Chapter 50

Chapter 050: Mia’s Magical Place

After finishing dinner together, they headed to Mia’s dormitory.

This was Dekan’s first time visiting the dormitory building of the Alchemy Academy.

After a simple registration with the administrator, Dekan was allowed entry into the Alchemy Academy dorms.

The overall structure was not much different from the Knight Academy’s dormitory building.

Only the arrangement of shops and public facilities varied.

“Hopefully, we won’t run into Alice.”

Dekan asked while walking down the corridor.

Mia was a second-year student and had mentioned that she lived next to Alice.

There might be a chance they encounter her soon.

If Alice sees her close friend bringing Dekan into her room, her expression would undoubtedly become very interesting.

Mia: “Don’t worry, Alice is at the library right now. She will be especially hardworking these few days. Well, she has always been a diligent student.”

Dekan: “Are you sure?”

Mia: “Don’t worry, I know Alice well.”

Dekan: “That’s good.”

Mia: “…Why do I feel like you’re a little disappointed?”

Dekan: “How could that be?”

Mia gave a light laugh and stopped observing Dekan’s expression.

At this time, there weren’t many girls walking in the corridor, and male visitors weren’t particularly unusual either.

After all, Alchemy Academy students are engaged in academic research.

Even during their breaks, classmates often visit each other to discuss their topics.

But Dekan was too conspicuous.

Being one of the most prominent figures, he couldn’t help but attract attention.

To avoid gossip, Mia lead Dekan through a slightly roundabout route.

It seemed she had a clear sense of whether there was anyone nearby.

Following her, Dekan arrived at Mia’s dormitory door without encountering a single person.

After Mia opened the door, Dekan finally got a glimpse of the inside of a girls’ dorm.

The structure was similar to his own dorm, and it was exceptionally tidy.

It appeared that Mia’s living habits were similar to his.

“Please come in.”

After gesturing Dekan to enter, Mia followed shortly and closed the door behind her.

Mia then started rummaging through the shoe cabinet at the entrance.

“Hmm, my slippers might be a bit small. I’ll prepare a pair for you next time.”

After searching for a while, Mia eventually pulled out the widest pair of cloth slippers and placed them on the floor.

Dekan should be able to manage using them.

“Next time?”

Dekan looked a little puzzled.

Am I going to become a regular visitor?

“Of course, I’ll also prepare a toothbrush, towel, and everything else for you.”

“Wait, this is getting increasingly strange. My question is—am I going to visit often?”

“Is there a better laboratory than this?”

Mia led Dekan into the living room and opened the door to the storage room.

A fully functional mini-potion laboratory was revealed inside, comparable to the school’s laboratory, even equipped with basic card-making facilities.

Compared to the potion classroom, Mia’s laboratory might better suit their needs as toxicologists.

It was open 24 hours a day, and nobody would disturb them.

It was clearly their best research location.

“If you don’t mind, neither do I.”

Dekan’s gaze seemed to be locked onto the laboratory, taking several seconds before looking back at Mia.

With such a great laboratory, how could he not like it?

Their interactions had been pleasant so far.

She was a little quirky, but otherwise quite good.

Mia was still smiling at him.

It seemed she had already anticipated Dekan’s thoughts.

“Tea or coffee?”

Mia walked towards the dining counter and asked.

“Coffee.”

“Alright.”

A few minutes later, the living room was filled with the gentle aroma of brewed coffee.

Mia skillfully prepared the coffee for Dekan and placed it on the coffee table in front of him.

She seemed to have extensive experience hosting guests.

Alice must visit Mia’s place frequently.

“I’ll take a shower first.”

After putting down the tray, Mia untied the ribbon in her hair and smiled at Dekan as she said.

“Alright.”

Dekan didn’t know what to comment, but he felt a little odd.

Still, there was nothing wrong with it…

Some people prefer to go home and take a shower as soon as they finish their day’s work.

Mia simply smiled, stopped addressing Dekan, and walked into the bathroom.

“…”

Dekan stared at the coffee, deep in thought.

Then he lifted his cup and leisurely sipped on his coffee.

About ten minutes later, the bathroom door opened.

After a thorough wash, Mia seemed to be in an exceptionally pleasant mood.

She changed into her pajamas, as fresh and vibrant as a lotus emerging from the water.

“Ah, that was really comfortable. Dekan, do you want to shower before the experiment?”

“No, it’s not convenient.”

They were doing serious experiments.

Dekan was already eager to continue their research from the classroom.

“Wait for me a moment, and then we’ll go into the lab.”

Mia sat on the sofa combing her hair, looking very relaxed and laid-back.

Her pajamas were much looser than her school uniform, and the scent from her body, mixed with the humidity, momentarily surrounded Dekan.

“The coffee is excellent. Next time, I’ll heartily enjoy the tea.”

Dekan leaned against the sofa and said.

“Ho ho, you’ve completely let your guard down, even though you were so guarded at first.”

Mia looked at Dekan’s now empty coffee cup and smiled.

“Indeed, you’re dangerous and mysterious. But since I’ve chosen to be friends with you, I will trust you as a friend.”

Dekan’s gaze returned to Mia with a hint of laughter in his eyes compared to the beginning.

This made Mia pause for a moment.

Then she smiled helplessly.

“You’re quite generous, and I haven’t made a mistake in judging you. Let’s go, and we’ll have an all-night study session!”

She quickly closed the distance and playfully patted his shoulder.

“Don’t make academia sound so strange.”

After a brief chat, the two finally entered the laboratory together and closed the door.

The two were simultaneously working on the development of an antidote for the new toxin they had discussed in class while exchanging insights into antidotes and counter-purification methods.

“By the way, have you thought about how to improve your spell card, ‘Poisonous Ground Spike’?”

Mia suddenly remembered the card Dekan once used at the Demon Academy.

Also, the card was the one that intrigued her the most.

Dekan shook his head: “Although I’ve added a spell that blocks second-tier purification magic, it still cannot prevent higher-level purification. This is the fatal flaw of toxic magic—it’s too vulnerable to purification adepts.”

He had an immense hatred for those who specialized in purification.

“Dekan, have you ever thought about creating a poison that cannot be purified by any tier of purification magic?”

“Of course, isn’t that the dream of our kind? But no matter how skilled I am, it goes against reason to even imagine producing such a thing.”

After hearing Dekan’s response, Mia nodded.

Then she said, “I actually have an idea. If we succeed, we might be capable of creating a poison that cannot be removed by any tier of purification magic.”

The moment Mia finished speaking, Dekan’s attention was entirely focused on her, even momentarily putting down the flask in his hand.
