Chapter 713: They Actually Got Married?
The vast spirit platform resembled a unified wall, grand in momentum, with many spirit masters already stepping onto it to check the condition of the platform. For now, everything seemed alright, with no major issues.
A lot of people were milling around the venue, from noble families to practitioners of the Dao, all coming to witness this grand event for the Qin family.
Of course, some nobles hadn’t shown up, as some were busy with self-preservation—who had time to come here?
Meanwhile, Han Fairy and Liu Shuqin arrived at the scene, initially engaging in some superficial courtesy, greeting various nobles and sect members with beaming smiles, each harboring their own thoughts inside.
Both Han Fairy and Liu Shuqin were searching for members of the Qin family, hoping to inquire about Qin Shili’s whereabouts.
And they bumped into Qin Zhu.
“Lord Qin, long time no see. It’s truly joyous to see the spirit platform completed today.”
“Fairy Han is being too courteous. As Shili’s mentor, you must come with me to the Qin estate. I, Qin, will entertain you well.”
“There’s no need for such formality, Lord Qin. Recently, there’s been no news of Shili. I wonder if she has returned to the Qin family.”
“Shili? She’s back, and she’s even brought her husband!” Qin Zhu stated.
“Her husband? Shili got married? That’s quite sudden; I should’ve paid more attention to her affairs.”
“Not officially married, more like a private engagement, waiting for a formal banquet later. According to her, they’ve privately become a couple. I thought Fairy Han would know about this.”
Qin Zhu added, and naturally, both Han Fairy and Liu Shuqin were surprised. No one expected her to marry someone else. With her aloof demeanor, it was hard to envision her leaning towards love.
So, who was her husband? That was truly intriguing.
“Do you know who her husband is?”
Just as Han Fairy finished speaking, Qin Shili appeared with Lin Nuo, linking arms with him intimately, a sight that left both Qin Shili and Liu Shuqin in shock.
The impact was staggering, rippling through them for a century. As for Qin Zhu’s mention of Qin Shili’s marital partner, they had begun to piece it together.
“Since they’re here, I won’t introduce him further; you all know him—Lin Nuo. Although I also thought it was quite sudden back then, Lin Nuo is quite the talent. I have no objections.”
Qin Zhu smiled, feeling genuinely happy for his daughter as a father ought to, at least she had someone to rely on and someone she cared for.
Things were quite awkward among the few of them.
Han Fairy and Liu Shuqin felt like the world had changed dramatically.
Qin Shili and Lin Nuo were married? This was too sudden!
Lin Nuo was also worried, thinking, why are they here?
With that old witch causing chaos everywhere, shouldn’t they be out saving the world instead of showing up here?
“Shili, it’s been a while. Seeing you again truly surprises me. Your relationship with Lin Nuo has developed too rapidly; it’s something I didn’t expect.”
“Master, it really is a bit sudden, but we are in love, and we can’t control that. We will hold a banquet in the future, and I hope you can grace us with your presence,” Qin Shili calmly replied, still keeping her arm linked with Lin Nuo without letting go.
“Well then, Shili, you two chat. I need to attend to other guests,” said Qin Zhu as he left the scene to entertain other distinguished guests. At events like this, he was always busy.
Liu Shuqin hesitated, her heart feeling like it was being sliced, unsure of what to say.
She had already been affected by Su Kexin marrying, and now, this was another blow, especially with Qin Shili, whom she felt was the most complicated.
It was truly a torturous process, but she had come to realize she could only endure it.
“Shili, is it convenient now? I have something to discuss with you.”
“Is it not okay here?”
“I’d prefer to talk to you alone.”
“I must check with him first.”
Qin Shili waved her hand, seeking Lin Nuo’s opinion, as if the decisions were his.
Qin Shili also anticipated that Han Fairy would want to talk to her.
Lin Nuo nodded, yeah, you go ahead and talk to her, just don’t keep clinging to me.
“Alright, Master, let’s step aside for a moment.”
At that moment, Qin Shili finally let go of Lin Nuo’s arm and went to talk with Han Fairy. In their home, outside, it was still Lin Nuo’s call.
Lin Nuo breathed a sigh of relief, finally free from her clinginess.
I must say, Han Fairy had her uses; Qin Shili’s constant attachment was a bit inconvenient.
The scene now left Liu Shuqin and Lin Nuo standing together. Liu Shuqin played with her fingers and dress, hesitating, feeling quite awkward and unnatural.
Normally, when she saw him, she would be warm and chatty, but now she was entirely quiet, like a little girl, fidgeting nervously with her dress.
She glanced at Lin Nuo, then lowered her head, seemingly troubled over something.
Lin Nuo thought about finding a place to enjoy some tea and snacks, but with Liu Shuqin here, he worried she might get into trouble.
It was just awkward standing in silence.
Forget it, I ought to find a place to snack—this grand occasion, the Qin family would surely provide plenty of treats and drinks.
Honestly, Lin Nuo liked this scene; he loved dashing around in a crowd to get free food, snacking here and there, it was satisfying.
Just as Lin Nuo was about to wander off, Liu Shuqin spoke up.
“Junior Martial Brother.”
“Hmm? What is it?”
“You’re coming with me!”
Liu Shuqin directly grabbed Lin Nuo’s hand and dragged him in one direction, leaving Lin Nuo bewildered; what was happening? First silence, now she’s pulling my hand and running like a madwoman.
If it were anyone else, Lin Nuo would’ve shrugged them off and slapped them away—get the heck out of my way.
But for Liu Shuqin, he generally wouldn’t treat her with malice.
……
Han Fairy took Qin Shili away from the crowd to find a private spot to talk.
“Shili, you know why I’m looking for you.”
“I know.”
“Why so sudden?”
“It’s not sudden; I’ve loved him for a while, just made it public now,” Qin Shili said coldly, showing no enthusiasm simply because her teacher was present.
“When did this happen? I know he pursued you, but you used to ignore him. Is it because he recently made remarkable achievements?”
“Something like that. Being with him is great; he’s the strongest male disciple of the Xuanyun Sect, and I’m the strongest female disciple. It’s a strong alliance, and the Xuanyun Sect’s prestige will surely rise significantly,” Qin Shili stated.
“Shili, I have no reason to interfere in your marriage. Your senior and junior sisters have good feelings towards Lin Nuo; do you know about this?”
“I know.”
“This could lead to discord among you all.”
“Then let it be; I won’t give way to them,” Qin Shili said firmly, determined about Lin Nuo, regardless of the harmony among sister disciples.
“There has been discord within the sect, with schemes and dark tactics occurring before. As your mentor, I don’t wish for you all to face problems. Given the current turmoil in the world, all of you are promising disciples with high hopes on your shoulders. If trouble arises now, it would be such a pity. You can get married, but you must focus on your cultivation.”
“Marriage doesn’t interfere with cultivation. Besides, being with Lin Nuo has also led to my progress in cultivation,” Qin Shili coldly retorted.
