Chapter 635 “Ten Thousand Requests for Moon Tickets” Dark Demon Dagon’s Carnage (10k)
“Here it starts! Here it starts!”
In the common room, Lily was staring intently at the mirror before her, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
She had switched her perspective the moment the “Ghost” began tracking the “Vampire.”
The “Ghost,” having stolen a treasure from the “Vampire,” led to a confrontation—a scenario she had envisioned perfectly!
Now the script was unfolding—this was the time to place bets!
“Who wins who loses, bet and be done with it!”
The common room buzzed with renewed excitement.
But today, the duelists were hard to choose between.
Dark Demon, despite being the top student among the second-year students, faced off against the “Ghost,” a superior fourth-year student. The gap in grades meant a significant disparity in knowledge.
Even though several arithmetic professors favored Dark Demon, a careful calculation of the odds suggested the “Ghost” had a higher chance of winning.
Yet, the battle began faster than they anticipated.
…
“In the name of Dark Demon, Magi Summon — ‘Pride III’!”
Dark Demon had prepared himself as soon as he spotted the “Ghost.”
He swiftly drew the “Pride III” card, and a burst of dark gold light surged from it, forming a pillar of light that shot skyward.
The Imp Beast within the light column had its skull emblem on its forehead transform into the symbol of “Pride.” The dark gold light poured into it like water.
Its body transformed into a radiant form from the inside out, rapidly growing larger, with bat wings unfurling dramatically behind it.
In an instant, the狰ly “Demon Beast” roared onto the scene!
Wrapped in black robes, only its pale skin around the mouth visible, its chest bearing a blood-red bat mark, two powerful arms reaching down to its knees, and demon claws as sharp as blades!
Though it was merely a four-star Magi Golem, the “Demon Beast” radiated an exceptionally powerful aura.
As the “Ghost” sensed danger, the “Demon Beast” vanished without a trace.
His expression changed drastically; the relaxed demeanor he had moments ago was gone.
But in this critical moment, the “Ghost” made the most correct decision he could think of.
—He lunged forward without hesitation!
Almost simultaneously,
The “Demon Beast,” having teleported behind him, launched a “Death Claw” at the spot where he had stood.
A massive, sharp claw suddenly extended, carrying a dense darkness that pierced through the air.
A whistling sound filled the air.
The “Ghost” rolled to the side like a lazy donkey, his right hand delving into his mana card deck during the process.
“How dishonorable!”
The sudden duel and ambush infuriated him, but remembering he was the one who had stolen first, he couldn’t speak.
When his fingers finally touched the Magi Card, a pained wail erupted above his head.
He raised his gaze to see the six-star Magi Golem — “Secret Snake” — impaled by “Lion Beast” through its neck!
Though the “Demon Beast” missed with its “Death Claw,” it struck the “Secret Snake” on its back without hindrance.
Despite the “Secret Snake’s” defense of 2500 points, the “Demon Beast’s” ultimate skill couldn’t fatally wound it.
But when distracted, “Lion Beast” seized the opportunity and instantly penetrated its defense!
“Secret Snares!”
The “Ghost’s” nerves tensed to their limit, almost immediately issuing a command for the “Secret Snake” to use its ultimate skill.
The heavily wounded “Secret Snake” let out a mournful cry, its neck pierced by a sword.
“Gya—”
The infant-like cry seemed to pierce the eardrums.
Dark Demon couldn’t help but cover his ears.
Then, from the “Secret Snake’s” mouth, a white mist suddenly spewed forth.
The mist expanded instantly, enveloping a five-meter radius around them.
Dark Demon lost all visibility and furrowed his brow.
“Eevee, Moon Power!”
“Mii!”
Eevee raised its head and opened its mouth under command.
Sacred moonlight flooded in from outside the castle, bathing its tiny, adorable body in its glow. The moonlight condensed into a bright orb in its mouth — doubling its power!
Under normal circumstances, “Moon Power” might not break through the “Secret Snake’s” defenses, but under the moon’s illumination, the doubled power easily tore through the white mist — missing!
The white fog dissipated.
The “Demon Beast” and “Lion Beast” stood there.
