Chapter 639

Chapter 639: Act 2 – Is Cheating Really Okay?

“Alorze?”

“What are you doing here?” Brendel asked with a hint of guilt. “Didn’t you go back to your clan?”

Fortunately, the girl named Alorze merely let out a cold hum and didn’t set this place ablaze. She frowned and replied, “I finished what I needed to do, and it’s really annoying. I heard you did something remarkable, so I came back to see you, but I didn’t expect to witness such a perverted scene.”

“What perverted scene?” Brendel was taken aback.

Cough, cough. The aide behind him began coughing violently, as if she had suddenly contracted a serious illness or asthma.

The young female dragon glanced back, seeing everyone staring at her in shock. She felt quite displeased. “What are you all doing here? Can’t you see I’m talking to this guy? I don’t like being observed like an animal, especially by humans. That wizard from the Bud clan over there—why are you laughing? Are you not human?”

She let out a heavy snort. “Everyone get out!”

When she spoke in that tone, looking like a loli, she seemed perfectly justified. That arrogant demeanor appeared innate, giving no sense of incongruity, especially with her imposing golden eyes that dared anyone to meet her gaze.

The golden bloodline seemed to mark her as a born ruler, and this knightly aura naturally radiated from her, more legitimized than any secular king could ever be.

“When did you develop this habit?” Brendel was slightly taken aback; he remembered that this young female dragon didn’t have so many issues when they were in the forest.

But his silly question only earned him a fierce glare.

“Well, I leave this to you, my lord.” The aide looked at her lord with a bit of sympathy, couldn’t help but shake her head, and then departed, leading the others away. Following her was Turiman, the learned scholar, who seemed to find the little dragon’s arrogance strangely amusing—probably because the People of Silver were accustomed to dealings with the People of Gold.

Lastly were the two Silver Elves and Medisa, who all bowed respectfully to Alorze before exiting the room.

Soon, only Brendel and the young female dragon remained in the room—of course, there was also Romaine, who was sleeping soundly. The young female dragon poked her finger at the Merchant Miss’s soft face, trying to wake her, but clearly, she was quickly defeated in her efforts.

“Ugh, Brendel, take your claws off me, let me sleep for a bit.” Romaine mumbled incoherently in her dreams, casually swatting Alorze’s hand away like she would a mosquito.

Alorze, however, seemed to have found a toy; she poked around Romaine’s face and said, “Your fiancée is really fun; let’s just leave her here.”

“Don’t treat others as your toys,” Brendel replied peevishly, even though Alorze was also female—oh wait, a dragon. But he could still feel jealous; Little Romaine’s face belonged to him alone.

“Didn’t expect you to be so protective; after all, she’s just a pervert.”

The young female dragon casually let go of Romaine and plopped down beside Brendel. She picked a grape from the nearby crystal dish, peeled it effortlessly, and tossed it into Brendel’s mouth. “Is it good?”

“When did I earn this title?” Brendel chewed suspiciously, glaring at the young female dragon, feeling a bad premonition. Although it was unlikely Alorze wanted something from him, he couldn’t shake off the feeling that this was the calm before the storm.

Had he offended her in some way?

He doubted to himself…

“Exposing oneself n*ked in front of the opposite s*x is considered perverted in your human eyes, right?” the young female dragon answered as if it was a matter of course.

“d*mn!” Brendel nearly spewed bl**d.

He immediately realized what the young female dragon meant, quickly checking his equipment panel, and found that the Elemental Bracelet, Flame Ring, Serpent Ring, Star of Flame, bl**d Meat Pauldrons, and every other accessory except for the Lich’s Tear carried a tag indicating: (completely destroyed, cannot be repaired).

The remaining higher-tier golden equipment was all in (damaged, repairable) condition. The only exceptions among his items were the Demon Spike, the Sword of the Earth, and the Dimensional Core, which remained unharmed.

In that moment, Brendel understood what had happened. He had managed to withstand the Titan’s attack, but unfortunately, all the other equipment had turned to ash. The loss was so severe it was almost unbearable; if the cultists didn’t offer him sufficient compensation, he would have really lost everything.

