055 Dekan Finds a Cat
Cornelia’s eyelashes lightly trembled, as if she sensed something.
She turned her head, a flicker of surprise in her eyes.
Even before Dekan approached, Cornelia had noticed him.
Dekan smiled and called out to her, “Hey!”
Cornelia responded, “Alright!”
Dekan quickened his pace, jogging up to her and asked, “Cat?”
“Um…”
Cornelia’s mood was clearly low as she nodded.
Dekan grinned broadly, “Help.”
“Eh?”
Without pausing to look at Cornelia’s slightly bewildered expression, Dekan walked toward the group of Spirit Cats.
It seemed that these cats did not have the slightest bit of caution towards Dekan.
He picked up the bowl of cat food and started walking away from Cornelia.
Gradually, some Spirit Cats began to follow him, all wanting some dried fish.
The small cats showed no fear of him; he exuded warmth and friendliness.
Then he placed the bowl on the ground, picked up a Spirit Cat, and fed it a piece of dried fish.
“Meow~”
After it had eaten its fill and seemed satisfied, Dekan began to tease its chin.
He skillfully stimulated the cat’s acupoints, even emitting rhythmic sounds while petting it, almost like a lullaby that lulled the cat to sleep.
The cat gradually started to doze off.
Actually,
He had secretly used a “Hypnotic Gas” for just a brief moment, though he himself held his breath.
Soon, the cat was sound asleep.
Next, Dekan carried the cat back to Cornelia’s side.
Cornelia looked at the small cat in Dekan’s arms with great excitement and swallowed hard.
Cornelia: “Pet?” (Can I pet it?)
Dekan: “Mmhmm.”
Cornelia hesitantly reached out, with an excited feeling akin to realizing a long-held wish.
However, just at that moment, the small cat suddenly startled awake, its fur standing on end.
It frantically struggled and broke free from Dekan’s grasp.
Terrified, it quickly ran away, disappearing without a trace.
“……Looks like I’ll have to knock it out completely.”
Dekan said, resting his chin on his hand.
“No!”
Cornelia quickly shook her hands.
Even though she was grateful to Dekan,
This kind of deception wasn’t what she wanted.
She wanted to truly and harmoniously interact with these adorable creatures.
“Let me think about it.”
Dekan sat next to Cornelia, leaning against the tree, pondering.
Since he had decided to help her, he had to see it through.
Dekan: “What do you have planned for this afternoon?”
Cornelia: “Free.”
She was ready to take a leisurely nap beneath the tree.
Dekan: “Wait for me.”
Cornelia: “Okay.”
After speaking, Dekan stood up and walked away quickly.
He bought a lot of herbs at the shop, then returned to his dormitory, starting to concoct a potion.
When he initially developed the “Poisonous Ground Spike,” its main purpose was for hunting,
To obtain the crystals from magical beasts.
In order to better capture wild animals, he had once concocted scents that attracted them.
If these scents could entice cats more strongly, they might counteract the fear the cats had for Cornelia,
Allowing Cornelia to smoothly interact with the cats.
Although he hadn’t brought the beast luring scent from the border to the Capital City, making it wasn’t difficult.
And Mia had returned quite a few ingredients he could use.
Soon, he successfully concocted the “Cat Attractant.”
After it was prepared, Dekan brought a small vial and ran back to the back of the mountain.
Sitting beside Cornelia, he opened the vial.
As soon as the fragrance was released, the group of Spirit Cats went berserk and surrounded Dekan.
Still, they remained fearful of Cornelia and did not dare to get too close.
As if an invisible line had been drawn on the ground, they didn’t dare to cross it.
Dekan sprinkled a bit of the potion around Cornelia.
Although the Spirit Cats were still fearful of her, there were gradually some brave ones who dared to approach and sniff not too far away.
Whenever Cornelia made the slightest move, they would be frightened and retreat.
In the end, Cornelia remained motionless, nearly like a statue.
Finally, a cat was willing to come a little closer.
Even though Cornelia still couldn’t pet the cat,
At least she could observe them up close.
Eventually, Cornelia spent a relatively pleasant afternoon.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. I’ll make some more of this potion for you later.”
Dekan handed the small vial to Cornelia.
She gratefully accepted Dekan’s half a vial of the potion.
After the two had dinner together, as usual, they returned to the dorm building and parted ways on the third floor.
But,
Dekan didn’t realize,
When he left the mountain, a pitch-black Spirit Cat had sneaked into his shadow…
…
After Dekan returned to his dormitory, he decided to tidy up the living room first.
Even though his dormitory was already very clean,
He didn’t want to be outdone by Mia in terms of tidiness.
Dekan occasionally had some strange competitiveness.
However, while he was cleaning,
“Clunk clunk.”
Upon hearing the sound of jars being knocked over, Dekan quickly ran into the Card Making Workshop.
He had never expected there would be a thief in his dorm.
“Meow—”
When he opened the door, he saw a black Spirit Cat toppled on the ground in pain.
It appeared that it wanted Dekan’s Cat Attractant potion, or even its formula.
So greedily, it had tasted several vials Dekan left on the table.
It seemed to be a habitual thief.
“My goodness, what’s wrong with you?”
Dekan quickly picked up the cat.
“Ugh, I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die meow. They shouldn’t be toxic, why am I poisoned meow?”
The cat let out a pitiful cry.
“Can you talk?”
“Of course! I’m a teacher meow!”
“Would a teacher sneak into their student’s dormitory?”
“…Meow meow meow.”
Seemingly hit a sore spot, it began to act dumb.
“This is such a headache.”
Dekan covered his forehead.
“Hurry and help me detox meow, it’s terrible meow!”
“…This poison can’t be cured.”
“Meow meow meow? Can’t purification magic cure it?”
“Impossible.”
“How can it be? What kind of horrifying thing have you made meow?!”
It suddenly remembered a word that had been circulating around the school recently — sinister.
This guy before it was probably the one who brought this word into existence.
“Then what about the antidote meow?!”
“Maybe my research partner. But it’s only for humans, it may not work on cats, you’ll have to wait as we refine it.”
“Help me meow!”
Although this toxin wouldn’t fatally harm it in a short while, it was unbearably painful.
“Cat, do you know where to find someone who has the [Compulsory Dispel] Spell Card? This card can save you.”
The [Compulsory Dispel] is a sixth-stage Spell Card.
Sixth stage spells are generally possessed by teachers.
Just coincidentally, it was the weekend.
Apart from the teachers on duty, most were not at school.
And in the newly promoted third-year students, Dekan wasn’t sure if anyone had reached the sixth stage yet.
“Find Chloix! He has this card!”
The Cat Teacher shouted as if he had found a lifeline.
