Chapter 57

After obtaining permission from Mother to go outside of town, we headed upstairs.

“Yatta! The plan to make Mother cry by working hard has succeeded!”

The plan was to make Mother cry so we could go outside of town.

“What about you? Going with Ilmera and the others again?”

“Yeah, that’s how it’ll be. It’s too dangerous to go alone, but with Ilmera and Yuika, it’ll be fine.”

“How about Noel?”

“I think she’ll be smiling in the back.”

Well, I do feel that way.

She is quite skilled in recovery magic, after all.

“Anyway, as long as we have Yuika, Ilmera or not, we’ll be fine.”

“Probably. By the way, Big Brother, who won between you and Yuika?”

“Academics are me.”

Everything else was pretty even.

“Hmm, well, it doesn’t really matter… Ah, Big Brother, would you submit this to the president?”

Toko hands over two sheets of paper.

Of course, they’re the parental consent forms.

These need to be submitted to the student president, Sharl. If Sharl and our teacher Jerry approve, we’ll be allowed to go outside of town.

“Understood. I’ll pass them on.”

We’ll meet in curse studies tomorrow, so that’ll be fine.

“Please do~”

After Toko said that and left, I decided to read some manga.

The next day, Friday.

After finishing the morning lessons, I attended the afternoon curse studies class with Sharl.

As always, I didn’t understand a thing, but I listened through the lessons and finally managed to finish the long lecture.

“Tough….”

“Yeah… well, there’s nothing we can do about that.”

If Sharl says that, it must be tough.

“Hmm. Ah, thanks for studying for the test with me. Thanks to you, I passed and even got a decent score.”

“That’s good. Honestly, if you had failed, I would have sunk pretty low.”

She really spent so much time with me.

Sorry…

“Oh, and how about you, Sharl?”

At that, Sharl adopted a smug expression.

“I’ll just say that my average exceeds 95 points.”

Wow…

You have every right to look smug.

“Helping me while maintaining such results is impressive.”

“You know, teaching others is quite a learning experience. You can’t teach if you don’t understand it yourself, and it also serves as a great review.”

Will there ever come a day when I can say that?

…Maybe in another life?

“Hmm… well, thank you. I owe you one.”

“Not at all. This is trivial, really.”

She’s a good one.

“Ah, by the way, can I ask you to do this?”

I hand Sharl the consent form.

“Hmm? Oh, the consent form to go outside town. Are you planning to leave?”

“I’ve been curious. It was exhausting convincing mom.”

“So, this is what you called the ‘slightly calculated move’ due to your family’s situation that Toko mentioned… It’s the ‘important matter’ in the Nagase household, isn’t it?”

Now she understands the reason why I’ve been studying so hard.

“Our mom doesn’t like fights or conflicts.”

“I kind of get it… Yes, these must belong to you and Toko. Now that I think about it, it’s obvious that you two are siblings.”

Though we have different last names, our parent’s name is the same.

“At which point would you have preferred to know, now or as a surprise?”

“Neither is preferable, but this way feels more dramatic.”

That’s what I thought too.

“Let’s keep it a secret.”

“Fine, fine… I wonder how long I can keep hiding this”.

It’s somewhat tricky…

Considering Yuika figured it out right away.

“Anyway, I’ll submit this.”

“Understood. I don’t particularly oppose it, so I’ll have Mr. Jerry process it.”

“Is there even a case where you’d oppose?”

“Not really. I once advised Noel not to go alone when she submitted her form.”

Huh, so Noel also submitted one?

“He goes with either Ilmera or Yuika, so it’s fine.”

“Yeah… and about this girl.”

Sharl flips through Toko’s consent form.

Well, Toko also said she’d go with Ilmera and the others.

“Rejecting only Toko’s part could be funny.”

“If I did that, it wouldn’t be funny for me. I’d rather not get assaulted.”

“Don’t get cocky just because you beat me! I’ll come, crush you, and win the permission, you say?”

Probably.

“You’re gonna say it, so I guess that’s how it’ll turn out. Absolutely unacceptable.”

“Then, I’ll leave it to you.”

“Yes, understood. Well, let’s head back then?”

“Yeah.”

We exited the classroom and descended the staircase.

When we reached the hill where the dorms were, we stopped at the fork leading to the boys’ and girls’ dormitories.

“Well, see you tomorrow. Tomorrow… your place is fine, right?”

By turn, that’s how it goes.

“Yeah. See you~”

“Yes. Tomorrow.”

We waved goodbye to each other and headed home.

The next day, like always, I practiced martial arts at the park in the morning and then studied at home.

During this time, my mom bowed deeply to Sharl and expressed her gratitude.

She even cried again, and Sharl was completely taken aback.

After such a weekend, it was Monday again.

Since there were only morning classes on Mondays, after finishing the classes, I spent my time leisurely at home, playing with my smartphone.

At that moment, my phone screen suddenly changed.

“Ah, it’s Sharl.”

Since it was a call from Sharl, I answered right away.

“Hello?”

“Ah, Tsukasa? About the permission to go outside the town, it’s been approved.”

Huh?

“Isn’t this too fast?”

“True, but your homeroom teacher, Mr. Jerry, was the referee of your duel before, right? Since he already knows your and Toko’s abilities, he approved it quickly.”

I see.

All thanks to the duel.

That duel turned out to be unexpectedly beneficial.

“Got it. Thanks.”

“It’s my job as student president.”

Being the president for a whole year is impressive.

“Hey, president, are you free next Sunday?”

“I’m brewing potions. The caramel macchiato flavor you requested… wait, wasn’t that Toko’s request?”

Yeah.

“Yup. I’ve never even had a caramel macchiato.”

“Caramel macchiato’s flavor is complex.”

Is it really?

“If it’s troublesome, it’s fine, you know.”

“You’re good at provoking me…”

No, I wasn’t…

You just got worked up on your own…

“Anyway, it’s fine, right? Soda flavor seems better for me.”

“Soda… huh, fine. I’ll take on your challenge, you two.”

She really changes when it comes to alchemy…

“Uh, yeah… About Sunday…”

“What about Sunday? You want to study more?”

Study?

Pfft…

“Not a chance. Can you give us a tour of the town?”

“Oh, right. Sure.”

Sharl readily nodded in agreement.

“Thanks.”

“Yes, yes… Wait. You can go outside the town, but be careful, okay? Please convey this to Toko.”

“Understood.”

“Alright, see you on Friday. Bye-bye.”

With that, Sharl hung up the phone.