The “Secret Snake” and “Ghost” disappeared instantly.
“Where did they go?”
Dark turned abruptly, but found no trace of the “Ghost” or the “Secret Snake.”
Without a designated battlefield, if either party lacked the will to fight, they could easily escape.
“Spider Sense!”
Dark raised the “Spider Jewel,” channeling mana to release a web-like white beam.
The 360-degree web beam instantly helped him sense the presence of the “Ghost” and “Secret Snake” — they hadn’t escaped!
As a top student in the fourth year, although the “Ghost” often acted carefree, his pride was no less than that of other students.
He wouldn’t flee from a duel with a second-year student.
Above Dark, high on the ceiling, a “Secret Snake” with light wings grew ready, bursting downward toward Dark!
Meanwhile, the “Ghost” clung to the ceiling in an extremely bizarre pose, hands free, holding several Magi Cards between his fingers.
When Dark noticed, the invisible “Secret Snake” was already swooping down with a gust of wind.
His face changed instantly, gathering strength beneath him to leap backward.
Using the power gained from cultivating his qi, he burst forth, successfully dodging the “Secret Snake’s” fatal attack.
Beside him, “Eevee” manipulated two ribbons, shooting upward.
However, the fundamental disparity in strength between the two Magi Golems became apparent.
Though “Eevee’s” ribbons tried to drag the “Secret Snake” out of its invisibility state,
The hidden snake, having lost track of its main target, suddenly opened its blood-filled mouth and bit down on the Eevee below.
Eevee struggled immediately after being bitten by the snake’s mouth.
Its passive skill—”Alluring Body”—did not activate.
The fangs of the hidden snake pierced through its skin.
…
“Yomimi!”
The “Dream Demon” floating nearby let out a panicked cry.
Then, the gem in its chest emitted red light and attempted to use “Telekinesis” on the snake’s mouth to pry it open.
But it was ineffective.
“Lion King Fist!”
Amidst its anxiety, a reliable roar suddenly reached its ears.
A shockwave shaped like a lion slammed heavily onto the hidden snake with immense force.
Though it did not cause much damage, it sent the snake flying!
The towering figure of the Lion Beast appeared before Eevee, its gaze fixed intently on the hidden snake that had landed again!
The hidden snake, with wings of light, not only gained the ability to fly but also received a significant enhancement.
…
On the ceiling.
Seeing the situation stabilize, the “Ghost” couldn’t help but say, “That scared me! My reputation could have been ruined.”
Dark looked up and sincerely said, “Senior’s reaction was really quick!”
The “Ghost” replied calmly, “It was okay.”
Dark smiled and said, “So, Senior, should you be ready this time?”
“You want more?” The “Ghost” instantly wanted to turn around but realized there was no space behind him.
He quickly turned his face back and tightened his grip on the Mana Card, urgently summoning.
…
On the ground, Dark already had a bronze mirror in hand.
Four small bronze snakes were entwined around the frame of this bronze mirror, which was clearly the Bronze Snake Mirror!
After holding the Bronze Snake Mirror, Dark felt a surge of energy, becoming even more agitated and impulsive.
But this feeling was suppressed in the next instant.
With a clear expression, he looked up at the “Ghost” and raised the Bronze Snake Mirror, slowly aiming it at the “Ghost”.
In a formal Mana Duel, item cards must be equipped in the Golem’s hands, and the target of the spell cannot be someone on the Competitors’ Platform.
However, in an immediate duel, targeting the competitor is the most correct strategy.
Although he didn’t know how the “Ghost” managed to stick to the ceiling, this action didn’t actually make him safer.
Once the “Petrifying Gaze” from the Bronze Snake Mirror’s light beam hit him, the duel would end instantly.
…
But seeing Dark take out a mirror, the “Ghost” decisively switched to another Mana Card and summoned again.
Clearly, he had some understanding of the effects of mirror-type items.
When Dark injected mana to activate the “Petrifying Gaze” from the Bronze Snake Mirror, the “Ghost” completed his summon instantly as well.
Both parties acted simultaneously at that moment.
In the next second, the four small snakes on the frame of the Bronze Snake Mirror opened their eyes and glared upward at the “Ghost”.
