Inside a shield.
Three Sages gathered together with the shattered remains of the Demon Ancestor.
“Wow, that’s tougher than what I shattered back in the day,” the Invincible Sword Saint spat out blood, glancing at the miserable state of the Demon Ancestor, unable to hold back his astonishment.
“Can we save him?” asked the Crimson Dust Saint.
The Great Sage of the Nine Heavens gave a quick look and, confirming with a glance, concluded that this guy was beyond saving.
“I can’t do anything,” the Great Sage of the Nine Heavens said.
The Invincible Sword Saint shrugged, “Not like I’m the Saint of Eternal Life. If he were around, he’d probably manage to revive him.”
But it was clear that the Saint of Eternal Life wasn’t coming back.
“Well, there’s nothing to be done. Rest in peace,” the Crimson Dust Saint said to the Demon Ancestor.
The Demon Ancestor…
What could he do?
He was just as desperate!
If he had known earlier that things would turn out this way, he would’ve swallowed his pride and gone to apologize to Lu Ye.
A bit of regret lingered.
But hey, he was killed by a Sage, and at least he fought alongside the Sages.
Sigh… He still couldn’t become a Sage in the end!
With his last bit of strength, the Demon Ancestor sighed.
Life force completely dissipated.
The Great Sage of the Nine Heavens waved a hand, and the Demon Ancestor’s figure vanished entirely as he muttered words of incantation, performing a rite of passage.
He had known the Demon Ancestor. When he ascended, the Demon was a burning flame in the world, a force to be reckoned with.
Later, as he rose to unmatched power, the Demon had already fled, so there was never a reckoning for him.
Now, dying in battle was somewhat of a fitting end.
“You two, regain your powers!”
No time to reminisce.
The three Sages immediately began to restore their strength.
…
“Boom!”
A massive rumbling echoed throughout the heavens and earth.
All living beings looked up, feeling the tremors in the cosmos, their faces filled with fear.
What’s happening?
What’s going on?
Lu Ye’s voice rang out.
“Don’t panic! There are extraterrestrial pseudo-gods attacking the barriers of heaven and earth. They must be getting desperate. The Great Sage of the Nine Heavens and the Invincible Sword Saint are likely just taking a breather; they won’t be able to break through the barriers,” Lu Ye reassured everyone.
His words calmed the crowd.
Now all living creatures in the world were frantically cultivating.
The fall of the Celestial Lord caused the spiritual energy within the world to surge explosively; if they didn’t cultivate now, when would they?
Great Emperors were also being born.
The batch of Quasi-Emperors taught by Lu Ye had already seen many breakthroughs over time.
Some succeeded, others failed.
As long as there was hope, no one would be willing to give up on the chance of becoming an emperor.
It was a chance to become an emperor!
The allure of that was far greater than that of any prince aspiring to rule.
Besides the continuous booming sounds, nothing else stirred up a stir for the time being.
“System, how impactful are these bombardments?” Lu Ye asked while he cultivated.
“Ding! For now, there won’t be any particularly significant effects, but if this bombardment continues, at most for ten days, the barriers will show cracks again, and within a month, they’ll break,” the System replied.
“In this battle, the Great Sage of the Nine Heavens and the Invincible Sword Saint have come out fine, right? Oh, and what about the Crimson Dust Saint?”
“Ding! They’re injured, but they’re all right.”
Lu Ye breathed a sigh of relief.
Since the Great Sage of the Nine Heavens confidently withdrew, he must have known that even if bombarded, everything was under control, so he didn’t need to worry too much.
As long as the inside didn’t collapse, Lu Ye had faith that the Great Sage of the Nine Heavens could handle the outside.
Seriously, that combination was unstoppable!
Among so many Sages, it wasn’t just because the Great Sage of the Nine Heavens was the most renowned being of the current era.
The Invincible Sword Saint might be far removed from the current times, but his reputation remained huge.
Bigger than the Demon Sage or the Compassionless Sage, without a doubt.
It was merely because he was undeniably powerful.
Actually, there had only been so many Sages throughout this realm’s existence.
Two unknown ones, one Infinite Celestial Lord, followed by the Devouring Demon Sage, the Ni Luan Sage (Great Sage), the Crimson Dust Saint, the Saint of Eternal Life, the Compassionless Sage, the Demon Sage, and the Great Sage of the Nine Heavens.
A total of ten, whose legacies spanned the entire history of cultivation since life began.
The Infinite Celestial Lord paved the way for cultivation, and at the Celestial Lord Realm, he was the first to delineate the realms of heaven and earth, spreading the Dao throughout the world. Thus, the Infinite Celestial Lord became a household name among cultivators, a homage to him.
Because the time since the era of the Infinite Celestial Lord was so long, today’s practitioners had even derived special titles.
That is, “Infinite Celestial Whatever.”
The current people really didn’t know what to call the other two unknown Sages.
Let alone those two unknown Sages; even the Devouring Demon Sage had only vague recognition as the Devouring Divine Prefect, but what exactly he did was just too long ago to recall.
While Lu Ye cultivated, he kept an eye on the true and false troublemakers.
After reaching the Celestial Lord Realm, the cultivation speed at that level was incredibly slow. But for Lu Ye, it wasn’t too bad, as the world within him was developing at a rapid pace, propelling his cultivation at high speed.
Now that the battle had ceased,
both the deities of the Derived World and the Primordial Saints were momentarily at rest.
Whenever they had a moment to spare, they would undoubtedly seek to resolve this issue, with their own demise being an unavoidable problem.
As long as they perished,
they wouldn’t need to deal with anything else; just threatening with the Forbidden Land made the Great Sage of the Nine Heavens and the others suffer continuous assaults.
But what could they do?
Lu Ye was also curious.
The deities clearly couldn’t enter; if the deities of the Derived World could come in, the Primordial World would have been done for ages ago.
As long as the deities couldn’t enter, any Celestial Lord-level opponents would die in droves!
Still, calling them deities sounded better; otherwise, referring to those pseudo-Sages from the Derived World as Sages always felt off to Lu Ye.
If Lu Ye couldn’t think of a solution, could the deities beyond the realm come up with anything?
Beyond the heavens.
In the Derived World.
A majestic palace floated above the three thousand Derived Worlds, symbolizing supreme authority.
This was the Primordial Saint Palace, rumored to be the birthplace of the Dao, the source of all cultivation methods for practitioners of the Derived World, all trace back to the Primordial Saint Palace.
Even those who fused with the essence of the world to become deities had to obey the Primordial Saint’s commands.
After all, the Primordial Saint’s power was formidable.
Right now, one batch of deities was searching for the Great Sage of the Nine Heavens and the others, while another was attacking the barriers of the Primordial World.
The remaining deities, along with the top scholars of the Derived World, were gathered here.
The Primordial Saint sat at one of the three highest positions, watching the crowd.
“Let’s hear it. How do we deal with the one called Nine Lives?” the Primordial Saint inquired.
With that question, the crowd fell silent.
How to deal with it?
If there were any good ideas, would they be discussing it here?
