Chapter 57: My Girlfriend Dislikes It
Su Dieyi looked puzzled, “Who are you?”
Brother Lin Xuan tossed the sack on the ground, “I’ve come to discuss where your studio is heading.”
Su Dieyi’s expression soured, her previous warmth vanishing.
“We don’t need investment, and our studio has already disbanded.”
She had established this studio to avoid being controlled by capital; she would never jump back into that fiery pit again.
“Miss Su, I understand your concerns,” Lin Xuan smiled gently, “I’m inviting you to join my entertainment company.”
On his way here, he had realized that nonsense about investment! He might as well directly sign them into his company!
Su Dieyi said expressionlessly, “I have no such plans. You should find someone else.”
“My entertainment company doesn’t require artists to drink with clients or be subjected to any underhanded rules.” Lin Xuan remembered from his past life that Su Dieyi had a falling out with Starlight Entertainment because she refused to be sexually harassed by their talent competition director.
To convince Su Dieyi, he had to address her concerns directly.
Su Dieyi was indeed tempted.
“Come in then,” Su Dieyi said.
Su Dieyi returned to the office, and Lin Xuan sat across the conference table.
“Are you an actor?” Su Dieyi couldn’t help but ask, staring at Lin Xuan’s handsome face.
Lin Xuan: “I plan to be the boss.”
Being an actor meant being controlled by others. He wasn’t living this second life to endure such frustration. Being an employee was nowhere near as comfortable as being the boss.
Su Dieyi shook her head. How could she have asked such a stupid question?
This man was strikingly handsome. If he were part of the entertainment industry, he wouldn’t go unnoticed. Moreover, his attire and the bodyguards around him clearly marked him as a wealthy young master. Would someone like him care for the meager income of an actor?
“Sir, do you know who is targeting our studio?” Su Dieyi frowned and asked.
“I do, it’s Starlight Entertainment,” Lin Xuan replied.
Su Dieyi sighed bitterly, “Starlight Entertainment is the leading company in the entertainment industry, controlling half of the industry. If I sign with your company, we’ll be targeted by Starlight Entertainment.”
“I know,” Lin Xuan leaned back in his chair and smiled faintly, “Since I intend to sign you and all the artists in your studio, I will thoroughly investigate everything.”
“Miss Su, let me tell you, the chairman of Starlight Entertainment, Lin Chang, is my biological father.”
Su Dieyi froze.
Didn’t Lin Chang only have one son, Lin Li? She had never heard of him having another son.
“I’ve already separated from the Lin family,” Lin Xuan said casually, “I have a grudge against the Lin family, and I want to bring down Starlight Entertainment.”
“Would Miss Su be willing to lend a hand?”
Su Dieyi clenched her fists.
It was false to say she didn’t hate Starlight Entertainment. She had worked hard to climb to the position of a top diva, but Starlight Entertainment had smeared her reputation, leaving her almost forced to retire from the music scene.
She was already thirty years old and didn’t have much time left to keep fighting.
“Sir, is the contract you mentioned genuine?” Su Dieyi looked at the young man before her, her heart igniting with a glimmer of hope.
“Of course, no drinking, no sleeping around, no accepting underhanded rules. The jobs you take, we won’t force you into anything. We only discuss work, not personal lives. Outside of work, your personal lives are up to you to arrange.”
Lin Xuan spoke calmly, “And regarding the revenue split between you and the company, it will be sixty percent for the company and forty percent for you. All these terms will be written into the contract.”
The conditions Lin Xuan offered were already very tempting.
In regular entertainment companies, new talents usually got a twenty-eighty or thirty-seventy revenue split. Most importantly, there would be no underhanded rules, and they were given maximum freedom in other aspects.
Hadn’t she left Starlight Entertainment precisely to pursue freedom without underhanded rules?
Lin Xuan added, “I should inform you beforehand, my entertainment company hasn’t been established yet, but it should happen soon.”
“Everything works for me.” Su Dieyi’s voice was slightly hoarse.
Nothing could be worse than her current situation.
“I am willing to join your company.” Su Dieyi’s eyes flashed with determination. She didn’t want to step down so quickly; she wanted to fight once more.
“Miss Su, remember that you’re joining my company as a singer, not as a boss.” This point needed clarification—Su Dieyi was suited to be a singer, not a manager.
Su Dieyi nodded heavily, “I understand.”
“However, this is just my intention. There are two singers in my studio, I need to ask if they’re willing to go.”
“Alright, go ahead and ask.” Lin Xuan started drafting the contract on his laptop.
Yu Wanqing and Zhou Wei hadn’t left; instead, they found a nearby bar to drink.
Zhou Wei verbally agreed with Su Dieyi’s decision to disband the studio, but deep down, he was extremely reluctant. However, he knew clearly that apart from disbanding, they had no other choice.
Continuing like this would only waste money. Su Dieyi didn’t have much money left. They couldn’t let her sacrifice her normal life for the studio.
Zhou Wei kept drinking heavily.
“Big Brother Wei, has our studio really disbanded?” Yu Wanqing asked painfully, unwilling to accept this reality.
Zhou Wei remained silent.
After a long while, he finally said, “Let’s meet at the peak as Sister Dieyi suggested.”
The phone rang, Zhou Wei answered it.
“Zhou Wei, a company wants to sign us. They’ve offered generous terms. Would you come back to the studio and check it out?” Su Dieyi’s voice came through the phone.
“Sure, I’ll be right back!” Zhou Wei’s excitement was uncontrollable.
“What’s going on?” Yu Wanqing asked hazily.
“Wanqing, we don’t have to separate from Sister Dieyi! Let’s go back to the studio now!”
“Big Brother Wei, you’re joking around again,” Yu Wanqing didn’t believe it. Their studio had already disbanded. Sister Dieyi had already dismissed them. Everything was over.
“Why would I lie to you?” Zhou Wei said helplessly, “Sister Dieyi said it herself. However, we’ll be joining an entertainment company together, not staying in the studio.”
Zhou Wei spoke earnestly, and Yu Wanqing suddenly stood up from her chair.
“Big Brother Wei, let’s hurry back!”
It took them only two minutes to return to the studio.
Su Dieyi explained the terms Lin Xuan had offered and also informed them about Lin Xuan’s connection to Starlight Entertainment.
“Zhou Wei, Qing’er, whether you choose to leave or stay, I support you both. Please consider carefully.”
“Butterfly Sister,” Yu Wanqing tearfully said, “When I was eliminated and rejected, it was you, Butterfly Sister, who taught me how to sing. You’re my pillar of strength. Wherever you go, I’ll follow.”
Zhou Wei also nodded, “I agree.”
They waited for another half hour, and Lin Xuan finished drafting the contract. There was a printer in the studio, so he printed out the contracts.
“Take a look at these contracts and see if there are any issues,” Lin Xuan placed three copies of the contract on each of their desks.
If there were no problems, they signed the contracts and pressed their fingerprints.
“Mr. Lin, let’s have a pleasant cooperation.” Su Dieyi extended her hand to Lin Xuan.
Lin Xuan glanced at it but didn’t shake hands, “Sorry, my girlfriend dislikes physical contact between me and other women.”
He had to eliminate any possibility that Su Hua might lock him up.
