Chapter 5: Why Won’t This Damn Rain Stop
When those two finally woke up, the damn storm outside was still raging on, which really ticked Aierjisi off.
“I swear, this weather is ridiculous! It’s been a whole night, and how is this rain still pouring?”
The Little Princess fumed, pointing outside and cursing up a storm. Unlike her, Yake was surprisingly calm at the moment. He was even boiling water for tea.
“Yake, what’s wrong with you? It’s a mess out here, and you still have the time to make tea!”
Seeing her servant just sitting there quietly drinking tea instead of joining her in her panic made Aierjisi even angrier.
“Aier, don’t get too worked up about it. No matter how mad you are, you can’t stop the rain. Rather than staying angry, wouldn’t you prefer a nice cup of hot tea to warm you up? Here, have a sip.”
Yake poured a cup of tea and handed it to her. He had a point; Aierjisi wasn’t powerful enough to control the weather, so it made more sense to enjoy a cup of tea instead of sulking.
“Pfft!!! It’s so hot! Yake, how do you make your tea so hot? And you can actually drink this?”
As soon as she took a sip, Aierjisi burned her mouth and immediately spat the tea out. Wasn’t this tea a tad too hot?
“Tea is best enjoyed hot, of course. There are some teas meant to be cool, but on a stormy day like this, don’t you find a cup of hot tea comforting?”
Yake took another sip, blowing gently on the tea to cool it down.
“Hmm… you have a point. Tea tasting seems to be an art that requires some study.”
Imitating Yake, Aierjisi sat by the fire, warming herself while sipping at her tea now and then. It helped calm her agitated mood, and she indeed felt better.
“By the way, Aier, I have two questions for you.”
“What is it? Go ahead and ask.”
“Since we need to hurry to Panimir to find that Ice Dragon named Ailin, why are we walking when we could just fly over? You can fly, right?”
Yake never understood this. If they could fly, why not just go for it?
“Well, that’s simple. I’m not a dragon or a phoenix that can fly for long stretches. My Flight Technique doesn’t allow for long-distance flights. And… since it’s a journey, we should enjoy the sights along the way! If we just flew over, we’d miss so many interesting things.”
Seriously, this was a once-in-a-lifetime trip to a game world! How could she not enjoy the scenery?
“Uh, fine. Then I guess there’s no need to ask about the second question.”
Understanding that the Little Princess wanted to take in the sights, Yake kept quiet. The second question seemed pointless now.
“Come on, tell me! I want to hear your second question!”
Even if Yake didn’t say it, Aierjisi was curious about what it was.
“It’s nothing, really. Just wondering if you know any Teleportation Techniques. If you do, we could get to a nearby town without hiding here in this cave.”
“Well, I did learn a little Teleportation Technique from Aisi. But the problem is, what are the exact coordinates of the nearby town? Without specific coordinates, I can’t activate the teleportation array.”
Aierjisi shrugged. Just like you need a destination for a train ride, you also need a location to use the teleportation array.
“Ah… coordinates are a bit of a hassle. Wait a moment; let me check the map my dad left me. Maybe he marked the coordinates.”
Yake pulled out the map and examined it closely. Unfortunately, his dad hadn’t marked any of the locations.
“Anything?”
“Nope.”
Yake shook his head with a look of disappointment. It seemed even his dad couldn’t do everything.
“Well, then, we’ll just have to wait quietly for the rain to stop. I’m going back to sleep for a bit. What about you, Yake? Want to lie down as well?”
Stuck in this cave, Aierjisi felt super bored and decided to crawl back into her sleeping bag to kill some time.
“I’ll pass. I’ll stay awake for a while longer, keeping an eye on the weather. I’ll call you when the rain stops.”
“Alright, I leave it to you then. I’m going to sleep now.”
With the task of watching the weather handed to Yake, Aierjisi closed her eyes and quickly fell asleep. Yake sat by the fire, glancing out to see if the rain had stopped.
“Pfft!”
It must have been the canned meat from yesterday that didn’t sit well. Yake suddenly let out a fart, and, wow, did it stink!
“Ugh… that’s terrible… is this smelly tofu or something?”
Even the Little Princess, who was asleep, wrinkled her nose at the sound. But it seemed that in her dream, she mistook the smell for smelly tofu and didn’t wake up.
【Forget it. I’ll check by the cave entrance to see if there’s a place to go take a dump.】
Feeling the urge to relieve himself, Yake hurried to the cave entrance to handle his business.
“Ugh… this canned meat wasn’t worth it. I spent 2 silver coins on it, and not only does it taste bad, but it gave me a stomachache too. Seriously.”
Holding his stomach, Yake returned deeper into the cave, lamenting the canned meat while taking off his shirt to warm his upper body by the fire.
【This storm might last for several days. I wonder how things are back home? Should be alright, right?】
Looking out, Yake, who had just left home for less than 24 hours, already started missing it. His mom and Xier had to be missing him too. If only he could go back and see them!
Meanwhile, back at home…
“Come on, Xier, Aisi. Try my latest invention, apple pie! How is it?”
“Yum! Just like Mom, this has that sweet and sour taste—so tasty!”
“Madam, this is called apple pie, right? Can you teach me how to make it? I want to make something this delicious for the Princess!”
Outside, the sun was shining bright, and Reina was enjoying afternoon tea with Xier and Aisi in the yard.
