Chapter 60: Heading to the Bustling City

Yin Sang gloomily looked at the strand of hair on the ground, then turned her gaze to Zhuang Chen outside the gate: “Zhuang Chen, you’re asking for death!” With a wave of her hand, her special ability surged wildly. Suddenly, countless vines burst from the ground in front of her, growing at an incredibly terrifying speed, like countless tentacles sprouting from the earth, soaring into the sky, then abruptly changing direction mid-air, rushing over the gate towards Zhuang Chen outside!

Zhuang Chen’s expression hardened, but she showed no fear. Her eyes sharpened, and a fierce wind erupted. The sound of the wind howled as countless wind blades spun rapidly around her. With a single wave of her hand, the wind blades shot out one by one, slicing through the tangled vines that were crashing down towards her with a massive force. The sound of slicing air filled the air, and in an instant, the wind blades shredded the vines into pieces, sending them scattering in all directions. The severed vines fell from the sky in chunks.

Several wind blades broke through the vines, speeding forward, heading straight for Yin Sang’s face!

Yin Sang was horrified.

Swish, swish! The wind blades struck an earthen wall that appeared out of thin air. Yin Qi frowned at Zhuang Chen: “Zhuang Chen, do you really want to kill her?”

Zhuang Chen coldly replied, “She tried to kill me first.”

As soon as the words left her mouth, Yin Sang suddenly cried out in pain, clutching her face. A thin line of blood seeped from where the wind blade had cut her, staining her palm red. She looked at Zhuang Chen in disbelief, her face pale.

Zhuang Chen didn’t even glance at her, instead addressing Yin Qi: “Since you won’t discipline your sister, I’ll do it for you. If she disrespects her elders like this again, I won’t just cut her face next time.” She then glanced at Yin Sang, who was glaring at her with venomous eyes, and said indifferently, “If you keep looking at me with those disgusting eyes, I’ll gouge them out.”

Yin Qi turned to Yin Sang and said, “Go find Dr. Gao.”

Yin Sang, still clutching her face, was in disbelief: “Brother?!”

Yin Qi’s brow furrowed: “Do you really want to die?”

Yin Sang’s pupils contracted, and her expression changed. She knew Zhuang Chen’s words weren’t empty threats. Zhuang Chen had always been bold, and without the constraints of the law, she was even more reckless now. Yin Sang had no choice but to swallow her humiliation, covering her face as she turned and walked towards the infirmary, not daring to look at Zhuang Chen again.

Zhuang Chen looked at Yin Qi and said, “So, are you going to open the gate for me, or should I call White Wolf to do it?”

Yin Qi glanced at Zhuang Chen, then coldly addressed the guards who were still stunned by the battle that had just exceeded their comprehension: “Open the gate.”

The guards snapped out of it and hurriedly opened the gate.

Zhuang Chen got into the car and said to Method, “It’s done.” Then she drove into the gathering place.

“Zhuang Chen, what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be in the Capital by now?” White Wolf was only slightly surprised by Zhuang Chen’s sudden appearance before quickly regaining his composure.

Zhuang Chen’s expression darkened at the mention: “Don’t even ask. I finally got in touch with the Capital, and they sent a plane to pick me up, but it got hijacked. I almost died. If it weren’t for that little cop, you wouldn’t be seeing me right now.”

“I was wondering why you’d bring a wounded person with you at a time like this. That’s not your style,” White Wolf said. “But who’s bold enough to hijack your plane? I’d really like to meet them.”

Zhuang Chen snorted coldly: “You know them. The Falcon.”

White Wolf was taken aback: “Tsk, they’re that bold? They dared to attack you?”

Zhuang Chen said nonchalantly, “They probably thought I wouldn’t survive. Little did they know, not only did I survive, but thanks to them, I also gained a special ability. When we meet again, I’ll make them experience what it feels like to be sliced into a thousand pieces.”

White Wolf exaggeratedly shivered and said, “I definitely wouldn’t dare to cross you. But what about Ji Jiuzhe and Yi Shaoqing? Didn’t they come to Jinyong with you?” White Wolf added maliciously, “Did they get eaten by zombies?”

Zhuang Chen rolled her eyes: “Do you think Ji Jiuzhe looks like someone who’d get eaten by zombies? We got separated when we encountered a horde. Your place seems to be doing well. You’re not planning to make this your base, are you?”

“I wish,” White Wolf’s playful expression suddenly turned serious. “You must have noticed it too. It’s not just humans; the whole world is changing. Zombies are getting stronger, and there are even zombie beasts now. This place won’t hold for long. I plan to gather enough supplies from the bustling city once my people develop their abilities, then leave Jinyong.”

