Chapter 48: New Skill Get√

“99.7%! Come on, Yake, just 0.3% more and we’ll hit the hundred mark!”

Aierjisi looked at the nearly maxed-out skill proficiency, encouraging Yake to continue using the skill.

“Easy for you to say, but I’m the one fighting here!”

Yake kept dodging the giant’s attacks. After defeating this giant several times before, its attack power had become quite overwhelming. Given the situation, Aierjisi’s casual remarks in his mind were really getting on his nerves.

“Oh, come on! It’s only 0.3% left! A few more uses should do the trick!”

Whether it was because of the system settings or something else, the proficiency gain slowed down the closer it got to 100%. At first, it was around 5% per use, but now it had dropped to 0.1%. If the system was man-made, the creator was definitely the same genius who designed the Pinduoduo discount system.

“Fine, fine! I’ll give it my all! Just three more times!”

Yake boldly decided to use Time Piloting once again, erasing the time spent fighting the giant and sprinting to a safer distance.

Why choose to run away instead of fighting the giant? Well, obviously! Killing the giant just meant it would revive and get stronger buffs!

Instead of pointless effort, it was way smarter to run, especially since his goal was just to increase skill proficiency anyway, not to beat the giant.

But really, why did he ever tell Aierjisi that he wanted a sparring partner? Now, this giant was so strong that it was pushing him to the limit!

When the giant noticed Yake had suddenly run far away, it let out an enraged roar and charged at him.

“Aier, it’s coming! Hurry up and use the skill!”

“Don’t rush me! The skill is still on cooldown. You’d better move those legs a bit!”

“What?! The cooldown is that long? No choice then.”

To avoid fighting the giant, Yake turned and ran, trying to increase the distance between them, but unfortunately, the gap was closing at a visible speed.

“Sorry to keep you waiting! The cooldown is finally over! Want to use the skill now?”

“Do I really need to confirm something so obvious? Of course, I want to use it now!”

“Got it! Time Piloting, here we go!”

He activated the skill again, changing directions to run away from the giant, increasing the distance.

Once Time Piloting ended, the giant once again lost its target for about three seconds before locking on to Yake who was still fleeing.

“Aier! Think of something to stop this giant! I can’t keep running like this!”

If this kept up, even if Yake’s stamina held out, his body would still give in. He was already close to hitting 100% fatigue!

“Let me think! Since the last spell failed, it must need a different one. Give me a moment!”

“Are you serious? Do you really need time to think about this?!”

“Unfortunately, yes! There are so many types of spells in our magic book, I sometimes mix them up.”

“Can you at least come up with something?”

“Calm down! Let me think carefully—maybe I’ll figure it out! For now, just focus on escaping or try fighting. No fight, no survival, Yake!”

“Stop putting it so poetically! I’m the one fighting here!”

Though he complained, Yake was still desperately fleeing. If he fought the giant, it would come back to life and gain even more power, eventually becoming even stronger than him!

“Aier, the giant is getting closer! Hurry up and throw out a skill!”

“Really?! It’s that fast?! Oh crap, Time Piloting!”

Once again, he used this skill, and this time, he successfully increased the proficiency to 100%!

“Oh! Yake, a new skill has appeared!”

Aierjisi exclaimed as she looked at the newly unlocked skill. This one seemed pretty powerful!

“Forget the new skill for now! Think about how we can deal with this giant! I can barely hold on!”

Yake’s situation was looking pretty grim now. His legs were screaming in pain. If he kept this up, his legs might really break!

“What if I told you this new skill can actually handle the giant for us?!”

“Huh? It can do that?!”

“Of course! But it’s our first time using it, so it might be a bit taxing. Are you sure you want to use it?”

“Don’t ask the obvious! If it can handle this giant, I’m using it! Let’s go!”

Yake grabbed onto this lifeline; if this skill could save them, he could handle whatever burden came with it.

“Calm down, okay? Alright! I will use this skill! Yake, aim your hand at the giant, because it needs a target!”

“Okay!”

Yake raised his exhausted arm toward the giant.

“Ready, Aier?”

“Adjust your aim a bit! This skill can only be used once! If you miss, we’re toast!”

“Ugh…”

Yake had to brace his other hand against the first to steady it, making sure he aimed well.

“Perfect! Don’t move! Time Tyrant!”

With the aim locked on the giant, Aierjisi unleashed the newly learned skill.
