Chapter 499 Dark Demon Wants to Dive (10k)
Dark Demon and Angus Jeffrey did not develop any estrangement due to the outcome of this Mana Duel—at least not on the surface.
After their duel ended, they returned to their original seats, acting familiarly with each other, as if they were good seniors and juniors.
However, the news that Jeffrey lost to Dark Demon in the Mana Duel had quietly spread.
Those who observed closely even caught the detail of Dark Demon not using his cards in the last two rounds, leading to various speculations about the duel.
People always enjoyed dramatic things.
Even if they weren’t originally interested, they were still happy to spread the news.
Perhaps by tonight, Jeffrey would find out that this news had already reached his father’s ears.
…
In the secret box.
Prince Charles fell into deep thought after watching the duel.
He finally got to see the performance of the Lion Beast and Deoxys, gaining a deeper understanding of the power of that “Holy Sword.”
But for some reason, he felt like he had overlooked something?
Yet, he couldn’t quite put his finger on what it was.
This made him increasingly restless.
Just like when he saw Dark Demon defeat Angus Jeffrey, he felt the same restlessness.
The more he interacted with this young Master Demon, the stronger this feeling became.
It was as if the group of golden age heroes led by the Hero Black during wartime had come alive from legends.
Sometimes, he found it hard to understand why there were so many geniuses in this world.
Even though he considered himself outstanding, compared to those true geniuses, he always felt inferior.
Every time he compared himself, he tried to detach himself from his identity, only to realize that in front of these geniuses, he was no different from an ordinary person.
When he was younger, he confided in his father, the king.
But his father merely told him that such thoughts were not meant for him.
Everyone has inherent qualities, and one should not envy others but rather discover themselves.
Moreover, there was no need to detach himself to compare with others.
Because his “identity” was his “talent.”
He could never fully grasp this, even now.
After much contemplation.
Charles suddenly opened his eyes and looked at the seated Dark Demon, finally catching a spark of insight.
“Could he become the next Valkyrie?”
“Not a ‘Hero,’ but a ‘War God’?”
Once this idea arose, it became difficult to suppress.
In the current kingdom, “Hero” was a role that had passed away, existing only in legend.
A deceased person, no matter how famous, would not pose a threat.
On the other hand, while the “Valkyrie’s” reputation was slightly less than that of the “Hero,” she was still alive and could live long due to her “Saint’s Body.”
If Dark Demon also grew up in the future…
The Demon family might gain a second “War God.”
Such a family…
“In the long run, if we can’t stop them, we must ally with them.”
“Promoting Dark Demon as a ‘Hero’ is a strategy.”
“Using this to win him over is also a strategy.”
“They don’t conflict.”
“It just requires a slight adjustment in our inclination.”
“If Elisabeth has gained the favor of the Valkyrie, how can I win over the son of the Valkyrie? This is also a method.”
“I really need to think about this!”
Charles pondered for a long time on the sofa before suddenly lying down, overcome by drowsiness.
…
In the circular corridor.
Jeffrey struggled to chat with Dark Demon for half an hour, trying to peek into the secrets of the “Sin World” but failing.
He then found an excuse to slip away successfully.
Dark Demon sighed in relief when he saw Jeffrey leave; he didn’t enjoy such superficial interactions.
Surprisingly, although Jeffrey left, a few noble youths in his circle stayed behind.
Both groups were young adults, and without involving any conflicts of interest, they had endless topics to discuss.
As they talked, Phyllis Laraman couldn’t help but mention “Hero’s Child.”
For outsiders like them, the topic of “Hero’s Child” was naturally intriguing; many wanted to know what Hero Bret’s son was like.
Since Dark was a classmate, Phyllis couldn’t help but ask.
Dark smiled slightly and casually shared some trivial information.
He wasn’t the type to speak ill of others behind their backs, so he just shared easily verifiable facts.
Phyllis was surprised when he heard this: “Wait, Wit Gold is actually in the Knight Academy? I thought… he must be in the Noble Academy!”
