Chapter 070: Dekan’s Infiltration Plan
Aurora’s expression became extremely complicated.
Even though Dekan had extended an olive branch to her.
It may as well have been offered from hell itself……
The tenets of the Happy Church sounded far more unsettling than those of the Rebirth Church.
At least the Rebirth Church was more sincere.
Dekan snapped his fingers, and soon Cornelia unlocked Aurora’s handcuffs and handed her a warm cup of fruit tea.
“Miss Aurora, you may take your time to think. You can voice any concerns you have freely. After all, I am genuinely sincere in wanting you to become part of our organization.”
“Based on your testimony, you never truly believed in the doctrines of the Rebirth Church, nor have you committed any unforgivable sins.”
“So, I wish to give you the chance to redeem yourself.”
Dekan’s tone became noticeably more polite, making Aurora feel uneasy all over.
She didn’t dare to touch the tea.
Don’t be deceived by Dekan’s current gentleness.
If he changes his mind, no one knows how cruel he might become.
“What kind of restrictions… or costs will I face if I join you?”
Aurora seemed to have mustered her courage, tightly clenching her fists as she timidly asked.
“There are no restrictions. You’ll receive a base salary, and you’ll be rewarded for completing missions.”
“For example, I can personally create a card for you. Once you’ve accumulated enough contributions, it might even be possible for our Pope, my teacher, to create a card for you.”
“Moreover, we have strict standards for overtime pay and pensions, and we will never mistreat any member. Specifically…”
Dekan’s words made Aurora’s eyelashes flutter slightly.
Is this really a cult?
It’s so formal!
It’s practically a conscientious business!
There’s even a top-tier cardmaker in residence…
Even more frightening, what level of existence must the “Pope” who trained Dekan be?
Her breathing gradually became a little rushed, she shook her head, and dared not continue thinking.
Even if it wasn’t done forcibly, the treatment was enough to make her heart flutter.
“Would the missions be dangerous?”
Aurora asked again.
Although sitting in jail was several times safer than being associated with these three people.
Still, she didn’t know why.
She felt this might be an opportunity she couldn’t even imagine – a chance to escape the Rebirth Church.
After all, many Rebirth Church followers joined against their will when they were weak.
Even when they grew stronger, they dared not dream of leaving this organization.
The outcome for traitors of the Rebirth Church was almost always bleak.
Unless one could find a powerful organization for protection.
“Our missions will be much safer than what you’ve done for the Rebirth Church. After all, we are a charity organization with a slight profit motive. Priority will always be given to your safety.”
Dekan said with a smile, his voice gentle like a breeze brushing across the earth.
A moment of interrogation had turned into a job interview.
Aurora fell silent for a moment and finally dared to meet Dekan’s eyes.
Her eyes had gained a bit more brightness.
But it seemed she still had a trace of hesitation.
She feared becoming a pawn that these three could discard at will.
But Dekan noticed her thoughts and looked at her earnestly, saying:
“Your life will be a precious asset to our church. I swear to you, as long as you don’t betray us, you will always be under our protection.”
Just not being targeted by these three alone gave Aurora a great sense of relief.
And with their protection.
It was as if the darkness of the entire world would become her strength.
“…I’ll join you.”
Aurora finally decided, her eyes carrying a hint of firmness and decisiveness as she said these words.
Dekan’s face was full of smiles, a smile that looked as benevolent as a deity watching over his believer.
“Welcome to join our [Happy Church], we are dedicated to creating happiness with heart. We hope you are happy every day.”
High Priest Dekan, Judgement Knight Cornelia, and Interrogator Chloix took turns shaking Aurora’s hand, offering her the most sincere blessings.
She was overwhelmed.
Had she just gone from hell straight to the Ministry of Hell Affairs?
“Aurora: May I ask, is there any form of identification that represents the identity of believers?”
Dekan: “Due to your highly confidential identity, for now, you’ll only maintain contact with me. Carrying a token might increase the risk of you being exposed. If there’s a need for collaboration with other members, I’ll prepare the token in advance.”
Then Dekan explained the contact rules to her.
Typically, they would exchange information by posting lost-and-found notices in newspapers.
Currently, Dekan is undergoing the special review in the Cardmaker Association, so it’s not advisable for him to have any involvement with the Rebirth Church.
Dekan’s current strategy is to distance himself first and then infiltrate.
Once the special review is over, Dekan will begin the next step — assisting Aurora to infiltrate the upper echelons of the Rebirth Church.
The goal is to initially infiltrate the Rebirth Church within a year, achieve the high-level replacement plan within three years, and annihilate the Rebirth Church within five years.
In the meantime, Aurora must continue to play her role within the Rebirth Church.
Since the Rebirth Church’s ‘test and attempt to recruit Dekan’ is a long-term plan, Aurora doesn’t need to make huge moves in the short term.
She simply needs to gradually build up, creating an image of strategizing and planning.
“Do you have any other orders at the moment?”
“None, you may leave.”
Dekan’s casual reply further confirmed Aurora’s understanding —
If they could capture her once, they could naturally capture her again.
And next time, there won’t be any talk at all.
This made her respect for Dekan deepen even more.
To think positively, Dekan didn’t assign her any difficult tasks but would help her work smoothly in the Rebirth Church.
Plus, anything she gains from the Rebirth Church doesn’t need to be surrendered, but she’ll also get a salary and rewards!
How generous this was.
Such an organization is truly the righteous side.
“You can rest assured, this is your first step towards leaving the dark side.”
Dekan patted her shoulder, behaving just like a veteran chief with years of experience.
“I understand, Master Dekan.”
Aurora bowed to Dekan with respect.
…
“Finally, that’s all done.”
The three walked on the streets of the Capital City at dawn.
All looking somewhat tired.
The current organization has just started, but they still have to work hard to become a significant force.
Suddenly, Chloix thought of something and asked Dekan,
“But Dekan, what if Aurora betrays us? And what if the Happy Church is actually labeled as a cult?”
Dekan: “What are you talking about? Have we ever met her? And what’s ‘Happy Church’?”
“!”
Chloix immediately understood.
There is no evidence or testimony against Aurora.
The three of them are spotless.
“Phew, we won’t even have time to sleep for long now.”
Dekan yawned.
“Why don’t we check out the Capital City at 4 AM? There’s a pretty good place open right now; we can go and treat it as breakfast.”
Chloix took out a map of the Capital City’s culinary spots, inviting Dekan and Cornelia to take a closer look.
De: “We can buy some good food to take with us, go to the top floor of the Capital City Clock Tower to watch the sunrise, and then return to school for class.”
Ch: “Good idea.”
Co: “Let’s go.”