Meanwhile, the Mana Card in the “Ghost’s” hand glowed brightly, and a black cloak instantly appeared in his hand.
He threw the summoned Mana Card into his sleeve and grabbed the cloak, shaking it vigorously.
Under his control, the black cloak covered his body like a blanket, tightly adhering to the ceiling.
…
“Mana Reflection Cloak?”
In the Common Room, Professor Lily instantly exclaimed in surprise.
Other professors also showed amazement.
Clearly, the “Mana Reflection Cloak” summoned by the “Ghost,” just like the “Bronze Snake Mirror” summoned by Dark, was equally unexpected.
Just like in a game of rock-paper-scissors.
If the “Petrifying Gaze” from the “Bronze Snake Mirror” was rock, then the “Mana Reflection Cloak” was paper.
— It could be considered a perfect counter!
Therefore, those professors who had bet on Dark all showed regretful expressions.
Once the petrifying light was reflected back, Dark would lose completely.
In this duel, the protective barrier for students was very precise, and effects like petrification would be converted into energy counts.
If it rendered the duelist unable to fight, the energy count would instantly reach 2000 points.
Of course, there would be some errors.
For example, if the duelist was unaffected by petrification, but the barrier couldn’t detect it, the energy count would still reach 2000 points.
In short, the priority was always to protect student safety.
The professors calmly watched the scene in the mirror.
However…
The gray light shot from the “Bronze Snake Mirror” did not reflect back due to the “Mana Reflection Cloak.”
In the professors’ extremely shocked gazes, the “Petrifying Gaze” penetrated the “Mana Reflection Cloak” and hit the barrier tightly adhering to the costume outside the “Ghost’s” control!
The energy count on the barrier surged instantly!
From zero to the maximum value of 2000 points in blood-red!
Similarly in the Common Room, but not paying attention to Dark, Professor Metia Barcello frowned and pointed at a Mana Card on the table.
The mirror in front of her instantly switched from observing Eudora Envi to observing Dark Dimon.
Then, the barrier on the “Ghost” suddenly glowed brightly, its transparent surface transforming into a reflective mirror!
The “Petrifying Gaze” light, reflecting off the mirror, instantly shot towards the “Hidden Snake” held by the “Lion Beast” on the ground!
In the next second…
This six-star “Hidden Snake” was instantly turned to stone by the reflected petrifying light!
The professors, witnessing this, almost simultaneously turned to look at Professor Metia.
Professor Metia looked up and smiled at them.
…
The duel inside the castle came to an end.
The “Petrifying Gaze” from the “Bronze Snake Mirror” passed through the “Mana Reflection Cloak” twice, encountering only slight resistance each time.
Clearly, these two items had different levels of capability.
After all, these were道具卡 made using three points of “Greed,” so such a result was not surprising.
But in reality, Dark had not
With this feeling, he did not even notice the effect of the “Mana Reflection Cloak.”
Moreover, because of the “Mana Reflection Cloak” blocking his line of sight, he couldn’t see the changes in the barrier and was very puzzled when the light beam of the “Petrifying Gaze” suddenly reflected back.
However, on the previously depicted Dueling Arena, the words “Duel Ended” were displayed.
Dark paused, put away the “Bronze Snake Mirror” in his hand, and then took out the “Selection Card.”
The “Selection Card” emitted a prompt sound after the duel ended.
The card also showed the name of the winner.
“I won!”
Dark quickly pondered, trying to deduce the process from the result, and finally found some clues.
He then revealed a smile and said to the “Ghost” above him, “Senior, thank you for your gift!”
…
The “Ghost” slowly lifted the “Mana Reflection Cloak,” revealing a face full of frustration hidden under the “Serpent Person” costume.
Compared to Dark below, he clearly knew what had happened.
The “Hidden Snake” that turned into stone below made him feel uneasy.
Thinking about how he would have turned to stone if not for the barrier’s protection, his heart beat more intensely.
But after lifting the “Mana Reflection Cloak,” he still managed to stabilize his voice: “This time you won, but there won’t be a next time!”
“Of course not,” Dark said with a smile. “After all, my ‘ability’ can only be used once on the same person.”