Dark blinked and said, “Perhaps his courage is more representative compared to his noble bloodline.”
Of course, he couldn’t tell Phyllis that Wit had another bloodline—possibly even that of the Demon King.
Phyllis and the others exchanged glances, accepting his explanation.
After all, Wit Gold was the “Hero’s Child”; it was normal that his courage surpassed his lineage.
They continued chatting, and a chubby noble youth suddenly asked, “I heard that the models and Easter eggs sold during Easter at your academy were planned by a student?”
Dark was slightly taken aback but then laughed, “Yes, that’s right.”
The noble youth exclaimed, “That’s a terrifying design! It’s said that since Easter, your academy’s Easter eggs have been火爆, and they’re still expanding the market.
If it develops well, I mean… do you know who that student is? I’d really like to have a drink with him.”
Dark replied, “If it’s just tea…”
The noble youth sensed an opportunity and quickly said, “Not exactly, I have some business ideas I want to discuss with him.”
“Hmm?” Dark became interested, “What kind of cooperation? Can you give me a hint?”
The noble youth glanced around, looking uneasy.
Phyllis coldly stared at him and said, “Oyeni, what’s with the suspense?”
Brent Oyeni scratched his head and said, “Laraman, it’s a business secret.”
“Hmph.” Phyllis looked at him with disdain, “Business secret? You?”
Brent’s face reddened, embarrassed, “What’s wrong with me? Since the first half of this year, I’ve been involved in family business; I’m not the same person anymore!”
“Alright.” Phyllis raised an eyebrow, “Then tell me your secret. Let me see if it’s valuable.”
“That
“Alright, I…” Brown suddenly paused, his expression turning stern as he glared, “You’re deceiving me again!”
“Tsk.” Phelix clicked his tongue, averting his gaze.
Dark, however, was quite enthusiastic, “If you’re from the Oyane Chamber, then?”
Brown’s expression softened slightly as he said, “The Oyane Chamber is indeed affiliated with our family.”
Dark asked curiously, “Is it okay for nobles to engage in trade?”
Brown replied, “It wasn’t acceptable before, but now it’s different. Who would reject more money? However, the public face of the Oyane Chamber is still my uncle, who doesn’t hold any position in the Kingdom.”
Dark nodded, his gaze peculiar, as if he could already see the future trends of capitalization in the Kingdom.
In this era where individual power was becoming increasingly exaggerated, the future of capitalization in the Kingdom should also have its unique characteristics.
The Dimon Family was involved in politics and military affairs, but their progress in commerce seemed limited.
Take, for example, the “Enchantment Hall” which the Dimon Family participated in; it was not purely a profit-making venue.
Compared to politics and military affairs, Dark was more interested in commerce.
After all, who didn’t like to get rich?
Moreover, the development of mana technology indeed required substantial wealth as support.
Although the Dimon Family was wealthy, it was for the entire family. Even if he became the head in the future, he couldn’t use the funds casually.
If he had his own direct chamber, he could use the funds freely.
At that time, he might even be able to monetize some mana technologies.
Thinking of this, Dark looked up and said, “I know the person who planned the model easter eggs. How about we schedule a meeting tomorrow? It happens to be Sunday.”
“That would be perfect!” Brown Oyane quickly responded.
Dark smiled faintly, “No problem. Why don’t we meet at my place around one in the afternoon?”
Brown was taken aback, “That would be too much trouble…”
Dark leaned back on the sofa lazily, saying, “What trouble? We’re all young people, just visiting each other. Or do you have something to hide?”
Brown turned his head slightly, feeling somewhat embarrassed, “Not really.”
Phelix suddenly said, “Go ahead.”
Brown hesitated, “So I’ll go?”
“Tsk.” Phelix clicked his tongue again, “What’s there to hesitate about? If I could visit the Valkyrie’s home, I’d run over there right away.”
Brown rubbed his hands and said, “True. It’s one o’clock tomorrow afternoon, right?”
Dark laughed, “Right, afternoon tea.”
