Chapter 583: Treasure Chest Hunter
“Wait here for a moment, I’ll be right back.”
Simon said to Bobby before quickly heading towards Harris’s room.
Harris had already entered another room at this point.
As Simon approached the door, he heard Harris whispering, “I’m only telling you this, but don’t spread it around. This is probably someone’s secret…”
Simon’s face darkened instantly, feeling quite uncomfortable.
…
On the first night of their dungeon adventure, the second-year students spent time in different locations.
Second-year students with “guides” generally had a more comfortable experience.
After all, the guides were third-year students who possessed “Dungeon Storage Boxes.” They would carry tents and sleeping bags.
The second-year students without guides… had to fend for themselves!
Of course, some students, even though they had guides, felt no different than those without one.
After all, a guide like Scott was likely less reliable than Wit himself.
The two had been stuck on the third tier for quite some time, unable to find the entrance to the fourth tier.
“Shall we go back?” Scott looked at the encroaching night creatures, his legs trembling.
“No! Even if I die tonight, I want to die searching for the entrance to the fourth tier!” Wit bit his lip fiercely.
As the son of a hero, he had his own dignity and could not back down now.
“Woof… Woof!”
The barking of the little magic dogs was even crazier than during the day!
Wit’s expression was incredibly serious.
For some reason, he always felt that he was a third-year student while Scott was a second-year student.
…
They stayed up all night.
Probably due to being inside the dungeon, Dark slept very lightly.
At five in the morning, when the glowing moss started to tremble and awaken, Dark was already sitting outside the ghost house.
He stretched a bit, then went to the hippopotamus fountain to retrieve the Piplup, letting it get some water for washing.
With only a small towel, washing wasn’t convenient, but he could use the “Trash Slime” to cover his face, making his skin look smooth and moist again.
Dark tapped his magic card, storing away the golems, then touched the “Trash Slime” with his finger and its tiny tentacles, temporarily storing it away.
He had a whole day ahead of him, needing to explore from the fifth to the ninth tier, and then see if he could find the location of the tier boss on the tenth tier!
Since the room of the tier boss always contained a treasure chest, he had some confidence in finding the tier boss.
However, until he found it, he couldn’t be sure whether the room of the tier boss might have special information-blocking abilities that could interfere with the “Greed Slime’s” perception.
Leaving behind only the imp beast, Deoxys, and lion beast, Dark took out some compressed biscuits and ate them with water.
But an upperclassman got up earlier than him and walked over with a smile, inviting him, “Junior Demon, would you like to share breakfast with me?”
Dark blinked, realizing this was a perfect opportunity to get rid of the biscuit in his hand.
Still, he took a bite and politely declined, “No thank you, Senior, I’ve already eaten.”
“Alright then,” the senior looked somewhat disappointed, then suddenly asked, “What tier do you plan to reach today?”
Thinking for a moment, Dark replied, “Tenth tier.”
The senior smiled and stood up, saying, “I see, well then, good luck to you.”
Dark smiled back, “You too.”
Once the senior turned around, Dark continued eating his biscuit.
Deoxys, looking at the senior’s back, smirked.
…
Fifteen minutes later, Dark packed everything up and prepared to set off.
The glowing moss in the dungeon started shining from five in the morning, so the third-year students had set their schedules accordingly.
Only a few second-year students were still adjusting to this time.
But under the urging of the third-year students, most second-year students eventually got up.
Dark waited another two minutes before activating the summon for “Paradise.”
The safe zone in the fifth tier became empty in an instant.
He waved to the seniors and began his new day of adventure.
Most of the students followed closely behind, hurrying to start their journey.
But some people followed Dark unintentionally.
Simon and Bobby, looking embarrassed, were dragged along by the crowd and reluctantly summoned their “scabby dog.”
They never expected that within just one night, over half of the people staying in the fifth tier would learn about Dark’s story with the treasure chests.
These people didn’t necessarily believe the story, but they wanted to witness it firsthand, leading to the current scene.
…
Unaware of the sudden increase in followers behind him, Dark continued exploring the dungeon as usual.
However, because the fifth tier was much larger than the fourth, using the “Treasure Sense” was becoming increasingly difficult to locate chests. Only by using “Greed” could he find any.