The “Ghost” tapped the Magic Golem card in his hand, and one of the Magic Golem cards emitted white light, enveloping him before gradually lowering.
He landed and said to Dark, “That’s not what I meant.”
Dark curled his lips: “I know.”
Then he bent down, picked up the Mana Spirit Eevee, who had exhausted too much mana, and said to the “Ghost,” “Time waits for no man, Senior. Continue finding your next target while I head to the next resource point. Thank you again for your gift!”
After these words, he waved his hand and quickly left with the Magic Golem.
…
Watching Dark’s swift departure, the “Ghost” clenched his teeth and drew the Magic Golem card of the “Hidden Snake” from his Mana Card Deck, preparing to recall it and then summon it again to refresh its state and free it from petrification.
But when he tried to recall the “Hidden Snake,” he suddenly froze and slowly looked up.
Although he had canceled the summon, the “Hidden Snake” still stood like a statue in the field.
“Can’t be recalled?”
At this moment, the “Ghost’s” eyes widened, and he suddenly turned toward the direction Dark had left: “Hey!”
…
“Stop calling me! I can’t do anything either!”
Dark quickened his pace and fled rapidly.
After being petrified by the “Bronze Snake Mirror,” it takes five minutes to recover automatically.
During this period, even using a general “Petrification Removal Potion” cannot undo the petrification.
And if the petrified object is a Magic Golem, it cannot be recalled into the Mana Card Deck.
Dark had already clarified this through experiments.
If the “Ghost” didn’t want to leave the petrified “Hidden Snake” behind, he would have to wait for five minutes.
“But this senior is so powerful, he should have other Magic Golem cards for concealment, right?”
“Even without the ‘Hidden Snake,’ he should still be able to track and steal, right?”
“Even if he doesn’t, it’s just five minutes.”
“The activity lasts six hours, which is 72 five-minute intervals!”
…
Two minutes later, Dark and the “Ghost” distanced themselves further, continuing their search for the eighth resource point.
The “Mana Spirit Eevee” had already been recalled into the Mana Card Deck, replaced by a mere three-star “Demon Fox Beast.”
He had checked his credits.
As he felt, the “Ghost” was indeed a formidable and excellent student, having earned nearly eight thousand credits during the activity, which certainly could not have come solely from stealing.
After winning the duel, Dark gained eight hundred credits, filling his pockets!
“I wonder if he’s a fourth-year or fifth-year, and whether we might meet in the ‘Golden Tournament.'”
After the recent duel, Dark’s hands were itching.
“I bet this senior is also holding back, wanting to win back in a proper duel.”
…
Almost as he finished replenishing the Mana Spirit Eevee, Dark finally located the positions of the eight resource points.
According to the map, this resource point was located at one corner of the castle, not inside a room.
He cautiously entered this dark, neglected corner, and suddenly everything went black, the faint light disappearing instantly.
Though he had disguised himself as a vampire, he wasn’t truly one and couldn’t see clearly in complete darkness.
Thus, he instinctively stepped back.
Light immediately returned.
“This must be the puzzle for this resource point? Finding the key in complete darkness?”
Dark’s heart stirred; he realized he had arrived at the location of the resource point.
But he didn’t enter again; instead, he turned to look at the “Imp Beast.”
The “Imp Beast” had not yet regressed after evolving.
Though it wasn’t a vampire, it had a certain level of night vision like the small imp beast.
The Lion Beast also had some night vision, but it still couldn’t see in total darkness.
In contrast, the “Imp Beast” was a child of darkness.
To it, darkness was like a mother’s embrace, and entering it was natural.
“Hurry up!” Dark urged.
The “Imp Beast’s” mouth curled arrogantly. “Leave it to me!”
Then it flapped its wings and plunged into the darkness.
Its wing-flapping sound abruptly disappeared as it continued forward.
Dark frowned deeply and whispered, “Even the sound is blocked?”
Light and sound were two major sources of information for humans to recognize their environment.
Few people could remain calm in an environment without light and sound.
Dark couldn’t guarantee he wouldn’t panic.
“I wonder who designed the mechanism for this resource point.”