Then he turned to the others politely, “Would you like to join us?”
Unexpectedly, these people who were clearly with Jeffrey all nodded eagerly, as if they wanted to jump straight into the Duke’s Mansion!
Dark felt somewhat awkward but couldn’t retract his invitation, so he let Trina write down their names to let the guards admit them later.
Phelix’s eyes crinkled with laughter.
…
As evening approached, the younger noble children began to take their leave. The remaining two found an excuse to go elsewhere.
Afterwards, Dark dined with Diana and the mana golems in the circular corridor.
The evening water dance show was exceptionally dazzling, leaving people spellbound.
Especially the young lady in the tight swimsuit, her long swan-like neck left a deep impression.
But the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the upcoming mana duel performance.
Dark stayed behind specifically to enjoy this performance.
Formal duels focused on quick victories, so duelists used every means possible, calculating every second of attack and defense. The appeal of duels lay in intense confrontations rather than flashy techniques.
However, the performance duel had a completely different focus.
They preferred to showcase dazzling techniques during the duel, making the entire process more dramatic.
The guest performer “Butterfly Princess” was an expert in performance duels.
Of course, even in formal duels, her combat style was extremely dazzling.
After eating and drinking their fill, Dark and company leisurely awaited the appearance of “Butterfly Princess.”
Many nobles came to greet them, men and women, old and young, all present.
But those people seemed to have some insight, greeting them briefly and then leaving, without causing too much disturbance.
Mostly, they came just to leave an impression.
Perhaps next time they met, they could say, “Long time no see.”
…
At exactly eight o’clock in the evening.
The mana duel performance finally began.
The duelist named “Butterfly Princess” made a grand entrance riding a mana golem, indeed a very beautiful lady.
She wore her red hair in a bun, revealing her slender white neck. Her figure was tall and slender yet well-proportioned, dressed in a splendid performance outfit with a touch of an actor’s flair.
Her opponent was a professional duelist trained by the hall, also a lady with considerable beauty.
Their duel was extremely magnificent, leaving people in awe.
However, halfway through, Dark couldn’t help shaking his head.
While the exterior was splendid, the inner substance was lacking.
This viewing experience made him realize the gap between external duelists and Saint Maryann Academy.
It was like an abyss.
“No wonder the duels in the academy are so popular, with seats filled by tens of thousands.”
After pondering for a moment, he decided to simply watch it as a performance, finding it comfortable.
…
After the mana duel ended, Dark did not stay, calling Diana and others to board the carriage for their return.
The carriage traveled through the quiet night, bathed in the moonlight, peaceful and serene.
A smooth journey.
…
Despite the recent mixed crowd in the capital, most people valued their lives.
During this outing, Dark encountered no petty thieves and safely returned to the Duke’s Mansion.
Upon entering, due to the late hour, Dark invited Diana to stay overnight.
Diana naturally agreed. After instructing the maidservant to deliver a letter to the Gretbail family, she happily entered Aurora’s room.
The two sisters were ready for a night-long chat.
Dark could only smile helplessly and return to his room.
Then he first bathed and changed, cleansing himself of the dust, sat down at the experimental table, and summoned the system panel.
“System, display metrics.”
[Yes.]
Moments later…
Seven metrics appeared in Dark’s vision.
[Pride: 98]
[Envy: 43]
[Wrath: 77]
[Sloth: 67]
[Greed: 91]
[Gluttony: 78]
[Bliss: 91]
Today was the seventh night of July, far from the月初 data.
Too many changes.
The system’s metrics do not round off; they simply truncate the decimal places.
During this period, apart from “Envy” and “Sloth” each dropping by one point, “Greed” and “Bliss” only saw slight increases after being extracted.
The main event was undoubtedly on “Pride”!
Previously drained down to just over 90 points, “Pride” surged to 98 points!
“Senior Jeffrey is truly a good person!”
Looking at the ability to draw “Pride” six more times, Dak couldn’t help but sigh.