Even so, he maintained a pace of harvesting one chest every hour.
By the end of the day:
– He harvested one chest in the fifth tier.
– Two chests in the sixth tier.
– One chest in the seventh tier.
– Two chests in the eighth tier.
– Two chests in the ninth tier.
When he finally found the entrance to the tenth tier, it was after seven in the evening, having collected a total of eight chests!
Although these eight chests did not differ significantly from the treasures found in the first four tiers, the number itself was significant.
Dark truly enjoyed the process.
Those following him, including Simon, also had a great time finding empty chests.
In the safe zone of the tenth tier, not many people stayed there. In fact, most people preferred the safety zone in the eleventh tier, as each group usually had a “Gate Key (11).”
Another widely distributed gate key was the “Gate Key (1).”
Students used the “Gate Key (1)” to return directly to the first-tier safety zone after completing their adventures, saving nearly half the time.
When Dark arrived at the tenth tier, only a few scattered individuals were present.
He did not plan to stay long, intending to eat dinner, briefly review his gains, and continue onward, exploring the tenth tier overnight.
Without a “Gate Key (1),” he needed to save a full day to return.
Of course, if he could borrow a “Gate Key (1)” from the upperclassmen, things would be different.
Standing before the mana marker in the tenth tier, Dark collected the required materials as usual.
The mana marker in the tenth tier was a Medusa statue surrounded by red flowers.
These flowers were called “Snake Tongues,” poisonous but essential core ingredients for “Petrification Antidote.”
One of the official tasks for second-year students was to collect “Snake Tongue Flowers.”
However, due to the low difficulty of collecting “Snake Tongue Flowers” and the abundance in the academy’s inventory, the credit reward was minimal.
Dark casually picked a few flowers to boost his task completion rate.
Then, he sat down, ate his biscuits, drank water, and sorted through the treasures obtained from the chests.
There were eight items in total, ranked by value according to the “Eye of Truth”:
1. Soft Silver Ore;
2. Strength Ring;
[Worm Tree]
3. Sleep Flower;
4. Gale Dagger;
[Grass Cat Plant]
5. Charm Orb;
6. Rhino Horn;
7. Gravity Boots;
[Mana Dropper]
8. Dragon Fang Sword;
Firstly, “Soft Silver Ore” was notable for its extreme softness, rich in mana, and excellent conductivity, making it ideal for crafting mercury cores.
Secondly, the “Strength Ring” increased strength slightly upon wearing.
Since it fit perfectly, Dark put it on immediately, feeling much lighter when lifting heavy objects.
Thirdly, the “Sleep Flower” was a plant with calming properties, often used to make sleeping potions and was one of the materials for the “Soothing Spell.”
Regarding the “Soothing Spell,” Diana had carried one since the beginning of the school year.
However, she used the cursed version of the “Soothing Spell” to help her sleep…
Dark was shocked at first, but now… he was still surprised.
In any case, Diana could sleep soundly every day, and the “Soothing Spell” definitely played a role.
Fourth, the “Gale Dagger” was a magical weapon capable of shooting a sharp “Gale Blade.”
Dark didn’t think much about it and hung it on his left thigh.
Fifth, the “Charm Orb” was similar to the previous “Crescent Pendant,” providing a “Charm +1” effect in games.
However, the value of the “Charm Orb” seemed higher than that of the “Crescent Pendant.”
Sixth, the “Rhino Horn” could produce… Dark had no idea what it was for.
Moreover, the “Rhino Horn” was thick, long, and heavy. If not for the “Eye of Truth,” Dark would have thrown it away.
But the “Gravity Boots” were indeed useful.
Injecting mana into them allowed him to adjust the gravity, making carrying heavy loads easier.
Finally, the “Dragon Fang Sword” was the only item among his gains today that surpassed the “Mana Dropper” in value.
The handle was inscribed with “Dragon Fang.”
Whether it was truly made from dragon fangs?
He would have to ask when he returned.
…
After sorting through his gains, Dark lay down, resting his head on Deoxys’ knee for a brief nap.
But when he suddenly opened his eyes, he saw a circle of people around him, all of whom he had met last night.
