Chapter 545: Loki: Can people even be compared? (Please subscribe!)
It was nighttime.
Above the city of Orario, under a black sky dotted with countless stars, a gentle breeze caressed the faces of passersby and lifted the edges of their clothing. The bustling atmosphere of daytime had dissipated, replaced by quiet as residents hurried home.
On a rather tranquil main street, Izay and Riviria strolled slowly together. Izay carried several fully loaded parcels in his hands, glancing at the night sky with an expression of helplessness.
“Looks like it’s dragged on until evening again. Your fellow kin sure have a more serious thirst for knowledge than I imagined, Teacher.”
No.
Rather than thirst for knowledge…the situation was closer to idle curiosity.
The usually rumor-free Fairy Princess today broke precedent by going out alone with a male, and the two seemed to get along quite well.
Nothing could stir the hearts of the fairies more than this—whether positively or negatively.
“Don’t say that. I don’t know why things turned out this way… we didn’t do anything…”
A breeze carrying the scent of flowers passed by, lifting Riviria’s smooth hair, revealing her slightly weary face.
Madam couldn’t figure it out.
Even ignoring the main reason for the outing and focusing only on external factors…
She had merely gone shopping alone with Izay. Was this really so strange in the eyes of her fellow kin?
Or had she truly shown exceptional intimacy towards Izay before?
Riviria pondered internally…
Not really?
Her usual interactions with Izay were just like that.
In the Familial Group, Izay was one of the few who didn’t show any concern or hesitation regarding her identity and senior status.
This was rare, but not strange.
So why were they making such a fuss?
Unable to understand the reasons after much deliberation, Riviria finally sighed deeply, exhaling all her emotions.
Upon hearing the sigh, Izay quickly changed the subject.
“Well, at least the purpose of this outing with you was achieved. Though I feel like we might have bought too much…”
Setting out empty-handed, they returned laden with packages.
Not only the ones in Izay’s hands, but Riviria also held many characteristic products of Orario, like “Spiritual Medicine Fruits.”
“Hmm? Is this too much?”
Hearing this, Riviria tilted her head and observed the items in both their hands.
It doesn’t seem excessive…
If packed into the luxury boxes her father used to send gifts, probably four or five would suffice.
After such a long time without contact, this amount was acceptable, wasn’t it?
“…”
Izay remained silent for a moment.
“As long as Teacher is satisfied~”
“Rather than this, I’m actually more worried if these fruits will spoil when transported back to my hometown. Alf Forest is at the farthest west of the continent, after all.”
“No need to worry about that, Teacher. The goblins’ business has a partnership with Ganesha’s faction; if you want to expedite delivery, you can specify the Flying Dragons for transport.”
“Is that so? Then I can rest easy~”
Riviria smiled softly, her face blooming like a flower.
She anticipated the scene of her parents receiving the gifts.
Having let go of past grievances, her desire to reconcile with her parents had never been stronger.
And moved by her teacher’s feelings, Izay sincerely hoped everything would proceed smoothly.
After all, they were Riviria’s family…
At the entrance of Twilight Manor.
While chatting idly and returning to headquarters, Izay and Riviria asked a guard member to open the door for them. After thanking the person, they entered the courtyard of the mansion with the fruits of their outing.
Incidentally, they had missed dinner tonight and ate outside.
By the time they returned to Twilight Manor, most of the main members of Loki Familia had dispersed.
Some went back to their rooms to sleep, some were contemplating staying up all night, and others were preparing for tomorrow’s Dungeon exploration.
The post-nightfall Twilight Manor exuded a serene atmosphere.
But there were exceptions.
Some people, led by Loki herself, lay in wait at the entrance of their mansion, ready to ambush those who had ventured out.
Izay, who was still chatting happily with Riviria, hadn’t sensed the impending crisis yet.
Until he placed his hand on the handle of the mansion door, did he realize something was off.
“Hm? There’s a murderous aura!?”
With a click, the door opened, and Izay instinctively took a step back.
“Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah…”
Through the gap in the door, they could see Loki waiting there, with two knives tied to her head and two more held in reverse grip in her hands. The crimson-haired goddess emitted an eerie, bone-chilling aura.
Beside her, Ais, Haruhi, Refia, and Tiona were gathered playing card games to pass the time.
Tione, the older sister of the little angel, wasn’t present, but Anqi and Alisia stood beside Loki, seemingly worried about her current state.
At this moment, Loki noticed the sound of the door opening and caught sight of Izay and Riviria standing at the entrance.
However, Riviria was immediately ignored, leaving only Izay in her line of sight.
Instantly, her crimson divine eyes flared with menace.
“Izay, how dare you return!? You’ve taken Riviria out on a date alone, something not even I have done! Surely, you must have made your peace already?”
Loki charged forward with explosive speed, brandishing her knives above her head, muttering phrases like “deserves death.”
Izay hastily took another step back, retorting sharply upon hearing Loki’s words: “You’re full of crap—!”
“During the two years since I joined the Familial Group, Loki, haven’t you taken Riviria out numerous times?”
“That was asking Riviria to accompany me to buy alcohol, or at worst, acting as bodyguards! How can that compare to your mushy dates!?”
An enraged Loki snapped.
Can people even be compared?
From the day Riviria joined the group, she had been overly cautious about Loki making advances.
Years of interaction ensured no inappropriate feelings developed, guaranteeing mostly familial bonds.
Loki wished for these familial ties to change, but there was no chance!
On the other hand, Izay, the walking hormone magnet, had successfully charmed Artemis, lured Haruhi, won over Ais, even gained favor from the fairy waitress at the tavern, and even Anqi at home liked him.
Assessing him with maximum malice, Loki knew she wasn’t wrong!
Thinking this, Loki charged faster.
“Loki, stop!”
But just as she was about to reach Izay, Riviria stepped lightly in front of her student, blocking the way.
If Loki wanted to harm Izay, she’d have to get through Riviria first.
Seeing this, Loki quickly braked, but having rushed too fast, she stumbled forward and came to a halt on her face before Riviria.
Madam followed her movement and lowered her gaze, explaining, “Izay and I just went out to buy things. Where did you hear these rumors?”
“One of the house elves told me…”
Lying flat on the ground in a starfish position, Loki mumbled.
“I see…”
Riviria raised her hand to her forehead.
“Just buying necessary items, Loki, is your reaction really necessary?”
Izay peeked out from behind his teacher, looking utterly speechless.
He was utterly wronged this time.
Doing good deeds ended up with him being misunderstood by Loki upon returning.
Last time with Ais, there was evidence, so there was nothing to refute.
But this time, he hadn’t even made a move on Riviria. Why was Loki so agitated?
Where did the wisdom of the great evil goddess go?