He didn’t bother to consider Jeffrey’s reasons for his actions because such childish games had no significant impact on him.
On the contrary…
In the absence of experimental materials, he actually hoped that such acts of kindness would happen more often.
“Anyway, let’s start with a drop of ‘Pride’!”
Every time Dak drew “Pride,” he felt a sense of unease.
Because he hadn’t actually researched the exclusive炼成阵 for “Pride IV,” and hadn’t even made any progress.
This made every little accumulation feel inexplicably futile.
It was like a squirrel storing food for winter, only for winter not to come.
When “Pride” accumulated to 30 points, perhaps he still wouldn’t have a clue.
At that time, he might have to find a way to use those 30 points of “Pride.”
That would truly be a deeply sorrowful thing.
Dak sighed, embraced his arms, and then fell asleep.
…
July 7th, after noon.
The weather was slightly overcast, with a few raindrops falling, but the clouds hung high and did not fall, making the air humid.
Phelix Laraman, Brown Oenone, and three other shameless noble men and women arrived one after another.
Alvaraite, upon learning that her treasure had invited people to the tea party, excitedly instructed Olivia to treat them lavishly.
If she didn’t have official duties, she would certainly fulfill her role as a good mother and personally arrange everything.
While Dak was relieved about Alvaraite’s busy schedule, he instructed Olivia to keep things simple, and he entertained the guests in the living room on the second floor.
“Valkyrie… I mean, is the Duke not here?”
Phelix asked eagerly as soon as he saw Dak, his eyes sparkling.
“The situation in the capital city has been unstable recently.”
Dak replied lightly, quickly moving past the topic.
Phelix visibly disappointed, but once she reached the second floor of the mansion, she was captivated by the “Paradise” displayed throughout the corridor.
She looked around like Alice entering a dream, holding up her skirt.
The other four noble children followed behind her, trembling with fear.
Inviting themselves over was one thing, but how to act once they arrived was quite another.
They had clearly been warned by their parents before coming, making them more reserved than the day before.
After Dak led them into the living room and dismissed the maidservant, he personally served the tea.
His casual demeanor put the noble children at ease.
Dak didn’t really understand why these people were attending his impromptu tea party, but it didn’t stop him from performing his host duties.
“Taste this—Freecity’s specialty—lemon tea.”
As Phelix and others looked on in surprise, Dak picked up a square ice cube from the ice box and placed it in the lemon tea already steeped in cold water.
As the ice and water mixed, the temperature of the lemon tea rapidly dropped to freezing.
Dak shook the specially selected glass teacup and handed it to each of them.
“Is this iced tea?” Phelix couldn’t help but ask.
Dak smiled slightly, “Late-scented lemon.”
…
Just as Phelix and the others were carefully tasting the iced lemon tea, Diana and Aurora entered the living room, giggling.
Phelix was surprised by their presence but didn’t show it.
The news of the close relationship between the daughter of the Gretbail family and the eldest son of the Demon family had long spread among the gossip circles of noble ladies and girls.
However, due to their young age, the middle-aged women who were keen on matchmaking quickly set it aside.
Instead, the noble ladies paid close attention.
Especially those of Dak Demon’s age.
Although Dak had a bad reputation before, there were other noble sons who were even more outrageous.
Compared to them, at least he didn’t have any messy rumors about his relationships.
Moreover, his background and status—especially being the son of a Valkyrie—added greatly to his appeal!
As Alvaraite, the kingdom’s female idol, marrying Dak Demon meant becoming her “daughter,” which was incredibly attractive.
Therefore, Dak had always been one of the top three choices for marriage for many girls his age.
Only because he wasn’t old enough yet, the door to the Duke’s mansion hadn’t been trampled.
Now, seeing that Dak was only a year away from turning fourteen, and suddenly having a close opposite-sex companion, it was natural to attract attention.
Although Phelix had no interest in Dak, who was three years younger than her, she was very happy to watch the gossip.
Seeing Diana sit casually next to Dak, she narrowed her eyes and smiled like a fox who had found a big melon.