He leaned against the wall, patiently waiting.
But after only two minutes, a piercing scream came from the path they had taken.
“Lion Beast,” Dark said indifferently.
The Lion Beast grabbed the sword hilt, ready to go.
The “Demon Fox Beast,” which had not yet participated in any battle since being summoned, immediately said, “I’ll take care of it.”
Dark was somewhat surprised. “Sure?”
“I.”
The Lion Beast slightly frowned but still handed over the “Solo Sword Sheath” to it.
The Demon Fox Beast took the Solo Sword Sheath, narrowed its eyes slightly, and felt the power transmitted from this “Holy Sword.” A faint smile appeared on its face before it suddenly furrowed its brows and said, “I’ll be right back!”
Dark nodded, allowing it to wield the sword and rush out to fight.
…
The Demon Fox Beast was a specialized Mana Spirit with magical powers.
Its Mana Value exceeded three-star perfection at 300 points.
But its attack power was also 1500 points.
It had maxed out its attack talent.
And the Solo Sword Sheath could grant it an additional 900 points of attack.
After the boost, it could reach 2400 points.
Although this was far inferior to Deoxys and Lion Beast, if the opponent was a mana spirit that was not proficient in defense, even a five-star or six-star one, it would be enough to break through its defenses.
As long as it could break through the defense, the Demon Fox Beast had confidence in winning the battle.
…
Dark leaned against the wall, continuing to wait.
To his right was an abyss of darkness, while to his left, the battle gradually intensified.
The frequent sounds of combat between the Demon Fox Beast and the Ghosts allowed him to momentarily divert his attention from the darkness that threatened to consume him.
But when the Demon Fox Beast returned after ending its battle, the Imp Beast had yet to emerge from the darkness.
“There are only two minutes left until evolution ends…”
Dark couldn’t help but narrow his eyes.
If there was no other way, he would have to resort to another method and forcefully dispel the darkness in this corner!
Though this approach certainly did not align with the professors’ intent for designing this challenge, who was he to be anything but a second-year student?
Dark looked toward the darkness, quickly thinking in his mind.
There were many ways to dispel the darkness, but among those he could think of, the two most effective were:
One was the field spell of a two-star Eevee—“Bright Sun (Pride).”
The other was the accompanying ultimate skill of the “Moonlight Jewel”—“Princess Kaguya.”
Sunlight and moonlight were the two great treasures for dispelling darkness.
…
While Dark was pondering this, he suddenly moved his body to the right by a step.
In that instant, the Imp Beast’s figure suddenly appeared beside him!
Clearly, it had used “Instant Teleportation.”
“What’s going on?” Dark asked abruptly.
The Imp Beast looked very disheveled.
Despite its Mana Value not decreasing, its body was covered in all sorts of messy marks, including some disgusting sticky mucus like snot.
The Imp Beast tightened its face but still said with its nose in the air, “There are many small things inside that can’t be touched or grabbed; don’t worry about them. I’ve found the mechanism and completely solved it.”
“Already solved?” Dark was slightly taken aback and looked toward the darkness involuntarily.
But there was naturally no movement in that soundless and lightless darkness.
Seeing that Dark didn’t believe it, the Imp Beast hurriedly added, “It’s a puzzle similar to a sliding block puzzle, somewhat like the game you once mentioned called ‘Huarong Dao.’ You need to move one piece to the exit. It’s quite difficult—but of course, it’s nothing for me, the mighty Imp Beast!”
“Alright, alright, I believe you,” Dark patted its shoulder, calming its excitement, and asked, “Then what happened next?”
The Imp Beast blushed: “Then I immediately came out to notify…uh…”
At that moment, a slimy tentacle covered in suction cups suddenly shot out from the darkness, wrapping around the Imp Beast’s feet.
The Imp Beast was still speaking when it was suddenly pulled inward by the tentacle.
With its 2000-point attack power behind it, it was completely no match for that tentacle, which instantly dragged it to the ground and pulled it inward.
Lying on the ground, it fiercely clawed at the ground.
“Ssss—”
The sound of the claws scraping the ground was exceptionally harsh.
