Chapter 55: Ahead Lies Hell, Young Girl
“What are those memories really about? Why does Aier have memories like that?”
Lying in bed with his eyes closed, Yake couldn’t stop thinking about the memory he had just seen with Aierjisi, so much so that he couldn’t sleep at all. He turned to look at Aierjisi, who was sleeping on another bed, wondering when she would finally wake up.
Well, there’s no point in just lying here thinking aimlessly. I’ll wait for the Little Princess to wake up and then ask her. For now, I should just sleep. With that thought, Yake turned over and drifted off.
“Grumble…”
Aierjisi, tormented by hunger, was forced to awaken from her slumber. The continuous battles with Harker and Gilbaris had drained a lot of her stamina and magic power. Now, she had to get out of bed to find something to eat.
“Princess? You’ve woken up! That’s great! I was just thinking, what would we do if you kept sleeping like this?”
Hearing movement in the room startled Aisi, who had been dozing on the table. He had prepared to fight off invading enemies, only to realize the noise was just Aierjisi getting up.
“Really sorry to worry you, Aisi. By the way… how did I end up here? Weren’t we fighting Gilbaris?”
Aierjisi glanced around the room, confirming it was an inn, not some prison.
“Don’t you remember? You defeated Gilbaris, which allowed us to safely stay here.”
“Eh? Me? I have no memory of that at all. I just remember thinking that you, Aisi, were about to be killed by that guy, and then I lost consciousness.”
After reflecting on the situation, Aierjisi couldn’t recall how she had repelled Gilbaris.
“You don’t remember? That’s a problem. But back then, you were really strong, and you forced him to retreat with just one move.”
Aisi still vividly remembered the imposing presence Aierjisi had back then.
“I see. It’s really a bummer that I have no memory of that. But anyway, as long as we’re safe, that’s what matters. Oh right, Aisi! How did you survive the Blood Clan massacre? Are there any other Blood Clan members out there?”
Aierjisi’s main concern was if there were any other surviving members of her clan. Since both she and Aisi had managed to survive, perhaps others were still alive in different parts of the world. As the princess, she felt it was her duty to bring them back to rebuild the Blood Clan.
“I’m not sure about the whereabouts of other Blood Clan members. Before the Adrian People attacked, I was sealed away in some ruins by Misty, which is why I survived.”
“Eh? So Aisi was also sealed in ruins, just like me? I was trapped in a ruin too, until I just awakened not long ago.”
Upon hearing that Aisi had also been sealed in ruins, Aierjisi thought about their experiences. It was likely that other Blood Clan members were sealed in ruins around the world and would soon wake up as well.
However, recalling her journey across worlds, Aierjisi wanted to ask Aisi if he was also from that blue planet like her. But since Aisi wasn’t a playable character in the game, he probably wasn’t a fellow traveler like her.
“More importantly, Princess, there’s something very important I need to tell you.”
“Grumble…”
Just as Aisi finished speaking, his stomach interrupted unceremoniously.
“Are you hungry too, Aisi? I am. How about we go grab something to eat together and talk while we eat?”
Noticing Aisi’s awkwardness, Aierjisi giggled as she invited him to go out for a late-night snack.
“Sorry to have embarrassed you, Princess.”
“No worries! Being hungry is a common thing. Come on, oh, we should also wake up Yake—he’s an important asset of mine!”
Aierjisi jumped onto Yake and shook him awake.
“Ah? What’s going on, Aier? What happened? Did the Adrian People attack again?”
Yake, just waking up, had no idea what was happening. But since the Little Princess was shaking him awake, it must have been something serious.
“Nope. You probably haven’t had dinner yet, right? Aisi and I are planning to grab a bite; you should join us. We just finished two tough battles, and you need to replenish your strength.”
“Alright, just give me a moment; I’ll be right up.”
Yake felt a little amused that he was being awakened just to go out for dinner. But upon reflection, replenishing their energy was just as crucial as battling enemies. After tidying himself up, Yake followed the Little Princess out of the inn.
Since it was already quite late, he had to give up on the idea of asking Reina and Xier to join them for a meal.
“Wow, it’s lucky that there’s still a noodle shop open at this hour.”
As Aierjisi and the others searched for places to eat, all they found were hardcore barbecue joints. They were too hungry to wait for meat to cook. Spotting the noodle shop still in business, Aierjisi decided they would eat there—noodles would cook up quickly.
“Good evening…”
Upon entering the shop, they saw six people slumped over the tables, faces buried in bowls, or rather, six corpses? Aierjisi felt an unprecedented sense of danger.
“Welcome! What kind of noodles can I get for you today? We serve our special mapo noodles, special mapo noodles, and special mapo noodles.”
The shop owner, wiping bowls in the kitchen, greeted Aierjisi and the others with enthusiasm.
“Wait, aren’t they all the same?”
Aierjisi instinctively critiqued the menu the owner presented.
“They’re not the same, young lady.”
“What’s different? Aren’t they all special mapo noodles?”
“If you want to know, you’ll have to order one of each. How about it? Want to take on the challenge?”
The owner looked at Aierjisi with a dismissive gaze. Although she knew he might be trying to provoke her, it only ignited her competitive spirit. After all, she was a Blood Clan princess—who was afraid of a mere bowl of noodles?
“Fine! I’ll take one of each, and make sure my order is the spiciest!”
“Got it! Please wait a moment.”
The owner turned around to start cooking noodles for the trio.
“Hey, hey, Aier, don’t challenge this owner; I’ve heard my mom mention that there’s a noodle shop here where the owner’s noodles aren’t for the faint-hearted.”
While the owner was busy cooking, Yake quietly warned Aierjisi that this shop’s noodles weren’t something to be trifled with.
“Don’t worry. I’m a Blood Clan princess on a mission to revive my clan. If a simple bowl of noodles can take me down, I’d might as well give up right now.”
Confident in her resilience, Aierjisi insisted on ordering the noodles. Yake could only sigh and shake his head, preparing himself for the inevitable tragedy that awaited their stomachs.
