Chapter 629: Dark Demon Thousand Miles Shared Meal (4k)
“Mm-hm, I understand.”
While DArk casually responded to Eve’s words, he picked up a small bowl and started putting condiments inside.
“By the way, do you like sesame paste?” he asked.
Eve was taken aback for a moment and replied, “It’s okay…”
DArk then ladled some sesame paste into the small bowl and stirred it evenly. “Sit down, take whatever you want.”
Eve whispered, “But Your Grace…”
“Let’s eat a little first.” DArk smiled warmly.
Since Irina, his sister, had returned to the capital city, it was now possible to contact Alvaraite anytime.
DARK originally planned to ask Eve for a “video call” during the Halloween ball, which would have made it more meaningful.
But since Alvaraite had invited him, he naturally couldn’t refuse.
However, Eve had worked hard in the shop all day, so she should eat first.
After giving Eve the small bowl, he took some slices of meat and put them into the pot with a strainer. Once cooked, he quickly scooped them out and placed them in Eve’s bowl.
Eve looked a bit embarrassed but still picked up a fork and tasted it.
The meat was tender and smooth, complemented by the flavor of the sauce, making her want to swallow her tongue.
Eve subconsciously sped up her eating.
Seeing that she liked it, DArk continued to add more meat slices to the pot.
He gave portions to Diana, Pandora, and others as well.
“Kamun!”
Little Cubone immediately let out an unhappy sound.
DArk laughed and specially prepared a large spoonful of meat for it.
From the start, he knew there were several big eaters among the group tonight, so he had prepared enough food to satisfy them.
Eve watched the young master happily, no longer urging him.
However, although she saw his happy appearance, she didn’t notice his inner distress.
Since the meal began, DArk had been cycling between cooking, serving, cooking, and serving, but he only ate a little himself.
Although he had the urge to overeat, he had to restrain himself.
Just like every night snack, he controlled his intake.
It was truly a bitter situation.
…
After about half an hour, DArk finally felt half full. He looked at Eve, who had stopped eating, and said, “Have you resolved the barrier issue?”
Eve nodded slightly and said, “I got permission from Professor Shylph.”
Then she took out a cylindrical object the size of a knuckle from her bag and said, “With this ‘key,’ I can use the ‘Mind Link’ technique to connect with Irina within the academy.”
“So that’s it.” DArk nodded. “Then let’s check if Irina is available to communicate.”
Eve said, “Okay.”
She then lifted her hand to her temple under the watchful eyes of others, closing her eyes slightly.
As mana circulated, the twin bloodline resonated, triggering the ‘Mind Link’ technique.
Eve and Irina’s thoughts instantly synchronized.
Even without speaking, they could communicate at high speed.
After a moment, Eve opened her eyes and nodded at DArk.
DArk took a bite of vegetables and said, “Let’s begin.”
Following instructions, Eve turned around to face the white wall and used the ‘Mind Link’ again.
Suddenly, a familiar living room scene appeared on the wall. Alvaraite and Claire, who had been eagerly waiting, also appeared.
Behind them were Jasmine and Headmaid Olivia.
“Good evening, Mother, Aunt Claire.”
DArk picked up chopsticks and winked at the projection.
“Good evening, my dear… Oh, Eve, turn around?” Alvaraite said urgently.
Eve internally chuckled and turned around while keeping the projection steady, looking at DArk.
What she saw through the ‘Mind Link’ was projected onto the walls of the Duke’s Mansion.
When Alvaraite finally saw her long-missed child, her urgent heart calmed down instantly.
But she still stared at the projection and said, “Okay, stop moving, let me see more!”
So Eve remained motionless, staring at DArk.
Although DArk knew this was for the ‘Mind Link,’ he still felt uneasy being stared at.
He sighed, “Mom, did you have dinner?”
Alvaraite finally stopped staring at him, and Eve, synchronized with Irina, relaxed slightly.
Alvaraite said, “Not yet. I heard you’re having a banquet tonight?”
“It’s not a banquet, just everyone gathering for a meal.” DArk said. “Is the food ready at home?”
Claire, standing next to Alvaraite, smiled and said, “We’re waiting for you.”
“Huh.” DArk turned to the hotpot on the table and suggested, “Why don’t we eat while talking?”
Alvaraite immediately agreed.
Then, Irina stood up and walked toward the dining area.
Once everyone arrived at the dining area, the projection stabilized.
The two groups, separated by thousands of miles, shared a meal together.
After seeing enough of her son, Alvaraite gestured for Eve to move the camera view and greet everyone present.
Diana, Aurora, and Pandora were already used to the Duke’s lack of formality, but Rose felt quite surprised.
Standing on the chair, Baby Bear seemed to realize for the first time that DArk was the Duke’s son and the “son of the Valkyrie”!
Having read many books recently, it knew what “Valkyrie” meant.
It instinctively shrank, trying to lower its presence.
But its presence was so unique; it couldn’t hide.
Alvaraite glanced and suddenly said, “Is that Shirley Augustine?”
Clearly, Claire had already told her about what happened in the dungeon.
Baby Bear realized its monster identity was known and became even more timid.
Fortunately, Alvaraite didn’t seem to delve further.
While Baby Bear breathed a sigh of relief, Alvaraite focused more on Pandora.
After greeting her, she gently said, “I heard Hephaestus has successfully taken office?”
Pandora thanked her, “Yes, it’s thanks to Aunt Claire’s help.”
