Chapter 68
“Alright, alright, you two stop arguing already.”
Yake quickly intervened to halt their bickering. How can they be quarrelling over something like this when they’ve already signed a contract?
Aierjisi fell silent, quietly sipping her juice on the side. Yaser also remained quiet. The atmosphere became exceptionally awkward.
“Um… you two, this cold war isn’t good, you know? It’s better to just make up as soon as possible…”
This was the first time Yaser had witnessed such a situation; he and the young lady had never encountered anything like this before. To be honest, he wouldn’t dare get into this kind of mess with the young lady because she’d surely incinerate him to ashes with her blazing flames.
“It’s fine, it’ll be over soon anyway.”
Yake didn’t take it to heart. Given the little princess’s personality, she would likely come back to apologize before long. After all, she was the one in the wrong.
“Is that so? If you can make up, that’d be fantastic. I won’t have to worry about you two anymore.”
Although he was somewhat anxious about whether these two could actually reconcile, it seemed like it wasn’t really his concern.
“By the way, Mr. Yaser, are you still staying at the inn?”
“Yes, why?”
“Well… I was just thinking, if it’s alright, why don’t you all move to the royal palace? The conditions there should be better than the inn. Plus, we’re companions, right? If we live together, we can look after each other.”
Yake thought it was pretty straightforward; as long as Phoenix and Yaser were willing, they could move into the royal palace anytime. It would also give the little princess someone to talk to, which would help prevent her from complaining about being bored and yearning for her phone and computer.
“Well… that could work. But since I’m just the young lady’s attendant, whether we move to the palace or not depends on her decision.”
Yaser found this to be a good idea; living in the royal palace could save them quite a bit on lodging costs. Staying at the inn cost them two silver coins a day, which was draining his wallet. Although he and the young lady had spent a total of 24 silver coins, which was still manageable, she had made quite a lot of gold coins from her previous efforts with the little princess.
“Alright then, let’s meet at that tavern tomorrow. I’ll be waiting for your answer.”
Yake understood Yaser’s situation; an attendant couldn’t make decisions freely and had to wait for their master’s choice.
“Sure, then I’ll look for you at the tavern tomorrow. It’s getting late; the young lady should be waking up soon. If there’s nothing more, I’ll head back now.”
Yaser checked the time and noted that he’d already been away from the inn for about two hours. The young lady should be awake by now, and he couldn’t remain out any longer.
“Alright, see you tomorrow.”
After scheduling their meeting time, Yake watched Yaser leave the restaurant.
“Aier, even though I’m your servant, I shouldn’t really say this, but you should really watch your mouth. Look at what you just said; you made me look so foolish!”
As soon as Yaser left, Yake turned to Aierjisi and began scolding her. Even though he was her servant, he was still a proud adventurer. After having been insulted by Aierjisi, he had endured it silently.
“Oh, got it. I won’t say such things again.”
Aierjisi realized how out of line she had been earlier; she shouldn’t have said those things. Despite understanding this, she just couldn’t control her mouth; she instinctively let those words slip out.
“Well, as long as you admit your mistake, that’s good enough. Now, as a reward, boss, another glass of apple juice for me!”
Aierjisi’s prompt apology was within Yake’s expectations; after all, she was just a little girl, and admitting mistakes came easy for her. As the adult, he figured he should reward her a bit for it.
“Here, this cup of juice is your reward. Just remember, you absolutely mustn’t say such things again, got it?”
“Got it. How dare a servant lecture their master? You’re truly an unconventional one. All my other servants were so respectful; you’re the first to talk back.”
“It’s precisely because I’m your servant that I point out your flaws. I hope you can correct them, or else you’ll face difficulties in the future.”
“I know, but some habits aren’t easy to change.”
“That’s alright; we still have plenty of time. You can take your time correcting those bad habits from being a princess.”
“How troublesome.”
“Where’s the trouble in that?”
“Everywhere, it’s very troublesome.”
Aierjisi and Yake resumed their daily bickering. Watching them was enough to make the boss shake his head—truly a father and daughter, their tempers were so similar. Probably, they were father and daughter?
“Young lady, are you awake? I brought some food back for you. Still sleeping?”
Meanwhile, Yaser was on his way back to the inn, not forgetting to pick up some grilled skewers for Weirafiya. The young lady had a mysterious fondness for these specialty grilled meats. Yaser enjoyed them too; they always exuded an irresistible aroma.
However, it seemed Weirafiya hadn’t risen yet. Was she still asleep from drinking too much last night? That shouldn’t be; a little beer was nothing for her, a purebred Phoenix—there’s no way she could sleep for so long.
“Yaser! Where the heck have you been? Disappearing without a word! Do you think bringing me food will earn my forgiveness?!”
Just as Yaser placed the skewers on the nightstand, Weirafiya suddenly leaped up from the bed, straddling his neck and tugging on his ears.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, young lady! Didn’t I tell you I found a really interesting place? I wanted you to come with me, but you were still asleep and sent me away. Ouch, that hurts!”
With her tugging on his ears, Yaser, an ordinary guy, was finding it hard to endure. His ears felt as if they were about to be pulled off!
