〈 Chapter 718 〉 Part 2, Chapter 5, Section 12
Jeolpung Gate.
The precursor to what is commonly known as a Dimensional Gate is akin to a natural disaster. Just as animals flee before an earthquake, all Monsters in the vicinity of an impending Gate opening will evacuate and run for their lives.
Creatures know. They instinctively understand that the location where a Gate opens is dangerous. They know that the Monsters spewing forth from it aren’t ordinary Monsters, but rather beasts consumed by a bloodthirsty frenzy. These creatures possess no rationality, prioritizing humans as prey but not shying away from devouring fellow Monsters either.
Thus, most precursors to Dimensional Gates are identified through the erratic behavior of Monsters. The suffering inflicted on humanity begins with dealing with Monsters fleeing to other areas, escalating further once the Gate fully opens.
Guh-guh-guh.
However, the movement of Monsters surrounding London now was markedly different.
Grrr…
Monsters creating violent winds prowled around, growling and keeping watch over everything attempting to escape from London. From E-Rank Monsters to renowned A-Rank Monsters, they surrounded London as if following someone’s orders.
“H-his movements…”
Penward sweated profusely at the sight of the red dots encircling London. For some reason, his intuition shouted “[Correct.]” but unease continued to assail him about whether his judgment was truly accurate. What if he was wrong? If this was just a false alarm? If he caused unnecessary panic leading to great harm in London or even Britain, would he end up being dismissed like so many others?
[Association President! An emergency call has come in! Code BWP!]
“!!”
Penward barely suppressed a scream. Indeed, ‘he’ hadn’t abandoned Britain or humanity. Despite rumors of his death or hiding in fear over the past few months, the Commander had proudly reappeared!
“To all Heroes and Hunters within Britain, and all Special Ability users!”
Penward knew he’d made the best, fastest, most precise, and most correct decision possible.
“All command authority transferred to the Commander! All Special Ability users will now follow the orders of Code BWP, the Commander, for operations!!”
Passing the buck.
With Penward’s thunderous proclamation, the sluggish movements of the Heroes gradually began to organize. Though envious of their efficiency compared to his own, Penward understood his limitations well.
He was a politician, not a Monster specialist. Through the support of those who valued his political skills and his backers, he’d somehow ended up in charge of Monster response, despite lacking any special abilities or strength to hunt Monsters himself.
Therefore, he made the choice he excelled at most – placing the right person in the right position.
The situation in Britain required nothing more than the leadership and command skills of someone who could unite Special Ability users into cohesive action.
Thus, Penward entrusted everything to him. Among countless Commanders before, this one alone earned his complete trust.
“Please… protect this place.”
Code BWP.
[Are you ready?]
Under the final command of humanity’s ultimate Commander, Special Ability users charged en masse against the Monsters surrounding London.
*
“The Dimensional Gate still has time before opening. Heh.”
Based on the patterns and flow of Magic Power, the Gate would open around 4:11 PM. That left approximately an hour remaining.
And this time was perfect for Heroes to deal with the Monsters blockading London, take a brief rest, then launch a raid against the Wind Dragon.
Or rather, correction: Jeolpung Raid.
The Wind Dragon coming through the Gate will die under the name ‘Jeolpung (WindShear).’
“Ahh, naming things is tough.”
The Commander has the authority to assign codenames. And I’ll use that authority to give this incoming Wind Dragon the name Jeolpung before eliminating it.
This isn’t because I dislike Jeolpung. It’s not about preferences regarding heroines’ charm, relationships with other heroines, cheerful personalities versus dark/arrogant/mysterious/obstinate ones.
Simply put, Penril is the most efficient choice for my current playstyle. Who else but Penril would dress as Fenris like this?
“Penris, how’s the Monster situation?”
“The Commander’s too good, making it hard to compete, nya.”
Penril and I worked back-to-back, vigorously manipulating Magic Power. I issued commands to Commanders across London through Magical Gear while Penris controlled Monsters with her unique powers.
After breaking the Rosetta Stone and obtaining the Cube, with spare time anyway, I engaged Penris in a contest of command skills. Essentially, we were playing an RTS game using real-world entities.
Of course, I have no intention of causing casualties among Special Ability users. Penris knows this, so she actively directed Monsters to attack them.
“Aww, that was a missed opportunity, nya.”
“Pfft, impossible. How could they defeat me when I’m commanding?”
“So can I send in more, nya?”
“As many as you want.”
Penris began summoning Monsters from outside London one by one. The red dots forming the front line centered on London grew thicker, and the morale of Special Ability users started to drop.
Especially, the cumulative fatigue of Heroes was no joke. Not only were they stressed from evacuating citizens, but combating high-rank Monsters itself was extremely taxing.
And these individuals needed to preserve both stamina and Magic Power completely to succeed. The Monsters were merely the first wave; the real event was the Wind Gate starting at 4:11 PM.
“Feels like our stamina and Magic Power might be depleted before the Wind Dragon arrives, nya. Maybe we should admit defeat soon?”
Penris swiped my pants with her tail. Even though it was a Magic Power-based tail, its physical form stimulated me like fingers.
“No way. If I lose, you’ll do whatever you want, right?”
“Heheh, obviously! Raon and I will play with your… ahem, Commander stick as much as we want, nya.”
“Not happening.”
I’m the one who gets to have fun, so I can’t lose this fight.
“I guess it’s time to cheat.”
“Nya?”
I transmitted a single order to the Hunters who had been holding back. Though just one sentence, their actions became far more aggressive in eliminating Monsters.
“Tch, Hunters’ attacks sharpened up, nya.”
“Just securing their bonuses.”
– Core distribution based on damage meters.
I decided to pay the Hunters. To do that, I needed thoroughly verified metrics, which naturally couldn’t be confirmed by the Association…
[Monster ‘Tempest Lion’ Contribution Rate]
1. <Queen> 42%
2. <Void Emperor> 13%
3. <Blaster> 12%
…
‘This game system is sweet, innit?’
Since all Special Ability users were under my command, I could see all statistics. After the battlefield settled, sending these quantified damage metrics to the Association would ensure smooth operations.
“Guh, Monsters are starting to retreat, nya.”
“Well, there are more Special Ability users gathered in London than Monsters, so it can’t be helped. Penris, let’s wrap this up.”
“Understood, nya. My loss, nya.”
Penris acknowledged defeat. This was a battle destined for my victory from the start.
There are two things a Heroine cannot win against the Protagonist: bed battles and command contests.
Romantically or simulation RPG-wise, I can defeat everyone except one person.
Kiieeek!!
Monsters began collapsing one by one with cries of anguish. We hid ourselves within a Barrier as cracks started appearing in the center of London.
“Penris, do you know why I provided Magic Power at Big Ben?”
“Why, nya?”
“Because it served as the coordinates.”
Currently…
Big Ben’s peak was covered in fluids Penril had secreted during her climax. Assuming bodily fluids like sweat would naturally dry, I hadn’t bothered to clean them up.
“They’re coming.”
An entity followed the scent of Mint Chocolate.
“Wind Dragon, appear.”
Kiaoooom——!
The Wind Dragon shattered the seams of reality itself, landing atop Big Ben with a roar.
“So… does that mean it appeared because you were getting frisky there, nya?”
“Exactly. Of course, there’s also…”
I pointed downward.
“…my essence. It smelled that and came.”
Commander’s essence.
Penris’ essence.
“Why does the Dimensional Gate open directly above London and Big Ben? Simple.”
Because we had sex there.
Aaaaaaang——–
Wind Gate, activated.
