Chapter 662: Transmission of the Great威天龙 Symbol
The Black-Clothed Man set his sights on the fleeing group, swinging his sharp dark purple sword, the blade’s aura sweeping over everyone.
With cries of despair ringing out, one by one, people fell into pools of blood, becoming lifeless corpses.
Luo Xiaoxue watched as many individuals collapsed, turning into souls. The squad she had dispatched was being wiped out by the Black-Clothed Man’s sword energy, showing no hesitation in his slaughter.
“This is Ling Jiang, it’s him! How could this happen…”
For Su Niang, seeing her husband should have been a joyous occasion, but her husband was no longer the valiant knight he once was. Now, he was enveloped in Demon Qi, where ghostly flames blazed in his wake, and his longsword dripped with fresh blood, a true murderous fiend.
What had he experienced to become this way?
“Mom, could it really be Dad… he’s no different from a Demon Disciple now…”
“It’s definitely him, there’s no mistake, but I can’t understand what he’s been through to end up like this. I refuse to believe he would choose the path of evil; there must be a reason…”
Based on her understanding of her husband, Su Niang needed to convince herself that he had no choice, that he wasn’t willingly descending into depravity.
As the Black-Clothed Man finished slaughtering the others, the Su family felt a wave of heavy guilt flood over them.
“Ling Jiang, stop killing! They are innocent! Why do you want to murder them? You weren’t like this before! If there’s something, please tell us, we are your family!”
Su Niang called out, her voice breaking as it reached the ears of the Black-Clothed Man.
Unexpectedly, he paused, his mind drifting back to the beautiful memories of life with his wife and daughter.
How could he have changed so much? He had once taught his daughter to stand up for the weak and promote justice, yet now his hands were stained with the blood of innocent people.
He had become the very person he despised.
“That’s just deceiving you; they will become your burdens, and your ambitions will ultimately be hindered by them. Once they are dead, you will sever all ties, and the world will belong to you.”
That heavy voice echoed back in his mind, causing pain to surge within his head.
He hated this voice and wanted to escape it, but it continued to linger, and weirdly, he began to accept its reasoning.
His rationality had slipped away; although these civilians had done him no wrong, he felt a murderous intent, wanting to kill them.
Clutching his head, he struggled against the malevolence, wracked with pain.
Lin Nuo arrived with Luo Xiaoxue, who asked, “Lin Daxia, what’s happened to him?”
“He might be high on drugs, or perhaps he’s having a mental breakdown, or simply going insane. That’s why it’s best not to mess with people like this.”
Lin Nuo felt he needed to lure him away so he wouldn’t get close to Su Kexin and the others again.
“Son-in-law, he is my husband, but I don’t understand why he’s become like this. I believe it’s not his intention. Please, you must save him!” Su Niang cried out, heartbroken. Lin Nuo was their only hope to save their family.
Upon hearing this, Lin Nuo thought to himself that he couldn’t manage that. While he could effortlessly kill, saving someone was another matter entirely.
It wasn’t something even a protagonist could achieve; he was destined for slaying, not for saving families — where was the justice in that?
“Quickly leave, as far as possible, don’t look back.”
Lin Nuo said sternly, positioning himself before them. He couldn’t allow the Black-Clothed Man to breach this line of defense.
The Black-Clothed Man writhed with agony, yet soon he resumed his terrifying demeanor, murderous intent radiating once more.
“This is a recovery state, huh? This madman.”
Lin Nuo tried to keep him occupied, unleashing shadow copies that rushed toward the Black-Clothed Man like a barrage of explosions.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
The sounds of explosions rang out as the Black-Clothed Man endured the onslaught of Lin Nuo’s shadow creations.
The bombardment momentarily slowed his advance but didn’t inflict any fatal injuries.
The explosions still weren’t quite enough.
“Damn it, not enough talismans.”
These talismans only had a few uses before failing; halting now gave the Black-Clothed Man a chance to catch his breath.
He charged towards Lin Nuo, his Demon Hand striking with lightning speed, but Lin Nuo was nimble enough to evade.
With one strike, he left a deep ravine in the ground.
“Running out of talismans is troublesome.”
As Lin Nuo considered his next move, the Black-Clothed Man directly lunged to attack Su Kexin and the others.
Holy crap, he’s playing with fire!
Lin Nuo couldn’t allow him to pass. He pulled out his mechanism device, which had a locking-on feature. A continuous stream of mechanisms shot out from it.
Then he tossed a few smoke bombs, the smoke spreading and obscuring everything in sight.
This combination temporarily blocked him, and the device fired off like a machine gun, triggering explosions upon impact.
“Lin Daxia, if your talismans are broken, you can use mine. This is the one you gave me before.”
Luo Xiaoxue pulled out the charm she had been keeping and handed it to Lin Nuo.
“Stop fooling around, that charm is useless. Hm?”
Lin Nuo glanced over, and to his surprise, the Dao Fu that Luo Yi had given him was reactivated.
Not just reactivated; it seemed imbued with new power.
Holding it, he saw it glimmering with golden light, a surge of energy flowing through.
“Are you sure this is the one I gave you?”
“Absolutely, it’s that one. I’ve kept it safe, and it has saved me numerous times already. If you need it, go ahead and use it.”
“You need to get as far away as you can.”
Lin Nuo thought it odd that this talisman had gained power; could it be that it had absorbed the Great威天龙’s essence?
Guess it really is true that items grow fond with time, or perhaps the talisman learned a new skill?
No matter, he stuck it on his right arm.
Golden radiance sparkled, akin to a disciple of an immortal with a true master — all that was missing was a strongman’s bald head.
With all his traps spent, the Black-Clothed Man dispersed the thick smoke, swinging his longsword down at the Su family.
Su Kexin was tense, knowing she had to block this sword, even if it meant sacrificing her body. Her family was right behind her.
But Lin Nuo arrived just in time, launching a golden fist that sent the Black-Clothed Man sprawling backward several paces.
This talisman was fierce, far stronger than the inferior version he had crafted before.
Learning-type Dao Fu seemed to be a great idea.
“Shish, Senior Brother…”
“Forget the titles, just run!”
Lin Nuo seamlessly moved in, his newly empowered Dao Fu channeling the Great威天龙, coupled with his own speed, would surely close the distance and pin him down.
The two fought with intensity, back and forth, their speeds soaring, golden and purple lights entwining, dazzling everyone present.
Meanwhile, the voice in the Black-Clothed Man’s mind had stopped goading him, now mocking instead:
Who is this kid?
