half-breed, his mother being Count Valentine’s second wife, who wasn’t human but rather a rare species of the Elemental Race — a Moon Elf!
Moon Elves are known as dancers under the moonlight, even among the Elemental Race, they are considered high-ranking bloodlines capable of absorbing lunar essence for themselves.
Count Valentine’s lineage shares similar bloodline characteristics with Moon Elves, allowing them to wield lunar magic.
In ancient human empires, those with such bloodlines usually became noble Moon Priests.
It is due to this commonality that Count Valentine managed to win the favor of a Moon Elf despite being human, leading to the birth of Alex.
But in reality, Count Valentine is not a responsible man; he was merely infatuated with the beauty of the Moon Elf and never expected the outcome.
Therefore, Alex can be seen as an unexpected result.
Count Valentine does not like Alex, in fact, he despises him.
Alex’s mother, the Moon Elf, returned to the Elemental Realm after giving birth to the half-breed Alex and never came out again.
From childhood to adulthood, Alex was raised by his sister, Camilla.
If things had continued this way, the siblings might have managed to get by.
But the war broke out, and Count Valentine’s territory was ravaged by the Demon Army.
Count Valentine bravely protected the civilians during the battle and died fighting.
His subordinates fled with Camilla and Alex, but they were scattered by a group of demons, separating Camilla and Alex.
When they met again, Camilla was already famous, and Alex had gained recognition for activating his “Hero Qualities,” earning the approval of one of the Holy Swords.
Afterwards, Sona Montiel Farley, a half-giant, appeared in their lives.
The three formed a team, serving as mercenaries on the battlefield between humans and demons.
Camilla protected her only remaining brother, never letting him face danger lightly.
But Sona believed that this behavior would only make Alex weak.
Their disputes eventually escalated.
After a particularly intense argument, they decided to part ways.
Camilla thought Alex would follow her, but he chose Sona instead, which deeply hurt her.
Soon after, Alex gained fame under the title “Moonlight Swordsman.”
The war intensified further.
Whether it was Camilla, Alex, or Sona, all had deep enmity with the demons.
They joined the army without hesitation.
Though they were divided into northern and southern forces, they always received information about each other through intelligence channels.
One day, Alex and Sona suddenly left the army, and they lost contact completely.
No one expected that their separation would be their last meeting.
After the war ended, Camilla desperately searched for Alex but only learned that he had passed away.
It wasn’t until Sona Montiel Farley established the Free City that Camilla discovered the woman who took her brother away had married him.
…
Years passed.
By the time Camilla and Sona’s daughters grew up, they finally met again in the Duke’s Mansion during a banquet.
Montiel Farley viewed Camilla with some disdain.
But Camilla regarded her as an enemy.
Tensions were high between them.
If they weren’t in the Duke’s Mansion, they likely would have fought long ago!
…
At this moment, Dark was preparing to take Diana’s hand to dance for the birthday party tonight.
He could tell that Rose had no intention of dancing, while Anna and Angie were never in his consideration from the start.
This was the Duke’s Mansion, his territory, so he didn’t need to give much face to the two little princesses.
After dancing with Diana, he would probably dance with Rose, then play with the Golems for a while, and the evening would end, followed by the anticipated gift-opening segment.
Every invited family brought at least one gift, which the maids placed in his bedroom.
His previous birthday gifts were age-appropriate items.
He hoped this year’s gifts would also match his current age.
However, fate had other plans, and the birthday party seemed far from over.
Dark didn’t know who the unexpected guest was, but since they entered the Duke’s Mansion, there shouldn’t be major issues. It seemed this person and Diana’s family had some conflicts?
He looked down at Diana, ready to ask.
Diana quickly shook her head, “Unfamiliar, don’t know, unclear.”
Dark chuckled and observed himself.
Montiel Farley was someone who easily left impressions on others.
When he first saw her, he sensed similarities in height and aura with Professor Pavar Jones.
“Is she a half-giant?”
His gaze shifted to the person beside Montiel Farley.
This glance made him frown.
The person next to Montiel Farley was naturally her daughter, Aurora.
With a quarter of her giant blood and a quarter of her Moon Elf blood, Aurora was vastly different from her tall, rugged-looking mother. She was petite and delicate, with exquisite features.
Her hair, inherited from her father Alex, was pure white and transparent, with a hint of silver at the ends.
More importantly, she bore a striking resemblance to Diana!
Dark watched as Diana’s baby fat gradually disappeared, revealing a sharp chin.
The young girl at the door reminded him of what Diana might look like after another year or two of development.
Of course, it was just a resemblance.
But Dark couldn’t help but ask again, “What about her? Don’t you know her either?”
Diana vigorously shook her head, “No idea.”
Rose’s eyes widened with surprise, hesitantly saying, “Diana, could you have a long-lost sister?”
Diana shook her head again, “How could that be?”
Just then, Princess Anna giggled, “Come on, don’t you even know the Mayor of the Free City? No way!”
Princess Angie added, “That little one is Aurora Montiel Farley, quite famous.”