The Imp Beast looked up at Dark, revealing a heart-wrenching look of despair.
But just as it was about to be pulled into the darkness, the time limit for evolution arrived!
“Pffft!”
The tall Imp Beast instantly regressed into a Small Imp Beast.
The feet entangled by the tentacle naturally disappeared.
“Ahhh—”
The Small Imp Beast screamed shrilly, flapping its wings frantically to escape into Dark’s arms.
Dark held it and immediately retreated.
The Lion Beast and Demon Fox Beast adjusted their positions, blocking his front to prevent the tentacle from attacking again.
The corridor was silent.
That forbidden darkness even failed to hear the sounds of monsters writhing.
“It seems the Imp Beast indeed solved the puzzle and summoned these Ghosts here…”
Dark’s expression was rather serious.
The power displayed by that tentacle should be over 3000 points of attack, likely a seven-star elite Ghost like the King of Ghosts.
Seven-star elite Ghosts were not invincible.
But if it merely hid in that dark corner and did not come out, killing it would be at least two tiers more difficult.
“In the end, the darkness still needs to be dispelled, doesn’t it?”
Dark reached into his Mana Card Deck and decisively drew out “Magical Beast: Eevee” and “Pride II·③.”
“In the name of Dark Diemon, Mana Summoning—[Magical Beast: Eevee]!”
In the snow-white summoning light, the body of Lil’Eevee gradually materialized.
Dark carefully observed the darkness and quickly said, “In a moment, use ‘Bright Sun’ on that corner.”
“Eevee!” Although Lil’Eevee didn’t know what was in that dark corner, it still nodded firmly.
Dark waited for the cooldown of the regular summoning spell to finish and then immediately summoned and activated the “Pride II” card.
As the light of “Pride II” illuminated, the spark in Lil’Eevee’s eyes became brighter, rising from one-star to two-star.
Then it gathered energy and spat out a ball of light gathering the power of the sun toward that dark corner.
The light ball merged into the darkness and was instantly swallowed.
But when the effect of “Bright Sun” fully erupted, the darkness in that corner was dispersed like melting snow.
Dark finally saw the situation in that corner clearly.
On both sides of the corner, old chairs and tables were piled up.
Some of the chairs and tables were pushed aside, exposing the props on the back wall, which matched exactly the items described by the Imp Beast.
Floating in the air between the walls and among the chairs and tables were more than ten white ghosts, each showing a comical expression and frequently emitting eerie laughter.
Their tongues extended to half their body size, covered in wet, sticky mucus.
Scattered on the ground were all kinds of strange toys.
Clearly, these ten ghosts had used various toys to make the Imp Beast extremely embarrassed.
But judging from how helpless the Imp Beast was against them, they weren’t as weak as they seemed on the surface.
However, none of these mattered.
The biggest issue at present was the enormous monster lying on the ground like a shadow!
The monster’s body
It was a huge hat, flopping lifelessly on the ground, its body completely black. From beneath this hat-like form, an octopus tentacle with suction cups extended.
But as it straightened slightly, more tentacles could be seen hidden underneath, densely packed!
…
Dark did not get a clear look.
The thing in the corner exposed itself for a moment, but was immediately swallowed by the regenerating darkness.
Even the light orb that released “Great Sun” was completely engulfed.
Dark lost sight of the interior of the darkness once again.
“Gooei!”
Eevee immediately let out an angry cry.
Dark said solemnly, “Even ‘Great Sun’ cannot completely dispel that darkness? Then what about using the ‘Moonlight Pearl,’ will it be the same situation?”
At this moment, the demon fox beast in front of him suddenly spoke, “But we have already seen it!”
“Indeed, seeing it once is enough.” Dark’s lips curled slightly as he drew a new magic card from his mana deck.
He asked, “So, are you ready, demon fox beast?”
The demon fox beast perked up, and immediately said, “Of course!”
“Since that’s the case.”
Dark placed the magic card between his index and middle fingers, and sharply swept forward.
“Swipe and Evolve!”
…
The “demon fox beast,” under the radiance of “Bliss III,” evolved into the “Nine-Tailed Fox Beast!”
