Finally, the day had come. City Lord’s Memorial Day! On this day, Bield City would kick off a full day of crazy celebrations to commemorate the City Lord’s ascension.

Aierjisi left the City Lord’s Mansion early in the morning with Yake, wandering around the city to join the party, eager to immerse herself in the festive atmosphere.

“Wow! Yake, look over there! Is that cotton candy?”

Aierjisi tugged at Yake’s shirt, pointing to a shop in the distance that seemed to sell cotton candy.

“Yeah, it really is cotton candy. What’s up? You wanna eat some?”

“Mm-hmm! I really wanna eat cotton candy! Go buy me some, quick!”

Aierjisi’s eyes sparkled with an odd gleam. Seeing his little princess so happy today, Yake just ruffled her hair.

“Okay, okay. If you want it, I’ll go buy it for you. Just wait quietly for me here.”

“Mm-hmm. Hurry up and come back. I’ll be right here waiting for you.”

Shoving Yake’s back, Aierjisi pushed him toward the cotton candy stand, urging him to hurry and get her some.

“Hey, don’t rush me! Seriously, you’re a bit too impatient!”

Complaining out loud, Yake nonetheless walked honestly to the shop and made his order.

“Hello! What flavor of cotton candy would you like? We have original and strawberry!”

Gazing at the two different colored bunches of cotton candy, Yake frowned in contemplation. A girl like Aierjisi would surely love strawberry flavor. So he decided on that.

“I’d like one strawberry flavor, and let’s get an original flavor too.”

He was also craving cotton candy himself. It wouldn’t do to just watch the little princess eat all day; he needed to buy something to satisfy his own stomach as well.

“Sure! Here’s your original cotton candy, and this is your strawberry one. Please take care. The total is ten copper coins.”

“Alright, here you go. Do you have change?”

Yake opened his pouch, and wow, it looked like he had forgotten to prepare any change! It was all sparkling gold coins inside. He couldn’t tell if this small town could even provide change for that much money.

“Please wait a moment, I’ll go get your change.”

The shopkeeper took the gold coin—such a shiny coin!—and it was quite a task to get change for Yake.

“Here you go! This is your change. Please count it.”

“No need, I trust you.”

Stuffing the change into his pouch, Yake returned to Aierjisi with the two bunches of cotton candy.

“Here you go! Aier, your cotton candy! I got you the strawberry flavor specially.”

“Oh, thanks! But how did you know I like strawberry flavor?”

Taking the cotton candy Yake handed over, Aierjisi took a big bite and felt the softness of the cotton candy filling her mouth, showcasing a blissful expression.

“Nah, I just thought a little girl like you would probably like strawberry flavor.”

Even though saying so might have been a bit rude to Aierjisi, seeing her act and think like an 11-year-old girl, Yake just couldn’t view her as someone older.

“Eh? Is that so? But you’re treating me like a little kid! I told you not to see me that way!”

“Sorry, I was wrong. Please forgive me this time, Your Majesty.”

Yake hurriedly pleaded for mercy while buttering her up. With Aierjisi’s sweet and innocent nature, just a few kind words would easily lift her spirits.

“Hmph! Since you quickly admitted your mistake, I’ll let you off this time. But next time? Don’t blame me if I twist your neck!”

“Ugh, so scary, so scary!”

Yake pretended to look scared.

“Speaking of which, do you like cotton candy too?”

Only then did Aierjisi notice Yake had a bunch of white cotton candy in his hand. That one must be the original flavor, right? It couldn’t be for her!

“Oh, this? I’m a bit tempted too, so I got this cotton candy for myself. I haven’t had it in ages! The taste is so nostalgic.”

Yake took a bite of the cotton candy and remembered the flavor from his childhood.

“Mm. Looks like your childhood was pretty good! You actually got to eat cotton candy.”

“I only had it once when I was really little. There was a cotton candy vendor in town, and my father bought me a bunch. Ah, thinking back, I was so happy back then.”

Recalling the feeling of eating cotton candy for the first time, Yake couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Well, that does sound nice! But I’m different; this is my very first time eating cotton candy.”

Unlike Yake, Aierjisi had never had cotton candy before. She only asked him to buy some because she was super curious about it.

“Eh? This is your first time eating? But you’re the Princess of the Blood Clan! You’ve never had cotton candy before?”

After hearing the little princess’s complaints, Yake gained a new understanding of her life in the Royal Palace.

As she spoke, Aierjisi couldn’t help but lower her head and sigh. Her dad was just too strict with her.