All his top-tier gear was destroyed. The equipment he had was almost the best obtainable in the first chapter, with several pieces verging on being overpowered, and some materials and the Rock Legion necklace in his bag had turned to ash without him even using them once. Brendel nearly cried; thankfully, the Five-Headed Serpent Lizard eggs and the Order Stone for upgrading his territory remained in Valhalla; otherwise, he would have seriously lost his mind.

Yet, with even these magical items incapable of escaping harm, he couldn’t expect his clothing to survive such intense lightning strikes. Brendel couldn’t help but weakly ask:

“Who was the first to reach me?”

“Of course, it was me,” Alorze replied.

“You… didn’t see anything, right?”

“Not much, really.” The young female dragon smirked mischievously. “Except that someone was charred from head to toe, and all their hair and eyebrows were burned away. That was quite ridiculous. Oh, and that disgusting thing of someone’s.”

Brendel felt so ashamed he almost wished to find a hole in the ground to hide in. “You—”

“Can’t you avoid it? Clearly, you’re a girl.”

“Avoiding it would have sent someone directly to the land of the dead; it was obviously weak and unaware of its own impending doom,” Alorze scoffed. “And, do you think a molting monkey would avoid anything?”

“That’s not comparable; I’m human!”

“To me, there’s no difference,” the young female dragon replied matter-of-factly. Brendel suddenly recalled that she was, after all, a dragon, and couldn’t help but feel a little defeated. It did seem that the People of Gold viewed the People of Black Iron as far inferior, much more so than how humans viewed monkeys.

So, Alorze saying this was, in fact, giving him face. Of course, this was not a kind of face Brendel wanted at all.

What made him a bit anxious was the fact that the young female dragon said he was completely bald now; he wouldn’t turn into a bald man, right? Even though he didn’t care much for appearances, that was a bit extreme.

Surprisingly, the young female dragon seemed to have seen through his thoughts, and she snorted disdainfully, “Don’t worry, I got it back for you. I don’t want a pervert as a toy; I’m not that Wysia.”

Brendel had no idea who Wysia was but figured she must be someone with peculiar tastes. Hearing that he hadn’t ended up bald, Brendel finally sighed in relief—this might count as a small mercy amid misfortune. He exhaled, “Thank you, Alorze; this is the second time you’ve saved me.”

“Don’t mention it; just work like a dog to repay me.”

“Dream on,” Brendel thought, then asked, “Speaking of which, how did you save me? If I remember correctly, your dragon clan doesn’t possess healing spells, do you?”

In his impression, dragons were proficient in ancient string magic, known for their devastating power, but he had never heard of any spells concerning revival.

Unless this girl was some kind of freak.

“It’s not really that difficult,” Alorze sat on the bed, peeled another grape, tossed it into her mouth, and replied cheerfully, “Although opening someone else’s dimensional rifts is a bit complicated.”

“Dimensional rift?”

“Wait, what did you say!”

Brendel immediately thought of something unsettling. He quickly opened the dimensional rift to check, and indeed found that the remaining vial of Holy Water No. 1 had vanished without a trace.

“You…” Brendel instantly felt speechless. After all that, this girl had come to borrow flowers to present to the Buddha, but how did she know he had Holy Water No. 1? He couldn’t help but glare inquisitively at Alorze.

“Don’t be so petty; keeping your life is more important, right?” the young female dragon comforted nonchalantly. “Besides, do you think saving you is easy? You don’t know what kind of bizarre powers brought your body into such chaos, yet you still manage to be bouncing around. But reviving you was quite troublesome.”

“Especially since your heart function completely failed,” Alorze said smugly. “So I gave you a new one.”

“You gave me what?” Brendel immediately had a bad feeling.

“Well, the best option was, of course, the Golden Heart.”

The bad feeling instantly transformed into wild joy as Brendel exclaimed, “Wait, you’re talking about the legendary heart that is undying, unbreakable? The heart of the Golden Race, which allegedly grants eternal life?”

Brendel’s voice even trembled in excitement; the Golden Heart had appeared in the game before. Its properties doubled the maximum health, doubled defense, increased life recovery by 300%, and crucially, it no longer counted as a critical vulnerable point.

The other three properties were fine, but the last one, combined with his Indomitable talent, was nearly overpowered.

