An icy silence came over the room.
The Lumeran students looked at Leo with puzzled expressions, while the Seirun students glared at him with hardened faces.
“Interpretation… was wrong? What do you mean by that, Leo Flove student?”
Herdium asked with a smile, though coldness lingered in his gaze.
Leo, scratching his cheek upon observing this demeanor, responded.
“That magic wouldn’t activate.”
“Of course not. This is an incomplete magic, so it wouldn’t activate regardless.”
“Huh?”
Leo was taken aback.
He also realized the unfriendly gazes from the Seirun students, including Herdium.
‘What does a guy who specializes in Auras and Summonings know about magic anyway?’
Lunia also looked at Leo as if finding the situation absurd.
“Haha! Just because he uses magic similar to the Magic of the Stars, he’s getting cocky! This magic is an undeciphered relic of our ancestors. Countless elven wizards have tried to restore it to its current form, and yet he claims it’s wrong?”
An elf male student, who had been previously scolded by Leo, shouted angrily.
‘Ah… Was this magic lost?’
Leo realized his mistake and nervously smiled, somewhat embarrassed.
Meanwhile, Lunia was startled by what the male student had said.
‘Wait? Magic? But I’m sure Leo used Auras and Spirit Powers, didn’t he?’
“Student Leo seems well-versed in the Magic of the Stars. Fascinating. It would be quite interesting to see how this magic appears through a human’s eyes.”
Herdium extended a piece of chalk with a cold voice, adding,
“If our elves’ interpretation is incorrect, would you show us yours?”
‘Ah… I can’t really not show it now.’
Leo hadn’t thought the basic magic of the Stars hadn’t yet been interpreted by them.
‘Ah. Maybe they wouldn’t understand. This magic was created after the Magic of the Stars was established by Luna.’
Even though the current elves use the Magic of the Stars, its foundation differs from what Luna had once utilized.
That is because the essence of the Magic of the Stars was fully transmitted not to the elves, but to Kyle.
‘And I died before passing that essence on to another elf.’
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say the true essence of the Magic of the Stars ended with Kyle.
What the elves currently employ is merely a reconstruction based on the magical formulae remembered by Berkiya, Luna’s disciple, and the magical books left by Luna herself.
‘It’s quite impressive they could implement something from incomplete data.’
Therefore, it wasn’t strange for Leo to not know a magic classified as basic by the standard of Luna and Kyle but considered a lost spell by the elves.
Leo, berating himself for the mistake, stood up and approached the blackboard.
Meanwhile, the Lumeran students were shocked.
“Aah! Why did Brother Leo do that!”
“Our representative getting embarrassed would be a disaster!”
“Yikes! Professor Halind is sending lasers from his eyes!”
Even Halind, who had been observing from behind, directed a fierce gaze at Leo.
Leo’s actions, viewed as extremely rude, drew harsh reactions.
The students from the 5th class gripped their heads, groaning, while the Seirun students glared at Leo, eager to see how well he’d perform.
Standing with his arms crossed, Herdium watched as Leo began explaining his interpretation.
The sound of chalk echoed quietly.
Thud!
As Leo filled in the missing parts of the broken spell, it was natural that elements of star magic not passed down to the elves were utilized.
“What’s his interpretation?”
“It looks somewhat like star magic, but it’s a formula I’ve never seen before…”
“It’s completely bizarre!”
The Seirun students wore confused expressions watching Leo’s explanation.
Even Luna, known for her superior magical abilities, appeared bewildered.
“Does something like that even exist?”
Among the Seirun students, none really appreciated how significant the spell Leo was writing on the board was.
Instead, as the magical formula became increasingly complex, their heads began to spin.
Only Herdium trembled while gazing at the board.
Thud!
Eventually, Leo put down the chalk and stepped back.
“Done.”
Halind looked at Leo, arms crossed.
Since Halind wasn’t very familiar with the Magic of the Stars, he couldn’t evaluate Leo’s spell.
When Halind shifted his gaze from Leo to Herdium, he was surprised.
Herdium’s body was trembling.
For thousands of years, countless elven wizards had tried in vain to interpret this spell of their ancestors.
Because of this, the magic had always been considered incomplete.
And Herdium, who had devoted his life to studying this spell, completely understood Leo’s technique.
So he understood it all.
‘The magic has been perfectly deciphered!’
*
“Leo Flove student, how exactly did you accomplish that?”
Herdium brought Leo and Halind into a small room adjacent to the grand banquet hall and immediately asked.
Even Halind was looking at Leo with a surprised expression.