Zhuang Chen asked, “Planning to return to the Capital?”

White Wolf said, “Where else? The military is strongest there. No matter what, the zombies won’t be able to breach the Capital.” He paused, then half-jokingly, half-seriously added, “Besides, I’ve been away from home for too long. It wouldn’t hurt to go back and visit.”

Zhuang Chen suddenly thought of something else and asked, “I see you’ve gathered a lot of survivors here. Have you seen someone like this?”

“A girl, in her twenties, wearing black sportswear, with short blonde hair…”

White Wolf’s expression grew stranger as he listened, and he couldn’t help but interrupt: “Wait, the person you’re looking for… her name wouldn’t happen to be Gu Ning, would it?”

Zhuang Chen was stunned: “How do you know?” Then she exclaimed in delight, “You’ve seen her?!”

White Wolf was also surprised: “Not only have I seen her, she’s right here in the gathering place.”

He couldn’t help but ask, “Do you have a grudge against her too?”

Zhuang Chen said, “Of course not! I don’t have that many enemies! That girl is a friend of mine. She’s really something!”

White Wolf chuckled: “What’s so special about her? You don’t even think much of Yin Sang, and she can’t even beat Yin Sang. Seems like you really dislike Yin Sang.”

“First of all, it’s not that I dislike Yin Sang; she’s just really annoying. Secondly—” Zhuang Chen said seriously, “Yin Sang has been training in martial arts for over a decade. Gu Ning was just an ordinary girl three months ago. Maybe she can’t beat Yin Sang now, but I think she’ll be able to soon.”

“This is the first time I’ve seen you speak so highly of a woman,” White Wolf said, slightly surprised.

“That’s because she deserves it,” Zhuang Chen smiled slightly. “If you get the chance, you should spend some time with her. I believe you’ll agree with my opinion.”

White Wolf raised an eyebrow indifferently: “Is that so?”

Dr. Gao walked out from the inner room, interrupting their relatively pleasant conversation.

“The wound is quite deep, and there are signs of infection. It needs to be stitched up. But I’ve run out of the hemostatic, anesthetic, and sutures that Gu Ning left last time.”

White Wolf said, “Don’t look at me. The medicine I scavenged has long been used up.”

Zhuang Chen immediately frowned and turned to White Wolf: “Where’s Gu Ning? Where is she now?”

Upon learning that Gu Ning had gone out, Zhuang Chen decided to leave as well, mainly to find medicine for Method. Coincidentally, White Wolf and his group were also planning to go out, so Zhuang Chen left Method in the infirmary and joined White Wolf’s car. Yin Sang was forcibly kept in the gathering place by Yin Qi.

Meanwhile, Gu Ning had no idea that Zhuang Chen and Method had arrived at the gathering place. They were discussing whether to venture deeper into the bustling city.

Third Brother and the others were full of confidence, saying that although there were many zombies there, they had managed to escape from there before. With so many ability users today, it should be relatively safe.

Gu Ning cautiously said, “There are too many zombies there, and zombies evolve faster than humans. It’s hard to guarantee that there aren’t more advanced evolved zombies in such a densely populated zombie area.”

Third Brother said, “Last time we accidentally stumbled in, we found that the supermarkets and shops there were basically untouched. In this situation, it’s like a mountain of gold and silver just sitting there. Jinyong is a big city, and who knows how many ability users are out there eyeing those supplies… And if we’re getting stronger while the zombies are also getting stronger, doesn’t that mean we’ll never be able to go in?”

Gu Ning fell silent.

“I know you’re worried about their safety,” Third Brother said, placing a hand on Gu Ning’s shoulder. “But like you said in the gathering place, we only get stronger through battle.”

Gu Ning knew Third Brother was right. Supplies were becoming increasingly scarce, and as Third Brother said, who knew how many people were eyeing the supplies in the bustling city. If they didn’t seize the opportunity now, they might not even get a taste of the spoils. She looked at the others, who seemed to be waiting for her decision. At some point, she had gained a decisive position in the team, equal to Third Brother.

But it was precisely because of this that Gu Ning felt the weight of responsibility on her shoulders. She glanced at Third Brother, realizing that this situation might have been intentionally created by him. She should be grateful for his trust, but the responsibility was too heavy. Gu Ning didn’t think she could bear it. After a brief internal struggle, she finally said, “Third Brother, you decide.”

Third Brother seemed to sense the meaning behind Gu Ning’s glance and felt slightly disappointed, but he quickly rallied and said with a smile, “Then let’s go! We’re going to hit it big this time!”