Perhaps by the end of the day, rumors of Dak and Diana living together would spread uncontrollably.
But Dak himself remained oblivious. He served ice lemon tea to Diana and Aurora and said to Brown Oenone, “Brown, your… your business secrets, is it convenient to discuss here? If not, we can move elsewhere.”
Brown rubbed his chubby cheeks and asked, “What about the planner?”
Dak smiled and pointed at himself.
Brown first looked puzzled, then surprised, and exclaimed, “Could it be you who planned it?”
Dak slowly said, “If you’re referring to the proposer of the model Easter Eggs, then yes, it’s me. What do you want to collaborate on?”
Brown looked around, calming himself down, “Can we go somewhere else?”
“Sure, let’s go somewhere else.”
Dak nodded and said to Phelix and the others, “Let Aurora and Diana entertain you first.”
With that, he led Brown out of the living room.
Phelix watched his back, pounding her fists together, “Confirmed!”
Models and mana chess sets could be bundled together for marketing? For example, designing the models inside the model eggs to be pieces in the mana chess set.”
Brown quickly nodded: “That’s right. Isn’t this a great idea? You see, although the models in the model eggs have varying levels of popularity, ultimately they only have ornamental and collectible value, with no practical use. But if they were paired with mana chess… they would undoubtedly become more precious!”
Dark narrowed his eyes and said, “But you should know that making mana chess pieces comes at a cost. If every model egg was redesigned as a mana chess piece, the costs would skyrocket, and ordinary people wouldn’t be able to afford them.
Moreover, mana chess is still a niche game among mana users, and its rules are too complex.”
Brown subconsciously said, “But we can improve it!”
Dark raised his hand to stop him from continuing: “I understand. You want to simplify the rules of mana chess so that it doesn’t require mana to play. In that case, the cost of the pieces would also decrease. But why not create a new type of board game specifically designed for these model eggs?”
Brown stammered, “This…”
Dark smiled slightly: “Actually, there’s already a ready-made game. We don’t need to customize anything. You know, nobody dislikes mana duels.”
Brown was completely baffled; he hadn’t said many words, yet the thirteen-year-old boy across from him had a flood of ideas he never considered.
But Dark already had a relatively mature idea: “The practicality of model eggs is indeed an issue. Changes in the times and environment lead to changes in consumer preferences.
Without practical value, the popularity of model eggs might not last. Moreover, their audience would become increasingly narrow. Truly epoch-making products should be enjoyed by everyone.”
As Brown listened, his eyes widened in disbelief. He couldn’t understand what Dark was planning.
But Dark had simply come up with the concept of a “duel disk” after receiving his reminder.
A duel disk, originally used in “Yu-Gi-Oh!” to project monster images and card effects.
However, such projection devices require very high mana technology.
Complex effects and intricate chains, if implemented, would likely result in a duel disk that, like mana chess, would only appeal to mana users.
Thus, simplification was necessary.
Remove complex ultimate skills and life points settings, retain only attack and defense functions, and add at most one direct damage or simple control ultimate skill.
The projections displayed on the duel disk don’t need to move; they just need to “launch” attacks.
This makes the entire duel much simpler.
As for gameplay, it could be achieved through incorporating mana duel rules and round-based summoning limits.
Lastly, to make duel disks popular, a recharge card—no, an energy card—was needed!
Almost revealing his ulterior motives, Dark continued, “If we imitate mana duels, using model eggs isn’t convenient. We could pair each model egg with a card that can be inserted into the duel disk, thus bundling them for sale. Then, whether someone wants a model egg or a duel card, they would have to buy the egg!”
Brown: “…”
As Dark became more enthusiastic, he started drawing designs on paper.
If this game succeeded:
Selling model eggs and cards would be a profit point.
Selling duel disks would be another.
Selling energy cards would be yet another.
It would be hard not to make a fortune!
“Thought about making some pocket money last night, but now I have an idea.”
Dark was thrilled.
