Chapter 422 Report
“It’s… Sir Jorde, he doesn’t look well at all. The fleet is about to set sail, and he’s getting off the ship and walking towards the city. What could he be going for? Is he going somewhere?”
“And those people around Sir Jorde… Those clothes are Inquisition Officers?! Are they from the Castia Tribunal? Where are they taking Sir Jorde? This fleet is clearly about to set sail…”
Vania couldn’t help but mutter in confusion as she watched the scene on the shore. She didn’t know that there were more than just her eyes observing this scene.
…
In Navaha, not far from the port, there was a tall hotel. Inside one of the rooms on the top floor stood two figures, both men of different ages.
One of the younger men stood by the window, pulling back the curtain slightly to peek out into the distance. The direction he was looking at was exactly where the fleet was preparing to set sail.
The other man was a middle-aged man with a beard. He sat behind a table inside the room, surrounded by piles of documents. He was focused on sorting through these papers.
“Those deities’ followers are indeed leaving. They’re preparing to set sail now, but suddenly a new batch of deities’ followers appeared at the port! Their clothes look like they belong to the Tribunal!”
The young man by the window said as he observed the distant scene with superhuman vision. After hearing his words, the middle-aged man who was organizing the documents paused and turned to look at him.
“Are they really the madmen from the Tribunal? This complicates things… These guys are much harder to deal with than the Knights. It will be extremely difficult to gather any information from them…”
“But from another perspective… Costa and the others are almost certainly already on board with those deities’ followers. Otherwise, the Tribunal wouldn’t be here. They must have come here to take over the case…”
The middle-aged man frowned as he put down what he was doing. Clearly, both of them were members of the Abyss Cult, and their reason for coming to Navaha was to confirm the status of the missing Costa and Deep Blue Heart.
“From what it looks like, Costa and the others are probably in serious trouble. They might have been captured by the deities’ followers or they might be dead. It would be best if we directly prepare for a soul-calling ritual on White Tear Island.”
The man by the window spoke with a stern tone. The middle-aged man responded coldly.
“Soul-calling? That’s too far away. If Costa and the others died here, setting up a ritual on White Tear Island won’t work. We don’t even know how long ago they died. Even if it’s close, the longer it takes, the less likely it is to bring them back.”
The middle-aged man stated. In the Secret World, soul-calling was an important ability. Large extraordinary organizations would hire “Silence” extraordinary beings to specialize in soul-calling. However, these “Silence” extraordinary beings were usually not very high-ranking, typically only reaching the level of apprentices or Black Earth.
For societies that did not primarily focus on “Silence,” the ability to call souls was very limited and subject to many restrictions, such as distance. After all, the essence of a soul-calling ritual was to use a medium to summon the soul, allowing it to drift into the ritual and appear. The distance between the soul and the ritual had to be considered. Soul-calling could not simply summon spirits directly into the ritual regardless of distance, like divination.
This was why the Abyss Cult could not use soul-calling abilities to confirm the fate of Costa and the others. The main bases of the Abyss Cult were located on islands in the vast sea, and the bases with soul-calling abilities were too far from Navaha. Therefore, they had sent someone to investigate directly, but the results were not good.
“What should we do now? The madmen from the Tribunal are already here. Continuing the investigation will be very risky. Should we stop our investigation and report to the higher-ups?”
With a stern expression, the young man said. His expression clearly showed that he did not want to deal with the Tribunal. The middle-aged man snorted in response.
“Report? What can we report? We haven’t figured out the state of Costa and the others, and we haven’t found out where Deep Blue Heart is. With these results, what can we report?”
“What else can we do?! The Tribunal is already here, we can’t just…”
Before the young man could say anything else, he suddenly looked in the distance and saw something. He frowned and rubbed his temples before looking again carefully. This phenomenon piqued the curiosity of the middle-aged man.
“What’s wrong? Did you see something?”
“Yes… Strange, the ship of those deities’ followers is clearly about to set sail, but the captain and some other officers are getting off. What are they doing?”
The young man said. His words piqued the interest of the middle-aged man, who then stood up and walked to another window, pulling back the curtains to look toward the port. Soon after, he also saw what the young man had described.
“That’s Jorde Schneider. Isn’t he the commander of this escort fleet? Why is he getting off as the fleet prepares to set sail? And other captains and Jorde’s deputy seem to be being taken away by the madmen from the Tribunal…”
The middle-aged man, who was watching the scene, frowned. As a spy for the Abyss Cult, he knew many of the captains who frequently sailed in these waters, including Jorde, whose fleet often passed through this area.
“Jorde? So he’s the commander. But why is the fleet setting sail when the commander isn’t staying on board? He looks like he’s being escorted ashore by the madmen from the Tribunal.”
Listening to the middle-aged man, the young man said in confusion. The middle-aged man pondered for a moment before speaking slowly.
“Hmm… I think this might be related to the disturbances last night. Last night, something must have happened with Jorde and his crew, which attracted the attention of the Tribunal. These crazy lunatics are often harsher on their own people…”
“The disturbances last night? Tsk… I was so sound asleep last night, I didn’t know what was happening at all?”
The young man rubbed his temples as he said. The middle-aged man replied calmly.
“I’m not sure either, but something big must have happened. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be such widespread anomalies today. Navaha might be hiding secrets we don’t know about…”
“In any case, the situation seems even more complicated now. It looks like Jorde and the upper echelons of his fleet have lost the trust of the Tribunal for some reason. The Tribunal has used its power to detain them. Now, this pilgrimage fleet may have to set sail without Jorde and his crew.”
The middle-aged man muttered, his eyes flashing with a glimmer of light.
“It seems our report can now have some substantial content.”
