Chapter 446 Tallying Up
Looking at the ring on the table, Dorothy commented inwardly about the usefulness of the bl**d-Eating item, as she had a deep understanding of its effectiveness.
After the ring, there was a cane, which was the one that could transform into a flail belonging to Bengochiel. At the time, Dorothy had assumed it was an extraordinary item, and indeed it was.
This cane was named “Heavy Shatter.” It usually appeared as a cane, but upon triggering a mechanism, the head would detach and quickly transform and enlarge. The detached head connected to the cane with a chain, turning it into a flail. The head of Heavy Shatter could instantly increase its weight by consuming the spirituality of “Stone,” making it incredibly destructive when wielded, capable of easily smashing walls. In Bengochiel’s hands, who had applied a bl**d-Eating Sigil, it could knock out a Wall-crosser with just two strikes, making it a standard close-combat extraordinary prop.
‘The cane transforming into a flail… able to instantly increase its weight by consuming “Stone”… seems quite impressive. Compared to a sword, something like a flail is simpler and more direct, with great force and destructive power. If there’s an opportunity, I should let Vania try it out. However, these craftsmen seem to prefer making close-combat extraordinary items look like canes. Is it because they are easier to carry in social settings? You can grab them immediately if needed.’
Dorothy evaluated the cane this way. Overall, this Heavy Shatter cane was likely the best among the spoils.
Following the cane were some sigils, including two bl**d-Eating Sigils, one Swamp Sigil, and one Earth Listening Sigil. Dorothy recognized these sigils previously, aside from a few others she had just identified.
There were two Burning Sigils, which could emit a burst of flame. There was also one Wind Blowing Sigil, which could produce a strong gust of wind. Both of these were elemental attack sigils. Dorothy concluded these were for Bengochiel to use in emergencies, based on the presence of another pistol among the spoils.
This pistol was not an extraordinary item; it lacked spirituality, but its design was very unique. It was made from black stone, with a large barrel and no conventional ammunition chamber. Instead, it had two custom loading ports for sigils and spirituality storage items. After examining the other pistol closely, Dorothy understood its purpose.
This pistol could load sigils and storage items that directly emitted elemental attacks, channeling the elemental attacks through the barrel to create a jet effect. A Stone Demon could load a sigil and storage item into itself, maximizing the sigil’s effect, thus achieving efficient charging. Dorothy thought this might be a standard accessory for a Stone Demon of the Dark Gold Society.
‘Using sigils and storage items to charge up elemental power… for a Stone Demon, this is more like a syringe. It doesn’t seem very useful for me…’
After evaluating the peculiar stone firearm, Dorothy set it aside and looked at the last items in the spoils: a few storage items.
Bengochiel had two small meat-like “cups” for the bl**d-Eating Sigils and two gold-shaped “lamps” for the Burning Sigils. Among these, the two “lamps” were used for identification, so Dorothy ended up with only two “cups.”
In addition to these items, Dorothy found about 50,000 Betas in cash on Bengochiel, equivalent to about 350 pounds if converted to Pounds. This was also decent; it was unusual for someone to carry so much cash unless necessary.
After appraising the items, Dorothy calculated her spirituality consumption and found it quite worrying.
Dorothy’s action consisted of two parts: first, ambushing two Wall-crossers and confronting them directly. During this encounter, she used two bl**d-Eating Sigils, activated the damage transfer ability, and utilized the flowing electric body state, consuming 4 “cups” and 2 “stones.” When infiltrating the Dark Gold Society’s lair, she spent 3 “shadows” to conceal the omniscient pattern puppet mark on the living puppet Barna. She fired the Focus Incineration Sniper Rifle at Bengochiel using the lowest power, consuming 2 “lamps.” Then, she used magnetism to maneuver against Bengochiel, consuming 1 “stone,” and fired the electromagnetic cannon, consuming 5 “stones.”
The sniper rifle’s consumption came from the 5 “lamp” charges already in the g*n, 2 of which were used. The 3 “shadows” cost was covered by the “shadow” storage item given by Sister Knight from the An Yin Bureau. Combining this with the 7 “stones” and 3 “enlightenments” gained from reading Balar’s secret transmission, Dorothy’s current spirituality status was as follows:
28 “cups,” 4 “stones,” 20 “shadows,” 4 “lamps,” 14 “silences,” 37 “enlightenments.” In terms of spirituality storage items, she had 2 “cups” and 4 “shadows.” After converting all cash to Pounds, she still had 1,850 pounds left.
‘Ugh… this consumption is enormous. Indeed… my spirituality flows like water when I engage in direct combat. The ‘stone’ spirituality I bought with over a thousand pounds is almost depleted after a single fight. This means I can’t even maintain my daily activities, let alone accumulate enough for advancement.’
Rubbing her temples, Dorothy felt somewhat distressed. This incident wasn’t particularly significant compared to previous ones, but the spirituality consumption was extremely high. The main reason was that she engaged in direct combat without any assistance, leading to uncontrollable high consumption.
‘The electromagnetic cannon is powerful, but it consumes too much spirituality. I should use it less often. Fortunately, apart from the electromagnetic cannon, Misaka Mikoto’s other superpower applications, such as regular magnetic force usage, are quite strong and consume relatively little…’
Thinking to herself, Dorothy believed that among her output capabilities, the most cost-effective was probably the lightning strike. It was not about creating lightning but guiding natural lightning from clouds, allowing her to generate tremendous power with minimal spirituality. However, this meant her lightning strike capability was heavily dependent on weather conditions and had a long preparation time, making it less versatile overall.
‘Another point of consumption is that after blowing up the ship last time and the house this time, the explosives I brought from Tivyán are almost used up. I need to find a way to replenish them. When used properly, explosives are quite effective.’
Continuing her thoughts, Dorothy planned to spend the next couple of days looking for the black market in Trua to see if she could get some explosives.
Looking at her remaining few “stones,” Dorothy recalled that she came to Trua specifically to buy “stones.” Initially, she had 5, but now only 4. After going through everything, she actually had fewer than before. Facing this situation, Dorothy could only sigh at the hardships of life.