Alvaraite suddenly asked, “Is she teaching the first year?”
Pandora replied, “Yes. She teaches Beast Mastery for the first year.”
Alvaraite nodded, “Then Victoria and Phoenix will need her care.”
Pandora smiled warmly, “Although I really want to say yes, they don’t need extra care. My mother mentioned that they both excel in Beast Mastery.”
Victoria slightly raised her chin, and Phoenix’s eyes sparkled.
But then, DArk’s voice echoed softly, “But their other grades aren’t ideal, especially History of Magic.”
Victoria and Phoenix’s faces froze instantly.
Victoria mumbled, “Actually, my math grade is okay…”
DArk smiled, “Indeed, after all, you ran ahead by forty-nine meters.”
“Wu!” Victoria had nothing to say.
Before starting the meal, DArk had already checked on their grades.
Victoria and Phoenix had similar grades.
History of Magic was their common weakness.
But Summoning Spells, Duel Class, and Beast Mastery were their strong points.
Summoning Spells benefited from their early training in mana control, and as golems, they had natural advantages.
Duel Class was due to their better-than-average skills in summoning spells and DArk’s teachings.
Beast Mastery was simply because they weren’t afraid of danger and dared to get close to the magical creatures brought by Hephaestus, thus learning faster.
But Magic Theory and Potions were less fortunate.
Their grades in these subjects were merely passing.
But compared to History of Magic, they were certainly better off!
As Victoria put it, History of Magic was too boring!
Moreover, the history taught in History of Magic was about human history, which had no connection to golems.
Then she was scolded by DArk!
History of Magic included the evolution of mana technology, which was crucial to golems. It was impossible for them to be completely unrelated.
Victoria had nothing to say and could only pretend to be dead.
…
Alvaraite clearly cared deeply about the two golems’ grades. Phoenix, as her long-time companion, was more than just concerned about their academic performance; she was also worried about their life at the academy.
Almost two months had passed since school started, and even first-year young magi should have recognized the two golems by now.
Alvaraite was very worried about whether they would face discrimination.
Even if no one dared to bully them openly because of DArk, the cold violence among classmates was equally terrifying.
As a Magus, Alvaraite hoped her golems could have a happy time at the academy.
Fortunately, her worries didn’t come true.
Saint Maryann Academy students were almost accustomed to the fact that golems and humans were not much different.
In fact, revealing Phoenix’s true identity would only make her more popular.
After all, she was the “Undying Divine Spear” of Alvaraite Saint Diemond!
…
Alvaraite’s interruption didn’t stall the meal. Under DArk’s invitation, the atmosphere warmed up again.
Many maids in the Duke’s Mansion’s dining hall came over and appeared in the projection one by one.
Separated by thousands of miles, they shared a meal together.
Alvaraite then asked about DArk’s grades.
Of course, she didn’t need to worry.
His calm and confident response made her smile involuntarily.
Alvaraite concluded, “I heard from Claire that this year’s Halloween activities will be different. Maybe you’ll have a more enjoyable night.”
“Really?” DArk took a sip of soup and said, “Can Aunt Claire give us a hint?”
Claire laughed, “Of course not. You’ll be surprised.”
DArk: “I hope it’s not a fright…”
Claire’s eyes flickered quickly, then she said, “Claire and I will watch the opening ceremony of the ‘Golden Cup’ on Halloween afternoon, hoping to see you perform on the duel stage.”
DArk hesitated, “I’ve signed up, but such an important match might feature senior students, like Pandora.”
But Pandora raised her head and smiled, “Then shall I sign up?”
DArk was surprised, “Didn’t you sign up?”
Pandora nodded, “Originally not.”
DArk thought for a moment and said, “Then sign up.”
Pandora smiled sweetly, “Why? Want to meet me?”
DArk rubbed his nose honestly, “Indeed.”
Pandora said, “Then I’ll sign up.”
DArk worried, “Won’t it affect your study plan?”
Pandora shook her head, “Of course not. Dueling won’t take long, just a bit of exercise. Actually, I was planning to sign up, just hadn’t done it yet.”
DArk nodded, “If we meet, don’t hold back.”
Pandora smiled, “A lion never plays with a rabbit lightly. I never hold back.”
DArk couldn’t help saying, “I’m looking forward to it.”
…
This dinner lasted until around nine o’clock at night.
Eve originally planned to eat quickly and rush to Traveler’s Street, but unexpectedly, the Duke grabbed her neck, forcing her to act as a “camera” for over two hours.
Only when all the ingredients were consumed and there was nothing left to cook on either side did they reluctantly end the ‘Mind Link’—if not for Claire’s suggestion, the Duke would have chatted until midnight.
After bidding farewell to Alvaraite, DArk looked at the table and sighed, “Let’s clean up. We might still catch the last performance at Traveler’s Street.”
But plans changed.
When they finished cleaning and headed to Traveler’s Street, they found that the performances had already ended.
Students dispersed, and the once bustling street became desolate.
The group wasn’t too disappointed and walked down the empty street, chatting and laughing, treating it as post-dinner exercise.
Walking under the moonlight, laughter filled the air.
…
At eleven o’clock, they returned to the castle and went their separate ways.
After waving goodbye to Pandora, DArk was left with Diana, Rose, Aurora, and the golems.
“Let’s go back. We have class tomorrow.”
They smiled at each other and quickened their pace, entering the Tower of Noble Academy.
Three days passed in a blink.
When they looked up again, it was already the night of October 30th.
