Chapter 60: The Missing Information

“Well. I’ll trouble you with that when the time comes.”

With the power of the Ice Dragon King, covering the entire mountain with his barrier wasn’t a difficult task at all. When it was time for battle, he just needed to send someone over to notify him, just as he said.

“There’s no trouble in that. By the way, how is my daughter doing over there? Even though she married down to you, that doesn’t mean I won’t care about her.”

The Ice Dragon King began to inquire Gaia about how his daughter was faring in the human realm. She was his only daughter, and ever since he sent her away, he couldn’t sleep well, constantly worried if Ailin was being bullied by those humans.

“Do you… want to hear the truth?”

Gaia hesitated a bit, unsure of how to break it to the Ice Dragon King.

“Just tell me the truth. I won’t blame you.”

Hearing Gaia’s question about whether he wanted the truth, the Ice Dragon King felt a jolt in his heart. It seemed his daughter wasn’t doing well in the human world.

“She’s doing quite well. To be honest, I’m beginning to doubt if she’s really an Ice Dragon.”

“Huh? What do you mean by that? Does Ailin have any strange behaviors in your human kingdom?”

The Ice Dragon King furrowed his brow, sensing that things weren’t as simple as they seemed.

“Not just strange behaviors. The actions she takes don’t seem like what an Ice Dragon would do at all. For instance, dragons generally look down on humans, right? But Ailin has never looked down on her status; she treats the humans of Panimir as equals.”

Recalling how the Ice Dragon King always looked down on him, Gaia thought that if Ailin was indeed the king’s daughter, she should behave similarly. But she didn’t act like that at all.

“Hmm… that’s true. Ailin seems to have a natural fondness for humans. It appears she has been like this since she was born.”

Upon hearing Gaia’s words, the Ice Dragon King also remembered that Ailin had always been this way; despite humans being lowly creatures, she inexplicably liked them.

“Another thing is that Ailin seems to know quite a bit about human society. I initially thought she had visited the human realm, but after asking, I found out she has never been there before.”

“Hmm… has anything like this happened to her in your human kingdom? It seems I really don’t know my daughter at all.”

The Ice Dragon King shook his head. If he hadn’t heard Gaia’s words, he might never have known about this side of his daughter.

“Then Gaia, what do you think of Ailin? Do you regret marrying her?”

The Ice Dragon King continued to ask Gaia about whether he regretted marrying his daughter.

“How could I possibly regret it? Honestly, being able to marry Ailin is the luckiest thing in my life.”

“Is that so? From what you just said, it sounds like she’s caused you quite a bit of hassle.”

“Not just hassle; she’s sometimes been very helpful! Like when I’m up all night revising documents, she’ll make me tea. Although the tea is terrible, it serves well enough as a pick-me-up.”

“I see, that’s good to hear. I won’t pry any further. You two should rest a bit here. Once I regain control over these monsters on the mountain, you can head down.”

The Ice Dragon King closed his eyes and began to extend his barrier, reassuming control over the monsters.

Gaia and Ouxs could only sit quietly by the throne, waiting for the Ice Dragon King to finish regaining control.

After about five minutes, the Ice Dragon King completed the task.

“Alright. Those monsters are now back under my control. They shouldn’t be obstructing you anymore. Hurry down the mountain now; if you wait too long, I can’t guarantee your safety. Though I’d be fine escorting you myself, if the humans saw me doing that, it would surely cause quite a ruckus.”

“Indeed. If someone sees us, it would be quite problematic. Thank you, Ice Dragon King; we’ll head down first. When the battle plan is set in motion, I’ll send someone to notify you.”

“Okay, I’ll be waiting for that day to arrive.”

After bidding farewell to the Ice Dragon King, Gaia and Ouxs quickly made their way down the mountain before it got completely dark, returning to the Royal Palace.

“It seems our preparations are almost complete.”

Ouxs calculated their current readiness. Aside from the elite troops from the palace, there was also support from Aierjisi and Yake, plus the support from the Phoenix they had summoned. Now, with the Ice Dragon King’s support, they had essentially gathered all possible allies.

“Can’t say everything is done yet. Ouxs, how’s the development on your end?”

Gaia turned back and inquired about Ouxs’s progress. For the battle plan to succeed, they needed two essential items.

One was a device to maintain the Teleportation Gate. Those Ultimate Life Forms would definitely come through the gate into this world, and on the other side of the gate was their Base Camp. Gaia needed to find a way to keep that gate open for a considerable amount of time to rescue Ailin and have enough time to retreat.

The other was the Energy Extraction Device, used to siphon Diablo’s energy and weaken his combat power as much as possible. Otherwise, no matter how many allies they gathered, it would be utterly insufficient against him.

“I’m working hard on those two. The Energy Extraction Device is going smoothly, but progress on the Teleportation Gate isn’t going as well. If we could obtain some information about them, it might help with the research.”

Ouxs informed Gaia about the development of the two devices. The matter of the Teleportation Gate was tricky because it was a field he had never explored; on top of that, the principles of different gates varied, and figuring out their gate would require relevant intel first.