At that moment, he felt like jumping out of bed and giving the young female dragon a hearty kiss.

“Wow, you know quite a bit; that’s just it.”

“You gave me that?” While Brendel felt a bit awkward about heart replacements in general, it was no big deal in a game. But in this world, he was a living person, and the thought of having a new part felt like turning into a monster.

“Of course not,” Alorze shook her head. “Do you expect me to have something like that on hand? Who would’ve known you would damage your own heart with nothing happening for a day? I had to cram that Titan’s Lightning Core into you.”

“Fortunately, that thing is pure energy, or else your little body wouldn’t fit it at all.”

“I…” Brendel nearly spat bl**d out. What the hell, he thought. This sounded like she was experimenting on him. Was there anyone who used a Titan’s Lightning Core for a heart? Wouldn’t that mean his bloodstream would be replaced by electricity?

The moment he imagined himself being hacked and lightning erupting from his wounds, chills ran down his spine.

“Why do you look so pale, as if you’re about to d*e?” Alorze immediately noticed Brendel’s anomaly. “Do you doubt my skills?”

Brendel looked at Alorze with a gaze that clearly said: ‘I highly doubt.’

“d*mn, why don’t you check for yourself?”

Brendel was slightly taken aback. At first, Alorze was urging him to feel out his bodily condition, a skill every strong being in the Elemental Domain could do; however, Brendel immediately opened his attribute panel.

He discovered that all of his attributes were actually perfectly normal, in excellent health, and his glance swept over his Mana and Mana Recovery, causing him to be stunned to see they had more than doubled. More crucially, his already astonishing will attribute had grown even further.

Moreover, a tag (Energy Enhancement) adorned the back of each, evidently owing to the Lightning Core.

However, theoretically, Lightning Cores were considered a type of equipment, and Brendel was puzzled as he had previously not noticed its existence in his equipment inventory. Instinctively, he opened the enhancement crystal panel and was taken aback.

There lay the Undead Knight Crystal quietly nestled in the arm enhancement slot, while a dazzling item that looked like the sun occupied the trunk enhancement slot.

Lightning Core: Mana and Mana Recovery doubled, Will +20, Wind Element Pool expanded and doubled.

A shiny golden label followed.

Fantasy Tier Enhancement Crystal Core.

Brendel found himself momentarily speechless, uncertain if he had gained something from this predicament. Simply in terms of gain versus loss, this one crystal was worth more than all the equipment he had lost.

However, the problem was, what was he supposed to do with an expanded Wind Element Pool?

He didn’t have many cards that required wind elements to begin with.

While Brendel was lost in thought, the young female dragon suddenly leaned closer. He snapped back to reality and saw her sparkling golden eyes staring intently at him, her small head practically pressed against his face.

Alorze’s sudden action startled him. “What are you doing?”

“Seems like you have many secrets. I noticed the elemental fluctuations earlier; you were checking your elemental pool, right? So strange, you haven’t unlocked the elemental state yet how did you manage to do this?” the young female dragon gazed at him intently. “And also, before, you suffered such severe wounds; you should have died instantly.”

“Curious, huh?”

“Don’t you want to explain?”

“Explain what?” Brendel asked nervously. How could he explain bloodline gifts, something NPCs didn’t have? Or should he say he was actually a player?

The young female dragon might just swat him down with a paw.

What was more crucial was that these were his greatest secrets. The Silver Wizards of Bud loved to research freaks like him.

He didn’t answer, and Alorze began sniffing around him. She sifted through her nose and softly said, “Just as I thought—”

“Just as you thought?”

Brendel suddenly felt a sense of abnormality creeping in. At this moment, the young female dragon was almost climbing onto the bed, burying her little head down along his collar, her curly hair brushing across his face, making him feel a bit ticklish.

A gentle fragrance, almost magical, lingered at his nose, making his bl**d begin to heat up. Soon he felt a burning sensation all over his body.

“What are you doing? Stop it now!” Brendel’s head was spinning; he clearly understood what was happening. He was actually responding.

