Chapter 67: Yake Seems to Be Itching
“Let’s just note these two points for now. When you, my foolish older brother, can master these two to perfection, I’ll teach you other key things.”
For Yake right now, the priority was to boost his almost nonexistent emotional intelligence; at least he should learn to speak appropriately for the occasion.
“Okay. Thank you, Xier, for your guidance. I’ll work hard to improve myself and won’t let you down.”
Seeing that Xier’s teaching had come to a pause, Yake tucked the little booklet back into his clothes.
“Hoping so.”
Xier sighed, knowing her older brother pretty well. True, his emotional intelligence was low, but he was indeed a good-natured guy.
“Well, big brother, if you’re done here, you can leave. I’ll continue reading.”
After all, Yake belonged to the type who couldn’t concentrate on books, so keeping him around was just torturing him. Xier urged Yake to hurry off.
“Alright then. I’ll be leaving. Xier, if you need anything, make sure to find me in the shopping street. I’m going to find Mom and the others.”
“Yeah, yeah, I got it.”
Xier waved him off impatiently, telling him to leave quickly. Yake departed the bookstore, heading to the shopping street to find Aier and the others.
“Ah… I can’t take it anymore, Reina. I’m about out of energy. I need to take a break.”
Aierjisi leaned against the wall of a roadside shop, having been forced to play dress-up earlier, which drained most of her stamina, and now she was hardly able to move.
“Hm… Alright, there’s a coffee shop over there. Let’s go rest there for a bit.”
Seeing Aier panting, Reina couldn’t bear to make her push through any longer. She pointed to the café across the street.
“Okay, okay, as long as we can rest.”
Aierjisi had no objections and sat outside with Reina at the café’s setup.
“Little Aier, do you want to eat something?”
“What’s there to eat? Ah, no, I’d rather have something to drink right now.”
Since being kicked out by Aisi-sensei, Aierjisi hadn’t had a drop of water, and her throat felt like it was on fire. If it weren’t for the Blood Clan’s strong drought resistance, she’d have been desperate for water by now.
“Something to drink? How about a cup of coffee?”
“Sure, as long as it’s drinkable, I’m game. I’m about to drop.”
Aierjisi slumped on the table, disheartened. Water, please, I need water.
“Alright then, one second. So, could we get two iced drip coffees? Oh, Little Aier, do you want any sweets? Like donuts or honey cake?”
“Sweets? I want! Both donuts and honey cake!”
Upon hearing there were sweet treats, Aierjisi instantly perked up. Desserts are the best! She had loved sweets since she was little; not only were they delicious, but their high sugar content could be converted into magic power for the Blood Clan, even if the magical yield was laughably small, barely more than that of an intermediate magical beast.
“Alright then. So, we’d like two iced drip coffees, one donut, and two honey cakes, please. Thank you.”
“Understood, please wait a moment.”
The waiter noted their order and went back into the café. A short while later, they brought out the coffees and desserts they ordered.
“So bitter, but icy cold, refreshing too.”
Aierjisi couldn’t wait to take a sip of her coffee; the next second, she nearly choked on the bitter flavor.
“Ah… if it’s bitter, you can always add some sugar. Here, try this now.”
Reina calmly opened the sugar jar on the table and scooped a spoonful of sugar into Aierjisi’s coffee.
“Mm, this tastes much better, sweet but not too cloying. Just as expected from Reina!”
After trying the coffee with sugar, Aierjisi found it significantly improved. She gave Reina a thumbs up in approval.
【But seriously, this game world is so realistic! Not only is the sense of taste and touch so vivid, but even the NPCs in the storyline are so smart. It’s just like talking to real people!】
Sipping her coffee, Aierjisi glanced around; as far as games go, the setup was quite impressive. If she didn’t know she entered this game world via a program, she’d totally think she had landed in a genuine different world.
“But, Aier, if the coffee is sweet, can you still eat the donut and honey cake?”
“Why not? Don’t underestimate me! After all, I’m a 1100-year-old little princess with rich experiences!”
Hearing Reina’s words, Aierjisi felt a bit offended—as if she were being underestimated. Seriously? Just drinking sweet coffee and eating cake? What’s wrong with that? So Aierjisi picked up the donut and took a bite.
As it turned out… Reina was right. After just a few bites, Aierjisi couldn’t continue. The combination of sweet coffee and donut was a bit too much for her. Even if her body could handle that much sugar, her tongue had its limits!
“Just as I thought. Little Aier, do you know why coffee is bitter? Besides waking you up, it’s also meant to complement sweets when eaten together!”
Reina smiled, casually enjoying her coffee while munching on the honey cake. The bitterness of the coffee blended with the sweetness of the cake was a strange but preferable combination over being too sweet.
“Ugh… please, another cup of iced drip coffee.”
Aierjisi raised her hand to request another coffee. This cup with sugar wouldn’t go well with the sweet donut.
“Got it, please wait a moment.”
The waiter hurried back inside to prepare the little princess’s second cup of coffee.
“Oh, Aier, Mom! You two are having afternoon tea here? There’s an extra piece of honey cake, and I’m a bit hungry too, so I won’t hold back.”
Just then, Yake walked into the café, spotting them enjoying their afternoon tea. He greeted them, noticed the untouched honey cake on the table, and without a second thought, picked it up and swallowed it whole since he was feeling a bit hungry.
“Ah… my cake…”
Seeing her beloved honey cake being gulped down by Yake, Aierjisi’s body quivered slightly.
Now this is that… what was it called? The character usually found in games, right? The one who always gets into trouble?