Leo hesitated for a moment, considering what to say.
‘Telling them I simply interpreted it would probably be the best option.’
Speaking about being Kyle or learning magic directly from Luna would neither be believed nor wise.
“I’m deeply interested in the Magic of the Stars and have researched it thoroughly. Consequently, I’ve been studying this magic for a while.”
“This isn’t the kind of magic that can be interpreted simply by having an interest in star magic.”
Herdium sharply questioned while readjusting his glasses.
It was Halind who answered this question.
“Leo Flove isn’t merely a student well-versed in star magic.”
“Then what?”
“This student is actually a practitioner of star magic.”
Herdium’s eyes widened in astonishment upon hearing Halind’s words.
“Practicing star magic? A human? Oh, wait… While it’s not impossible for humans or other races to use it… surely not at this age?”
The system of star magic was created by Luna.
Over time, it was tailored to fit the elves, making it difficult for other races to use compared to other magical systems.
Even when usable, it required a high level of mana proficiency, making it difficult to use at a young age, with reduced effectiveness if attempted.
‘So, this student, at the tender age of fifteen, can use star magic with a human body?’
“But even though you’re a user of star magic, the fact that you could interpret this… Please, could you explain how you did it?”
In response to Herdium’s question, Leo began writing down the method of interpretation on a sheet of paper.
As Herdium watched Leo’s explanation, his eyes grew more and more shocked.
‘Perhaps if our ancestor had interpreted it, the result would have been something like this?’
Leo’s interpretation was natural and perfect to the extent that Herdium even thought this.
When Leo finally finished, Herdium, clutching the explanation, trembled.
“Leo Flove student… this magic… Do you know what it actually is? Have you ever used it before?”
“Although I haven’t used it personally…”
Leo scratched his cheek and continued.
“It’s a spell to make flowers bloom.”
“Flowers?”
Halind and Herdium looked puzzled.
“Yes.”
“Truly surprising… Who would’ve thought such a spell, from which many elemental magics derive, was simply about blossoms.”
As Herdium muttered incredulously at the whimsy of their ancestor, Leo cast the magic.
A gentle light bloomed from Leo’s palm, and soon enough, a flower had blossomed in his hand.
“Simply a flower-making spell? Back in the Era of Catastrophe, flowers were nearly extinct.”
Herdium observed the flower in Leo’s hand.
“To make a flower bloom, one needs fire, wind, water, earth, and light.”
Leo glanced at the flower in his hand and smiled faintly.
“Perhaps flowers weren’t something particularly special to the founders of the constellations?”
‘I see it! I see it! Kyle! Finally, the magic to make flowers bloom is complete!’
‘Why would you create such magic?’
‘Why flowers? Aren’t they beautiful? Someday, I’d like to restore this world to one full of flowers. Would you like to learn?’
‘I don’t need it.’
Leo reminisced about the past upon seeing the flower in his hand.
Though he was forced to learn under Luna’s insistence, it wasn’t something he needed much.
“Turns out, I’ll use it in this reincarnation.”
The bloom of this flower carried the very essence of all the magic he had built.
‘If the elves ever knew Luna created the Magic of the Stars solely to perfect this flower-making spell, what expression would they wear?’
As Leo recollected Luna’s radiant smile in the past, Herdium interpreted the spell differently.
“Indeed! Perhaps there is a deep meaning in this magic, tied to Lady Luna’s love for nature.”
“Not really. That girl simply liked flowers.”
Leo shook his head at Herdium’s arbitrary interpretation.
“Nevertheless, Leo student. Professor Halind and I need to discuss something for a moment. Would you please continue your study like the other students?”
“Yes.”
‘No big issues, everything went smoothly.’
Relieved inside, Leo left the room.
“Our student was quite rude. Please forgive us.”
“Not at all. Professor Halind! On the contrary, we are grateful! If this magic, originally thought incomplete by our ancestors, was actually so complete… it’s a monumental discovery!”
Watching the purely joyful Herdium, Halind gave a wry smile.
“So, allow me to ask a question…”
“…”
“By any chance, does Leo Flove student… have any elven ancestry?”
“We don’t really focus much on our ancestors in Lumeran, so I’m unsure about that.”
“I see.”
“Why do you ask?”
“Considering that Leo Flove is the representative of Lumeran’s first year, I may be overstepping my bounds…”
“…”
“Would you consider transferring Leo Flove to our school?”
“…”
Upon hearing the unprecedented transfer proposal, Halind could only stare at Herdium with a baffled expression.
