Chapter 6: Split Up or Stick Together

Chapter 6: Split Up or Stick Together

“Ailin succeeded? I see, so it’s our turn now.”

Weirafiya and Aierjisi learned from Gaia that Ailin had asked for their assistance. For them, this was undoubtedly good news. As long as they returned to their birthplace and followed the steps in the game, they could enhance their current selves.

But now, a new problem stood before them.

Their birthplaces were all different. Weirafiya was born in the volcanic region to the west. Aierjisi was from the southern Moon God Palace. Ailin hailed from the northern Ice Dragon Palace.

Should they act together, enhancing one by one, or split up to return to their respective birthplaces? This was a tough decision.

The enemies obviously hadn’t let go of the three of them, and if they split up to return to their own places, they could very likely be picked off one by one. Acting together seemed a bit too slow.

“Weirafiya, what do you think? Should we go together or split up?”

“Um…”

This question flustered her; both options had clear pros and cons. She had no idea what to do.

“I think it’s better for you to split up.”

“Why do you say that, Gaia? Why do you think splitting up is better?”

“Last time, we destroyed their base camp. The enemies should be busy recovering right now, and won’t have time to pursue us. Plus, their three main generals were already injured in the previous battle. We should take advantage of this time to enhance ourselves quickly.”

Gaia’s reasoning made sense. In the last operation, Gilbaris, Diablo, and Titan had all sustained injuries, and their base was in ruins; they likely didn’t have the energy to chase Aierjisi and the others.

“Yeah, that does make sense. Yake, what do you think? Do you think splitting up is better?”

“Uh? I don’t really mind either way. Hey!”

As soon as Yake finished speaking, Aierjisi jabbed her foot sharply into his leg, causing him to roll on the ground, cradling his sore limb.

“Are you starting that ‘I don’t care’ nonsense again? If that’s the case, I shouldn’t even have asked you in the first place. You’re a person, right? Don’t you have your own thoughts?”

“But I really don’t know how to say this. If we go for caution, I definitely think sticking together would be better, but given the current situation, sticking together might be a bit too rushed. If it’s a race against time, I think splitting up is better.”

“That’s settled then! You clearly have an opinion on this but act clueless. Seriously, you’re such a pain!”

Aierjisi looked at Yake with disdain. Couldn’t he be a little more confident? Why couldn’t he just say what was on his mind?

“Then it’s settled; we’ll split up. But just to be safe, let’s each take a communicator. That way, if something goes wrong, we can know promptly.”

Weirafiya agreed with the idea of splitting up.

“That’s fine, but do communicators have an effective range that covers this distance? The distance between you and Ailin is manageable, but me and Ailin are quite far apart.”

The Ice Dragon Palace was in the north, while the Moon God Palace was in the south. The distance was substantial; whether they could communicate remained a valid concern.

“How about we let Ailin go with you? That way, you both will be in the south, and I’ll be in the west. Should be okay for communication!”

“No, Ailin wouldn’t want to go south with me. After all, doesn’t Ailin have a good relationship with Gaia? If she goes south with me, they won’t get to see each other!”

“It’s fine. If Ailin goes with you, I’d feel more at ease. I’d actually worry more if she stayed up north alone.”

“Are you sure? You two are pretty close, right? Won’t it be sad if you split like this?”

“Hmm. It would definitely be sad, but I also know what’s important.”

In the current situation, leaving Ailin up north was actually riskier. Once the enemies recuperated, they’d undoubtedly launch another attack. Instead of sitting here waiting for doom, it’d be better to flee and regroup with their allies.

“Let’s wait until she comes back to ask her opinion. If we decide this without her, she won’t be happy. For now, we’ll go with this.”

“Then I’ll head back first. You stay here and wait for Ailin to return and discuss it. Yaser, let’s go and prepare to pack up.”

“Don’t rush! What if Ailin wants to go to the western volcanic region with you?”

“That’s impossible! Even if she wanted to, I wouldn’t take her there. You do realize how deadly the volcanic area is for her, right?”

Ailin had a water attribute, making her quite weak against the volcanic terrain. If she followed Weirafiya back to the volcanic region, she wouldn’t stand a chance.

“That’s true; I forgot about that. Sorry! Be careful on your way, and if you encounter any difficulties, contact me right away. I’ll rush to your side.”

Aierjisi took out the teleportation crystal she had previously obtained from the City Lord, which had allowed her to teleport straight from Pield to here.

“Hmm? Is that, by any chance, a teleportation crystal?”

“Yeah! Gaia, do you have one?”

“Of course! Just hold on a moment. Since we’re using teleportation crystals, we can save a lot of time. I should have some in my treasure house; just wait a minute while I send someone to fetch them. You two sit tight for a bit.”