A golden fox with nine tails raised its chin sharply amidst the scattered radiance, blue flames rising abruptly from the tips of its tails and feet.
Taoist symbols, representing the “Way,” adorned its forehead and upper limbs.
The two antennae on its neck resembled ritual cords, their tips resembling golden bells.
Upon completing its evolution, it immediately turned and pounced at Dark, licking his face fiercely!
Dark, experienced in such situations, retreated half a step backward, avoiding being knocked over but still getting licked.
“Now is not the time to play around.” He said calmly.
“Since that ghost is hiding in the dark corner, unwilling to come out, we’ll force it out.”
The “Nine-Tailed Fox Beast” reluctantly turned back, facing the dark corner again.
Then, it began charging.
Blue fireballs emerged from the tips of its nine tails.
Following Dark’s command, it simultaneously released “Ghost Fireball” and “Fox Flame Dragon!”
“Boom!”
Nine blue fireballs surrounded a massive blue dragon, all converging on the corner.
Although the fireballs and dragon disappeared into the darkness, a scorching wave of flame burst forth.
In the eerily silent environment, the “Nine-Tailed Fox Beast’s” attack truly inflicted damage on the monster hidden in the darkness.
Dark narrowed his eyes and decisively ordered, “Next, Fox Electricity!”
“Ying!” The “Nine-Tailed Fox Beast” suddenly lifted its head and released a blue lightning bolt toward the center of the large monster.
The brief thunderclap ceased as soon as the lightning entered the darkness.
Dark immediately said, “Now! Let it experience the power of the ‘Tengu’!”
The “Nine-Tailed Fox Beast” stood on all fours, blue flames surging beneath its feet, merging with the flames covering its entire body into a terrifying energy ball.
When the energy within the ball reached its peak, the “Nine-Tailed Fox Beast” hurled it into the dark corner.
Darkness swallowed the light ball.
However, the flame surge produced after the “Tengu” exploded broke through the darkness.
A tremendous explosion erupted after a brief silence, shaking the floor beneath them.
Though the darkness remained undispelled, the effects of sound and light were severely compromised.
Dark soothed the exhausted “Nine-Tailed Fox Beast,” patiently waiting for the reaction of the tentacle monster.
But after one minute, then two minutes, even after the aftershocks of the “Tengu” had subsided, no ghost emerged from the darkness.
Dark returned the “Nine-Tailed Fox Beast” to the magic card, then grabbed the imp beast, saying, “Understood?”
“Understood…” The imp beast responded, drooping its wings and flying forward.
Then it dove back into the darkness.
Less than half a second later.
It emerged again.
Its previous lethargy had completely vanished.
Dark saw its excited expression and guessed the likely outcome.
But the imp beast’s eyes rolled, and it dived back in.
Soon after,
Dark’s selection card gained a considerable amount of credits!
That darkness did not dissipate even after the large monster died.
…
After a while.
The imp beast flew out clutching a handful of candies and a deep blue gemstone.
After handing the candies and gemstone to Dark, it proudly declared, “The imp beast has killed a seven-star monster!”
As the imp beast repeatedly boasted, Dark counted the candies and examined the gemstone.
This gem was palm-sized and very heavy.
Inside the gem, liquid seemed to flow, and when held close to the ear, the sound of waves could be heard.
But its aura was not pure, mixed with the familiar dark aura that Dark recognized.
“Dark attribute + Water attribute?”
Dark frowned.
Logically, such an energy-rich gem should be excellent material for creating a golem, but he couldn’t immediately imagine a target combining both attributes.
“Let’s put it away first and see later. It can always be useful. Even if it doesn’t work out, I might as well leave it to chance… it’s been a long time since I relied on luck.”
Thinking this, Dark’s frown eased.
He stowed the gem and candies, then looked up at the imp beast and said, “Calm down, it’s time to continue on.”
“Yomimi—” The mana spirit suddenly appeared in front of Dark from behind, extending a tentacle to point behind him.
Dark instantly became alert, “Could there be another ‘ghost’?”
Not a ghost.
A senior student walked out from the direction pointed by the mana spirit.
He whispered, “It seems you’ve successfully conquered this resource point. What a pity.”
