Chapter 425 Contact
Thinking to herself, Dorothy analyzed the situation and then picked up a pen to start writing advice in the “Navigation of the Literary Sea” for Vania on how she should respond at this moment.
In short, Dorothy advised Vania not to act rashly, to avoid conflict with them, and to cooperate as much as possible first, trying to gather more intelligence.
Furthermore, due to her concern that Vania might not be able to effectively collect information due to language barriers, Dorothy suggested providing her own knowledge of languages through Akka, so that Vania could at least have a basic grasp of major languages like Iwig and Castian.
Without sufficient reconnaissance, Dorothy would not take action lightly, but this time, due to her difficulty reaching the scene, the reconnaissance would be much harder, relying solely on Vania’s temporary response.
…
‘Not acting rashly, cooperating with them, gathering intelligence first?’
Vania sat in her cabin, pondering Dorothy’s reply, but at the moment, she had no suitable means for reconnaissance.
‘It seems… I can only follow Miss Dorothyia’s advice for now, not provoke conflicts, and proceed step by step…
But I didn’t expect Miss Dorothyia to offer me knowledge of languages… I’m truly grateful. Without proper understanding, I wouldn’t be able to gather information well… Also, Miss Dorothyia’s knowledge is quite extensive, knowing several languages at such a young age, and offering them so readily…’
Vania silently thought to herself, deciding to wait and see what would happen after abandoning her initial plan to act immediately.
…
Time passed slowly, though it was deep into the night, Vania remained awake, contemplating how she could proactively gather intelligence about the pirates. Just then, she heard some commotion outside her cabin, growing louder and closer, sounding like knocking and questioning. Eventually, Vania found her cabin door being knocked on loudly.
Hearing the knock, Vania swallowed hard and approached the door, opening it to reveal a disoriented sailor. He spoke to Vania:
“Uh… Excuse me, Sister, do you know how to treat wounds? I mean using medicine, diagnosing, bandaging, and such…”
The sailor explained to Vania, who paused slightly before nodding in response.
“Yes, I know how to treat wounds. I’ve done medical work.”
“That’s great. Please come with me, Sister. We need your help.”
The sailor said, and after nodding, Vania followed him out, passing through the corridor. During this time, Vania silently prayed to Akka to reconnect with Dorothy, who had been waiting without sleeping for Vania’s situation. Dorothy took advantage of this to gain access to Vania’s senses and began to understand her surroundings.
Following the lead of the sailor, Vania arrived at a larger cabin where she saw many injured church sailors. Some lay on the ground, others leaned against walls, their faces filled with panic and pain. Some were unconscious, others groaning in agony. Some wounds were already bandaged, but from Vania’s perspective, these bandages seemed unprofessional.
Besides the injured sailors, there were also some sailors and three bare-chested men in the cabin. They were drenched, muscular, and scrutinized their environment with resolute eyes. Each had a tree tattoo on their arms in the shape of an inverted triangle. One of them had a bl**d-stained bandage on his arm. The sailors and injured looked at these men with clear fear and caution.
“This sister… please help with simple wound treatments for these people. Some of them seem to be in bad condition…”
“Alright, I’ll do my best.”
The sailor leading Vania said. Listening to him, Vania knelt down to tend to the injured sailors.
Using her medical knowledge, Vania carefully treated the injured sailors using the ship’s medical kit. Meanwhile, far away, Dorothy analyzed the current situation based on what Vania observed.
‘Those three… must be the pirates. From the looks of it, our ship has been completely taken over by them. These sailors’ injuries must be from fighting them.
They could only defeat so many sailors if they were extraordinary beings, and their rank wouldn’t be low. I must handle this cautiously. If they are all water mages, it would be best not to provoke them.
However, these pirates seem to have principles. They haven’t abandoned the injured sailors but actively sought out medical personnel to treat them. This doesn’t seem like the typical behavior of an evil cult. With the Abyss Cult, these injured sailors would likely either become food or be thrown into the sea.’
Dorothy thought, somewhat puzzled. Initially, she suspected the Abyss Cult, but seeing how the pirates treated the captives, her suspicion wavered. The Abyss Cult would consider massacring a whole ship of two thousand just to find a thief. Had it not been for Haemohois’s demand for a sacrifice, the passengers of the Shining White Pearl would have faced disaster. The pirates’ actions certainly didn’t align with the Abyss Cult’s usual practices.
Dorothy silently analyzed the situation, while Vania focused entirely on treating the injured. She tended to each sailor, concentrating on saving lives, regardless of the current circumstances, she didn’t want to see any innocent person d*e in front of her.
During the treatment process, Vania discovered a severely injured sailor lying on the ground, barely alive. After checking his condition, she realized the situation was dire and needed immediate action. Thus, Vania used her extraordinary ability for the first time to restore dangerous wounds using extraordinary power.
As she finished treating the critical injury and stabilized the sailor’s condition, a voice sounded behind her, speaking in Iwig with a noticeable accent, not entirely fluent.
“You… Are you the Glimmer’s extraordinary being? I’ve heard… They have such healing abilities. Female clerics with this ability wear white clothes.”
Hearing the voice, Vania turned around and saw the leader of the three pirates talking to her, his eyes showing a hint of curiosity.
“Yes, I am a Healing Priest who follows the Path of the Holy Mother. Thank you for giving these unfortunate souls a chance to receive treatment.”
Facing the man named Bahoda, Vania responded seriously. He continued:
“Every life deserves respect, even if we once fought each other. Since they have no means of resistance, we won’t take their lives unnecessarily. Besides, the more of you survive, the more useful you are to us, servants of Glimmer.”
Bahoda said to Vania, causing her to feel a slight surprise. After judging that communication might be possible, she replied:
“Yes, life deserves respect… We should treat every living being equally and with kindness, as the Holy Mother taught me… It’s good to hear you share similar thoughts.”
Vania tried to establish common ground through conversation, hoping to gather more information. However, Bahoda coldly scoffed and spoke:
“Treat every living being kindly? Hmph… How nice it sounds. You Glimmers have never treated anyone equally or kindly! You have always been tyrannical and unreasonable. For those who don’t believe in your gods or accept your doctrines, you have always oppressed and even brutally slaughtered! You can’t tolerate any differences. You are just like pirates, forcing others to k*ll, and you have no right to talk about respecting life or kindness.”
Facing Vania, Bahoda spoke with righteous indignation, clearly showing dissatisfaction and anger. His sudden attitude startled Vania, who had planned to speak rationally with him. Far away, Dorothy, after hearing his words, thoughtfully rubbed her chin, as if something had occurred to her.
“A dissenter of Glimmer’s teachings? Interesting…”

Hmm… When I was writing this morning, I couldn’t resist falling asleep and slept for a long time. I feel like my recent schedule has become completely chaotic.
Therefore, I plan to take a day off tomorrow. Due to severe irregularities in my writing schedule, I intend to go to the hospital for a check-up. Please bear with me.