Clearly, she appeared to merely be a loli with a terrible character; she had neither chest nor b*tt. Not to mention that compared to his senior sister, even half-elf Princess Loretta was slightly superior; yet, at this very moment, his heart rate and bl**d flow had quickened—he began to suspect he was a pervert.

Brendel internally cried for mercy, hastily shifting a bit to the side, as certain parts of his body were clearly acting on their own; even though covered by the blanket, a notable bulge had formed—he feared she would notice.

Unexpectedly, at that moment, the young female dragon suddenly turned her head, eyeing him warily, and bared her teeth as she asked, “Are you thinking something inappropriate, perverted human?”

“No,” Brendel replied, staring straight ahead, resolutely. As if joking, he certainly didn’t dare let this terrifying female dragon uncover the truth. Otherwise, she might spit fire at the Merchant Miss, leaving her widowed for life.

“Really?”

The young female dragon smugly chuckled. Suddenly, she flipped over and sat on him. Although she didn’t straddle the key position, Brendel’s expression changed radically. But the more frightening part was that she lowered her head, exhaling gently, biting at the tip of Brendel’s nose and saying softly, “Brendel, you’re a perverted human.”

Brendel suddenly shuddered.

The young female dragon’s warm breath surrounded his senses, carrying a sweet scent that made one’s imagination run wild—even her self-important tone seemed suddenly adorable to him at that moment.

This was definitely problematic.

Brendel vaguely sensed this was some kind of conspiracy, but after all, his body was still that of a normal man, and it was honestly responding. The young female dragon looked down at him with disdain, suddenly grabbing a vital area—Brendel couldn’t help but let out a grunt.

If one examined closely, it would be easy to spot the veins throbbing on his forehead.

“You… you devil.” Brendel finally comprehended that this girl was deliberately toying with him.

“Hmph, a human with a head full of filthy thoughts,” the young female dragon whispered. “You still say you aren’t, yet you’re clearly already turned on.”

“Turned on, my foot!” Brendel was soaked in cold sweat. “What’s that fragrance on you?” He practically ground his teeth to get that question out. He had already figured out where the problem lay.

“The most potent aphrodisiac, a dragon specialty, how about it?”

“How about it, you best not play with fire—ugh!” Before Brendel could finish his sentence, the vital spot faced a heavy blow. Had he not been unable to move, he would have curled up like a shrimp.

The once-adorable young female dragon in his eyes now turned into a little demoness.

“What are you going to do, perverted human?”

Brendel was bathed in cold sweat; he truly couldn’t do anything. Despite her loli appearance, with one hand pressing on her chest, she rendered him completely immobilized.

“Hmph, stealing a kiss in front of your fiancée; feels quite thrilling, doesn’t it?”

Brendel was close to crying with no tears left to shed. He could only watch helplessly as this young female dragon grinned mischievously, revealing her adorable fang-like teeth—like a vampire, her canines were sharp, yet tiny.

Just then, both of them heard a soft cough from outside the door.

It sounded like a bolt from the blue.

Brendel’s cold sweat came pouring down as he turned to see Princess Loretta standing at the door with a pale face, behind her stood a similarly astonished lady-in-waiting.

“How irritating, as a princess, I still have to peek at people mating,” Alorze complained loudly before gracefully hopping off the bed. “What a buzzkill!”

“It’s up to you now, Brendel!”

With that, she flipped her hand, and her entire being vanished from the room.

But Brendel perceived another version of her words—“This is a punishment for giving my Golden Apple to someone else without permission; don’t let it happen again.”

And not let it happen again? Brendel felt that just once was more than enough. He vowed that he never wanted to see this young female dragon a third time in his life; he didn’t even know how this trouble had found him—it all initiated from a mere earring, and he could only cry without tears.

Then he heard a cold voice:

“Sorry to disturb you, Mister Brendel; remember to close the door next time.”

The princess turned and walked away.

(PS: I only managed to type one chapter today, sob, but it has 5800 words! I particularly approve you all consider this as two chapters! I’d like to recommend a fantastic game—it’s a card-based web game called the Summoning of the King on ACFUN. I assume many of you have heard of it, and the game’s quality is decent. The website is: I played for a long time today… or rather, last night! Ahaha… = =.) (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, feel free to vote for it on Qidian (qidian.com).