After a while, seeing how seriously Brown was taking it, he quietly stood up, trying to leave the room.
Dark looked up and asked, “Where are you going?”
Brown froze and turned back awkwardly, “Don’t want to disturb.”
Dark was puzzled, “We’re discussing cooperation, aren’t we?”
“This…” Brown hesitated, “But all the ideas are yours. I haven’t contributed much.”
Dark’s mind raced, sensing his thoughts, and smiled, “Not exactly. The Eugenie商会 is your family’s business. If this plan succeeds, we’ll need distribution and promotion, and there will be plenty of opportunities to collaborate.”
Hearing this, Brown suddenly perked up and sat back down.
Although he hadn’t provided any ideas in the planning phase, distribution and promotion were exactly what the Eugenie商会 excelled at.
If he could help secure such a big deal for the family, his status within the family would be solidified.
Then, no one would dare mock him for his zero scores in school anymore!
I, Brown Eugenie, am not stupid!
…
Sorting his thoughts, Dark gathered the written papers and smiled, “Don’t rush. This is just a plan. Whether it succeeds and adapts to the market remains to be seen.
Given the success of model eggs, its probability of success is higher. So, you don’t need to rush to tell your family.”
“I get it!” Brown immediately said, “Trade secrets!”
Dark nodded, looking approvingly at him and giving him a thumbs-up.
Their relationship instantly grew closer.
By the time they returned to the living room, they were already comfortable talking to each other.
Phelix was surprised by their change and asked curiously, “Looks like the negotiations went well?”
“Not bad,” Dark nodded.
In fact, the plan had three profit points.
The main revenue would come from selling model eggs and cards, which belonged to Saint Maryann’s profit point.
He planned to acquire manufacturing and sales rights for duel disks and energy cards, which would be his profit point.
The academy would take the bigger share, and he would take the smaller share. Professor Shylph and Principal Altair would likely agree since he came up with the whole plan.
“But this matter isn’t urgent. After the execution ritual in mid-July, I’ll discuss it with my mother and Claire.”
“At that time, we can select a head maid from home to start a new business and liaise with Saint Maryann Academy.”
“Let me think, perhaps a head maid from the Libra constellation would be a good choice.”
Dark sat on the sofa, opened his mouth, and bit into the grape that Diana casually handed him—of course, peeled.
Then, they calmly concluded the tea party.
Since they weren’t close, Dark didn’t bring them to play in the backyard.
Around four o’clock, the tea party came to an end.
The five guests left one after another.
Except for Brown who gained something and Phelix who ate some fruit, the other three noble scions seemed to just go through the motions, and it was unclear what they were hoping to achieve.
“Perhaps I should inquire about their family’s stance?”
Dark propped his chin and thought for a moment. Asking “Scorpio” Chris about such matters would likely yield simple information.
But as soon as he mentioned Chris, his heart stirred as he recalled the two elders of the Knowledge God Sect he had met yesterday at noon.
“Oh right, I forgot!”
…
He then broke away from Diana and Aurora, finding Olivia alone and asked her to summon Chris.
Chris, still dressed in her usual fresh manner with a single ponytail casually swinging behind her, was petite.
“Good afternoon, young master.”
When she emerged from the shadow in the corner, Dark was no longer surprised.
“Sit.”
He pushed the pre-brewed iced lemon tea towards her.
Chris sat down as instructed, then picked up the teacup, extending her dainty tongue to gently lick it.
“Sss—”
The coolness and sweetness simultaneously stimulated her taste buds, causing her to retract her tongue involuntarily.
Dark couldn’t help but smile. “How is it?”
Chris brought the teacup back to her lips, took a light sip, closed her eyes to savor it for a long while, then said, “Even if it’s laced with poison, the tea you bestowed upon me is delightful.”
Dark: “…”
Can we be normal?
Olivia, standing by, couldn’t help but cover her mouth and laugh softly. “Ice cubes with lemon tea, truly a double enhancement. It’s such a simple combination, yet I never thought of it before.”