“Is the Mayor of the Free City the Sun Warrior?”
Dark’s expression changed as he grasped the situation.
But before he could withdraw his gaze, the Aurora Montiel Farley who resembled Diana slightly lifted her head, inheriting her mother’s crimson eyes, and locked onto him.
…
Aurora paid little attention to the standoff between her mother and aunt.
She had long been helping her mother manage household affairs and understood clearly that these two would never fight.
As soon as she entered, she began searching for Dark’s presence and now that she found him, she couldn’t tear her eyes away.
Two months had passed since Easter, and her “fiancé” seemed to have undergone some inexplicable changes.
More captivating than when he won the Easter Duel Festival, he drew her attention more.
She wondered if it was because of Dark’s changes or because their connection would be severed.
People always cherish what they’re about to lose.
Aurora pondered if this was the reason for her increased melancholy.
Her eyes carried a faint sadness, contrasting sharply with the tense atmosphere around her.
…
“Sona, why are you here?”
Alvaraite’s voice halted the escalating conflict.
The piano music remained unchanged.
She personally walked to the door, causing other family members with ulterior motives to fall silent.
Viscount Gretebail and his wife sneered slightly and chose to step back without waiting for the Valkyrie to speak.
Montiel Farley smiled and reined in her aggressive demeanor.
Then she turned to Alvaraite and said gracefully, “Long time no see, I wanted to drop by. Coincidentally, I remembered your child’s birthday, so I hurried over.”
“How considerate of you,” Alvaraite immediately smiled, her gaze directly shifting to Aurora, who stood beside Montiel Farley.
“Is this little Aurora?” she asked, unable to hide her surprise.
“Yes,” Montiel Farley patted Aurora’s head, reminding her, “Hurry up and call Auntie.”
Aurora quickly snapped out of her daze and obediently said, “Auntie Diemon, I’m Aurora.”
“Uh-huh,” Alvaraite walked up to her, bending down and saying, “It’s been almost ten years. You’ve grown as tall as my little treasure.”
Aurora blushed slightly, instinctively tightening her grip on her clothes.
“Don’t stand there, come with me. Have you eaten yet?” Alvaraite grabbed her hand and led her to the main table.
Aurora felt the gazes converging on her, her face flushed, but she tried her best to say, “I’ve eaten a bit.”
“Then eat a bit more,” Alvaraite placed her in the seat where Dark had been sitting, saying, “Let me ask Dark to cut you a piece of cake.”
As she spoke, she waved at Dark.
Dark gave Diana an apologetic look, walked past the four girls, and picked up the knife to cut the cake again.
He cut two pieces of cake, placing them on separate plates and bringing them to Aurora and Montiel Farley.
Montiel Farley sat in Anna’s seat, her demeanor already softened.
Although her initial purpose was to cancel the engagement, she knew better than to mention it in such a setting.
The original “childhood betrothal” had never been publicized.
So, if canceled, it would remain canceled.
Mentioning it in such a setting would only complicate matters further.
Such private matters should be discussed privately.
Only someone with a short-circuited brain would bring such things to the forefront.
Montiel Farley took the cake from Dark and extended her hand to Aurora.
Aurora understood, immediately taking out a small, exquisite box.
Montiel Farley smiled, picked up the box, and handed it to Dark, saying, “Today is our first meeting after you’ve grown up. You can call me Auntie. This is the birthday gift I prepared for you.”
“Thank you, Auntie,” Dark reached out and took the box, feeling warmth emanating from within.
He roughly guessed what was inside and carefully put it away.
Then Montiel Farley introduced Aurora, “This is Aurora. You two have met before when you were younger. Of course, you probably don’t remember now.”
Dark examined Aurora closely and felt that she resembled Diana somewhat.
But seeing the tense standoff between Montiel Farley and Diana’s mother, he knew better than to ask here.
So he simply introduced himself to Aurora and then stepped back.
The music still echoed.
Dark returned to the dance floor, extending his hand directly to Diana.
Diana was surprised and quickly grabbed his hand, accidentally squeezing too hard.
Dark winced inwardly, gripping her hand back and starting to dance.
The two princesses clenched their fists behind their backs.
But after exchanging glances, they reached an understanding.
Then they formed a pair, deliberately moving closer to Dark and Diana.
Rose quietly left the dance floor.
She didn’t return to her seat but leaned against the side, sipping tea, her gaze unconsciously turning toward Aurora at the main table.
Seemingly sensing her gaze, Aurora glanced at Rose in addition to watching Dark.
Their eyes met briefly, both turning shyly away.
At the same time, they both felt a sense of presence from the other.
Rose instinctively felt threatened and couldn’t help worrying about Diana.
But Diana was fully immersed in the joy of being chosen and didn’t notice the subtle actions of Anna and Angie, let alone anything else.
As for Anna and Angie, they suddenly realized that no matter how they moved, they couldn’t step on Dark and Diana’s feet!
Dark had long seen through their intentions and was avoiding them.
Diana wasn’t looking, but Anna and Angie couldn’t step on her feet!
