Chapter 550: Full Firepower!
“Let’s have a one-on-one!” Those words sent the crowd into fits of laughter.
With so many people around, they would wear him down completely, and he had the audacity to say that—talk about a dreamer!
“Haha, do you really think you can negotiate from a place of disadvantage?”
Zhou Cheng laughed heartily, clearly disdainful. Once someone has power, they look down on the opponent entirely; negotiations were utterly out of the question.
“Then I guess I’ll just have to challenge you directly.”
Lin Nuo said coldly, his face turning serious. This was no joke now. He immediately kicked off the ground, increasing his speed dramatically. Whoosh! Like lightning, he charged at the arrogant, plump Zhou Cheng.
Zhou Cheng’s guards in front of him couldn’t keep up with Lin Nuo’s pace, getting bypassed as Lin Nuo surged straight towards Zhou Cheng.
Before Zhou Cheng could even see the figure clearly, he felt a strong gust of wind rushing his way, sending a shiver down his spine.
On any other day, a single blow from Lin Nuo would send Zhou Cheng straight to the afterlife.
But now, someone stood in his way. A man with the character “影” embroidered on his clothes swiftly drew his weapon to block.
Bang!
A violent clash of weapons erupted, unleashing a wave of intense energy that made many people step back, clearing some space.
Now, the two were as cold as ice, like emotionless assassins, regarding each other as prey in a hunt.
The agreement not to fight one-on-one had been swept aside as Lin Nuo forcefully expanded the battlefield. Both sides exchanged attacks rapidly, as quick as lightning, leaving the onlookers dizzy.
The chubby Zhou Cheng rubbed his eyes, thinking maybe something was wrong. All he saw were afterimages, making it hard to discern their moves.
With such speed, he’d be dead before knowing it!
Thankfully, Master Sun Xu had brought strong fighters to oppose them. The Dong Wei organization was indeed impressive, with hidden talents and unexpected experts, so opposing this outsider shouldn’t be a problem.
Amidst the chaos where blades had no eyes, he hurried back with the guards to avoid being caught in friendly fire.
Lin Nuo was now locked in a fast-paced exchange with the cold man, both possessing wind elemental affinity, with a deep understanding of wind techniques. Their speed and reflexes were extraordinary; they anticipated each other’s moves, exchanging several attacks without a winner in sight.
The cold man remained calm, but Lin Nuo’s composure was beyond his expectations. After all, the young brat had just been so arrogant; surely he would be impatient and reveal his flaws. With the right moment, the cold man thought he could deliver a fatal blow.
However, he found Lin Nuo’s flaws to be all fake; they were deliberate bait to lure him into striking, almost leading to his own counterattack.
Yet, the cold man held back; he couldn’t let Lin Nuo take advantage, so both seemed to be exerting themselves while still retaining hidden power, playing mind games against each other.
After yet another series of exchanges, the sound of clashing weapons echoed, creating strong winds that shook the surrounding trees and made leaves scatter.
In an instant, the cold man split into shadows, circling around Lin Nuo.
“Ha.”
Lin Nuo sneered dismissively, promptly conjuring his own shadows, filling the courtyard with their figures, leaving the crowd utterly bewildered, unable to distinguish the real from the fake.
“Why are there suddenly so many of them? Is something wrong with my eyesight?”
“Who’s hitting who here?”
“I told you not to overdo it; now you can’t see clearly!”
“Can you see clearly?”
“I can see clearly; there’s only two of them exchanging blows. Where did all these extras come from?”
“You’re full of nonsense, just blowing hot air; everyone sees the shadows and the extra figures, but you see only two, huh?”
The crowd debated animatedly, even getting into a little quarrel over such a trivial matter, with the topic swaying in strange directions.
No matter how many shadows there were, there was only one true body, but due to the intensity of their clashes, the audience couldn’t pinpoint where the sounds of the weapons came from.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Even with the shadows not obscuring the other’s vision, it ultimately boiled down to a direct clash of their weapons.
After several more exchanges, no victor emerged yet.
It now came down to who could remain calmer.
The cold man dropped his blade, then suddenly flung hidden daggers from his sleeves.
“Is this all you’ve got?”
Lin Nuo blocked with one dagger and swiftly swatted away the hidden weapon with a deft palm strike. At the same moment, he sent out a paralysis needle from his sleeve; it was a triple combo, balancing offense and defense in an instant.
But this was typical assassin fare, and the cold man responded just as fluidly, deflecting it.
However, he was caught off guard when, after numerous encounters, his stamina dwindled, and his attention wavered. Lin Nuo unleashed a powerful surge, launching needles from his sleeves, pants legs, and collar all at once. It was too much for the cold man to handle at once.
This was a brawl; his entire body was filled with hidden weapons, leaving no room for him to evade.
Uh-oh, I’ve been hit!
Realizing something was wrong, he tried to retreat, but it was too late. Lin Nuo relentlessly pursued, launching consecutive attacks. His limbs were starting to weaken, and he could no longer defend himself.
A thrust.
The sharp blade finally pierced through the cold man’s body, pain flooding him as blood gushed out.
He gritted his teeth, wanting to retaliate, but Lin Nuo easily countered, followed by another wave of attacks.
Thrust! Thrust!
In the past, he could not poke through A Su, but poking down this little assassin was no problem! To finish the job, he thrust multiple times until the cold man could no longer move.
Ultimately, he collapsed to the ground, lifeless, his own blood pooling beneath him.
The crowd stared, dumbfounded. Their fighter was slain, sprawled in the blood!
Zhou Cheng panicked. He came to watch the show, expecting to see that little brat killed—but now his own people had been slaughtered!
This is bad! I’ve got to bolt!
But there was no escaping now. Lin Nuo had just finished poking someone and had already locked onto Zhou Cheng as his next target.
With a whoosh, he rushed forward.
Zhou Cheng’s guards hurriedly tried to intercept, but Lin Nuo’s fist was faster. With a dodge and a punch, bam! Two muscular guards were sent flying.
As Zhou Cheng turned to flee, Lin Nuo caught up with him.
Lin Nuo pressed his dagger against Zhou Cheng’s neck and said, “C’mon, weren’t you so cocky just now? Let’s hear it—keep talking!”
“P-Please, Knight, spare me…”
“Still having the gall to insult me?”
Lin Nuo slapped him hard across the face. This chubby guy was a real opportunist; as soon as he gained the upper hand, he became arrogant, but now that he was in trouble, he was shrinking back.
There are plenty of small fry like this in the world, of course—though some stubborn ones refuse to beg for mercy once caught, like that Stolen Saint who claimed I wouldn’t dare to kill him since I was a cultivator.
In my past life, I might have had some hesitations, but not this time around.
In this life, I’ve embraced my role as a villain—killing you is as easy as slaughtering a chicken; one sweep, and it’s curtains for you.
With Zhou Cheng in a death grip, the crowd dared not make a move, clutching their weapons and watching.
“You all better not act rashly, or he’ll be heading to the underworld for a drink.”
Lin Nuo’s blade wavered over Zhou Cheng’s neck, putting him right in the tiger’s mouth, scared that the next moment he’d be devoured.
“You guys, don’t act rashly, please don’t make a move.”
Zhou Cheng quickly shouted. Truth was, they dared not act; who wants to be killed? If it weren’t for Zhou Cheng’s command, they would’ve all gone home for dinner already.
