Chapter 561: Mutated Fierce Beasts
Lin Nuo suggested raising the difficulty, after all, he had confidence in Ruo’er’s strength.
How could he not be confident? He had already pinned her spirit wolf to the ground; they were just one step away from initiating a spark of attraction.
“Alright, not bad.”
Po’er nodded. This was just a preliminary test, so the difficulty was definitely lower.
Time to adjust and up the challenge.
Next, Po’er was going to summon stronger spirit beasts, like spirit snakes, spiritual eagles, and even higher-grade spirit wolves. The levels were on the rise, and Ruo’er’s commanding White Immortal Tiger could handle it easily.
However, once they reached a high-level tier beyond intermediate, things became quite tough, and eventually, the White Immortal Tiger was hit back in retaliation.
So right now, Ruo’er’s combat level with spirit beasts was approximately between intermediate and heavenly tier.
The beast classification here included chick level, earth level, intermediate level, heavenly level, and divine level; she ranked slightly above average.
For a young lady who had just entered the immortal sect not long ago, that was quite an impressive level with plenty of room for growth. With further training, she could stand out among the immortals.
Of course, in the process, she might risk falling into demonic tendencies.
“This child is indeed exceptional. Generally, people cultivate in the major sects before stepping onto the immortal path. Yet she can directly enter the immortal path and summon and command spirit beasts nearly at the heavenly tier within less than six months. Truly gifted.”
Po’er gave high praise for Ruo’er’s performance and then recalled his own spirit beast.
“You’ve demonstrated the spirit beast technique perfectly. Next, please showcase your auxiliary methods.”
The auxiliary methods were literally supportive techniques, mainly buffs and enhancements, the perfect future support class.
Ruo’er followed Po’er’s guidance and displayed her auxiliary techniques, which, while slightly inferior to the spirit beast techniques, still managed to satisfy Po’er.
“Fine, she has her unique aspects, worthy of our learning. From now on, she can train with us for a while.”
Po’er agreed; he welcomed talented juniors since fresh forces often provided new insights, and who knew, they might develop new spirit techniques.
“Alright, Ruo’er, you’ll train with the Master now, aiming to enhance your ability to command upper-tier heavenly spirit beasts.”
Lin Nuo patted Ruo’er on the head and said.
“Young Master, are you leaving…?” Ruo’er tugged at Lin Nuo’s sleeve, clearly reluctant.
“Even a guardian can’t watch over you every moment. Besides, I’m just your young master. Just like in Zifeng Valley, I can’t always stay with you there.”
“Then, can you stay a little longer? I just got here, and I’m not familiar with this place yet.”
Ruo’er was quite reluctant to part with Lin Nuo; after all, it was rare to meet him coming down the mountain, so naturally, she wanted to spend more time with him. Ideally, she wished they could always be together.
“I will, just like in Zifeng Valley. At first, I won’t leave, but it won’t be for long. Afterwards, you can communicate with Liu Shuqin; she’ll take care of you.”
Lin Nuo mentioned, knowing Ruo’er was still somewhat naive and he couldn’t quite put her at ease.
“Yay~!”
“Not so fast with the yay.”
Lin Nuo lightly tapped her head, finding her reactions often overly dramatic.
“And also, stop acting so surprised. Even if you’re just a beginner, you should still carry yourself like an immortal.”
“Okay, okay, I get it. Young Master is hitting my head again; do it again and I’ll go brain dead.”
“If I don’t tap you, you might stay brain dead anyway. I’m just trying to wake you up.”
Lin Nuo had tapped her head before; he was strict, progressively correcting Ruo’er’s behavior.
After all, she was a former demon fox, and she couldn’t afford to be foolish all the time.
However, it was just a light tap, and he was being gentle.
Ruo’er stayed here to follow Po’er for training, while Lin Nuo remained in the restaurant, keeping an eye on Ruo’er.
His movement was limited with so many spirit beasts around; many areas were off-limits.
To be honest, his role as a guardian was quite boring, with limited places to wander and no entertainment.
Moreover, he had been out long enough that Mu Yiting and Qin Shili might be searching for him, and if he took too long, something unexpected might happen.
After a couple of days, he planned to slip away, having accomplished his own tasks, mainly because the princess had died, which was a sufficient achievement.
After an afternoon of training, Lin Nuo took Ruo’er away, planning to come back the next day.
There was no point in having her return to cook; instead, they went to a different restaurant, ordering Ruo’er’s favorite wonton noodles, extra wontons, extra noodles—double the happiness.
They opted for a small eatery; while big inns were nice, the taste was lacking; street-style food was the best.
“This wonton noodle is so delicious~ Eating with Young Master every day is such a joy~”
Ruo’er exclaimed with a bright smile, quickly finishing a big bowl of wonton noodles, including every drop of soup.
“Boss, another bowl please! Extra wontons and noodles!”
“Younger Master, I’m full now…”
“No need to pretend with me; when you’re full, you sigh heavily. But right now, there’s none of that, and your appetite is way bigger than this.”
Lin Nuo had gotten to know Ruo’er well; he could tell what she was thinking without her wagging her tail.
“Younger Master, please, really don’t want anymore…”
Ruo’er still aimed to control her food intake, worried about getting a bit chubby and being disliked by her young master.
Yet, another big bowl of wonton noodles was placed in front of her, and she gulped.
The temptation of food was still huge; she couldn’t resist and devoured another bowl, it was so tasty.
Lin Nuo sipped his tea and nibbled on some snacks while picking up a newspaper he bought from the street, looking into any fun news happening in Huan Tian City. He loved gossip news; it was a great time to find fun.
However, the headlines were all about him saving Huan Tian City and his numerous achievements.
He had refused all interviews, but Liu Shuqin, Luo Yi, and Ruo’er did not. They were all too eager to share his glorious and astonishing accomplishments, making it to the front page, digging up past events to ensure everyone in the city knew just how strong he was.
It made him want to rip up the newspaper.
“Did those writers interview you?” Lin Nuo asked Ruo’er.
“They did! I even talked about Young Master’s achievements!” Ruo’er replied proudly, her chest puffed out.
“Alright, stop eating that bowl of noodles; that’s enough for you.”
Lin Nuo quickly took away the half-eaten noodles from Ruo’er, feeling like he had raised her for nothing, as she conspired with Liu Shuqin and Luo Yi all day.
This was meant as punishment, but Ruo’er saw it as her young master caring for her.
After all, she truly was full and couldn’t eat anymore, but not wanting to disappoint her young master’s kindness, she forced herself to finish the rest.
Her young master noticed and stopped her just in time. How lovely.
Her young master was becoming more and more caring~
Just as Lin Nuo was about to toss the newspaper into the trash, he noticed a concerning piece of news.
It read: Recently, mutated fierce beasts have emerged, and many people have already been killed.