As she spoke, she added, “And regarding the milk tea you mentioned, I have some ideas. Would you like to try it tonight?”
Dark nodded. “Sure.”
Olivia: “But I’ll make it hot.”
Dark: “Milk tea is better when it’s warm.”
Olivia looked delighted.
Only then did Dark turn to Chris and say, “Speaking of that person named Ignatz Cooper, is he still in the ice storage?”
Chris shook her head indifferently. “That person? Afraid he’d dirty the ice storage, so I threw him out early on.”
“Where did you throw him?” Dark asked curiously.
Chris replied, “Gray Mist Forest.”
Dark: “There?”
Chris grinned, revealing a rare, youthful smile that suited her age. “Didn’t he like dreaming? I let him dream to his heart’s content!”
Dark’s expression froze as he recalled his own experience with the gray mist dream on the magic train. He couldn’t help but ask curiously, “What kind of dreams will he have?”
Chris flicked her finger, pulling out a multicolored poisonous needle and slowly twirled it. “Probably nightmares like a snake-filled hell. If he likes snakes, he might never want to leave.”
Dark shivered slightly at the thought.
To shift the focus, he quickly said, “It’s been a month, is he still alive?”
“I don’t know.” Chris shook her head. “I’m not a demon, naturally I wouldn’t let the forest rangers there keep him alive. As for whether the ranger has done anything to him out of spite, that’s none of my concern. Maybe they get along well, and the ranger takes good care of him?”
“Haha,” Dark forced a laugh, thinking Chris might have a wrong understanding of “demons.”
So he said according to his previous thoughts, “Since he’s still alive, let him stay there for another two months. When I start school, I’ll release him.”
Chris’ lips curled up. “Understood.”
The young master is indeed merciful, only punishing him for three months before releasing him.
Dark couldn’t bear to look at her smile and lowered his head to drink some iced lemon tea, asking, “Have you checked on the few people who came to the mansion today?”
Chris gave a professional smile. “Of course. Last night, I already sent the information to His Grace. If you also want a copy, I can have it delivered right away.”
“Bring one over.” Dark nodded. “Also, send someone to watch over Aaron Reed and Aviva Julius from the Knowledge God Sect.”
Chris gestured lightly and whispered, “What does the young master want?”
Dark blushed. “Respect the elderly and cherish the young. They’re quite old, so it’s not easy for them. I mean, if they neglect their health, help them out.”
Chris “Oh” ed and said, “Forced sleep spells, I’m familiar with them.”
“Alright, alright.” Dark said, “Bring the files over.”
Chris nodded, but clearly had no intention of leaving.
She must have communicated somehow because shortly after, a maid from the “Scorpio Palace Maids” group knocked and entered, handing Dark a thick stack of documents.
Dark glanced at them and placed them on the table, starting to review them from the top.
First was one of the three noble scions who had attended the tea party.
Despite attending, Dark’s impression of them remained very superficial, knowing only their names.
He flipped through casually and understood, “A fence-sitter.”
“Yes.” Chris nodded. “Someone dispensable. If the young master wants him gone, he can disappear.”
“No need.” Dark quickly raised his hand.
Chris looked puzzled. “What is the young master thinking? I meant to keep him away from you.”
“Alright.” Dark lowered his head to continue reviewing the next file.
After finishing the remaining two noble scions’ files, he realized these three were merely extras, including their fathers, who were also freeloaders.
But those living in the cracks of society actually faced immense pressure.
He didn’t look down on them, but merely shook his head in sigh.
Such people, of course, cannot become friends.
Then he reached for the files on Brown or Phelix, only to suddenly realize that this thick stack hadn’t diminished at all!
“So who are all these files about?”
Dark frowned and separated Brown and Phelix’s files.
Suddenly, he noticed Brown’s file only had five pages, while the remaining fifty pages were all about Phelix!
This made him look up at Chris, who seemed pleased and acted as if she correctly understood his intentions.
But weren’t you guessing Alvaraite’s intentions?
