Chapter 72

Chapter 72: Natural Correction.

Three fairy deer substantially filled the abdomen of the Male Fire Dragon, while the sensory hunger was suppressed by the soul of a different kind.

Jié Jié could feel himself becoming undeniably stronger; the disintegration of the Hōng Lóng form had traded for adaptability to Dragon Attribute Energy in other forms.

The threshold where Dragon Qi could harm the body had been raised. As long as this threshold wasn’t broken, the damage from Dragon Attribute Energy remained within the normal wear and tear of regular activities.

He could now minutely utilize Dragon Attribute Energy.

This gain even made Jié Jié consider trying to blow up another form to see what would happen, but alas, he didn’t have a penchant for self-torture.

That would be one death.

Of course, this doesn’t mean every totem equals a life.

This time was special, much like the past Terror Tyrant, dying from the erosion of Dragon Qi into the body—it was suicide.

If he were blown up, well, that would just be getting blown up. Jie Jie also thought about committing suicide right before being obliterated, but…

But surviving this time was purely because Golden Thunder King had relocated with his Thunder Wolf Dragons. If they’d stayed behind to deliver the final blow…

Tsk tsk, then it would’ve really been over.

There’s still so much scenery left unseen. Ignoring the allergy signals coursing through his body, Jie Jie flapped his wings and ascended into the sky.

The boundary of the primeval forest halted at the waist of the mountain range. Beyond the peaks lay the Abyss.

His line of sight crossed the Abyss, and far away, amidst the dark clouds, there seemed to be towering blue structures.

Coral Land Plateau.

But Jie Jie’s goal wasn’t there; rather, it was the Thunder Wolf Dragon Valley below the mountain range.

He still wanted to check on the situation.

The numerous footprints and scents of Thunder Wolf Dragons had grown stale due to lack of updates.

After circling twice and finding no ambushes, Jie Jie descended.

He landed on the rock where Golden Thunder King once crouched.

Migration.

The emptiness here whispered this word to Jie Jie.

Was it caused by the song of the Sky Huang Ground Crying Dragon? It should be.

He also thought of the Savage Jaw Dragon that hunted Thunder Wolf Dragons together, and the Hōng Lóng he killed in the forest.

Thinking about it, even if he hadn’t done anything untoward, the number of Thunder Wolf Dragons in this forest would decrease naturally.

Was he disheartened that all he did was something that would’ve happened naturally anyway?

No.

Had he not killed the Hōng Lóng, that clever young Savage Jaw Dragon would have lost its life, eliminating any possibility of teaming up with the Female Fire Dragon for hunting.

Had he not taken the place of the Hōng Lóng, this forest wouldn’t have been spared from its destruction.

Perhaps, the migration of the Thunder Wolf Dragon clan wasn’t solely due to the song; his impact on the Thunder Wolf Dragon population was also significant.

He had control over an event, gaining a sense of participation and reward.

A sense of being part of nature, and the reward of becoming stronger.

It was unfortunate though, Golden Thunder King must have had some Heavenly Jade on him.

“Hrrrrr~”

A series of cautious growls interrupted Jie Jie’s thoughts.

The Male Fire Dragon turned his head on the giant rock belonging to Golden Thunder King.

A Thunder Wolf Dragon was guarding its too-young-to-migrate offspring in the corner, its threatening growl gradually turning into a wolf howl piercing the night sky.

It was calling for help.

Echoing howls came from elsewhere in the valley, and another female Thunder Wolf Dragon arrived.

It seems, when some dragons leave, others stay.

This forest couldn’t exist without Thunder Wolf Dragons; was this also part of nature?

Jie Jie stared at the young dragon resembling a puppy behind the Thunder Wolf Dragon.

Another echoing howl came from afar.

The Male Fire Dragon didn’t do anything to the orphaned mother and child, flapping his wings and ascending into the air.

In the air, he saw the returning male Thunder Wolf Dragon, Big Lei, who had led him to join the clan.

Unfortunately, he was a traitor.

Can maintaining nature be called being a traitor?

Jie Jie left the valley; he also needed to find his own family’s young ones.

“An—¡”

He raised his head and let out a loud roar, accidentally pulling at his wound, stumbling in the air and tearing more wounds, finally making an awkward emergency landing onto the ground.

After resting for a moment, he took off again, casually hunting along the way while searching for the young dragon. Unexpectedly, he saw the young Savage Jaw Dragon driving a herd of Herbivore Dragons from somewhere.

It was incredible; the first time he saw Herbivore Dragons in this forest was when they were driven by their biggest predator, the Savage Jaw Dragon.

Jie Jie landed on the path where the Herbivore Dragons were fleeing, only grabbing one before flying off.

The Savage Jaw Dragon also seized the opportunity to open its massive mouth and bite down on one, then looked up at Jie Jie while holding the Herbivore Dragon in its mouth.

In a certain sense, the Savage Jaw Dragon’s pursuit of Herbivore Dragons seemed similar to how Jie Jie pursued Thunder Wolf Dragons in his Hōng Lóng form.

The Savage Jaw Dragon’s greed caused considerable destruction to the forest, but few noticed that its expulsion allowed Herbivore Dragons to settle elsewhere instead of overpopulating one area.

And now its act of driving them back seemed to improve its hunting grounds.

This was beneficial for the forest, with only the Herbivore Dragons suffering.

Jie Jie nodded towards the Savage Jaw Dragon, recalling the gaze of Golden Thunder King earlier. He believed that even after transformation, he could still distinguish identities by the eyes.

The Savage Jaw Dragon and the Fire Dragon stared at each other before parting ways.

Seeing too many handsome Thunder Wolf Dragons might downgrade one’s aesthetics, making even the Savage Jaw Dragon appear clear-eyed and handsome.

“Ang!”

While flying steadily, Jie Jie carefully called out.

“Ang!”

After flying around for a bit, he finally received a response from the young dragons.

The scarred Fire Dragon dropped two Herbivore Dragons and made an unsteady emergency landing in the woods. Seeing all four young dragons present, he bit into half a Herbivore Dragon and immediately fell asleep.

The young dragons marveled at the countless scars on Jie Jie’s body as they began eating the Herbivore Dragon meat, but the four adolescent Fire Dragons only managed to eat half.

It seemed they had good harvests during Jie Jie’s absence.

Sleep was the best repair for the body, and unlike previous times when he woke up after four or five hours, he slept until dawn this time.

Ignoring the dangerous signals coursing through his entire body, Jie Jie stood up amidst the pain, surprisingly biting into most of the remaining Herbivore Dragon.

The young dragons, seeing their food reserves gone, looked pitifully at him.

Jie Jie flapped his wings and flew off, soon catching a wild boar and throwing it to them.

Looking around, he realized the luggage he carried had been lost somewhere.

It wasn’t a big deal; most of the items inside could be collected again, except for the eggshell he used as a pot.

Eggshells could also be re-collected; they grew in Flying Dragon nests.

Watching the young dragons finish eating, Jie Jie tapped them gently with his tail in his Fire Dragon form, leading them to stroll down the road.

This time, they weren’t merely wandering within the area they had stayed for so long; they were heading towards a farther direction.

If viewed from the sky, they were moving westward through the primeval forest, towards the northwest centered around the Ancient Tree.

An Ancient Dragon Person walking among the treetops looked down and spotted an extremely crude bag, materials scattered all over the ground.

And… half an eggshell?

This Ancient Dragon Person picked up the secret medicine first, confusedly caressing it.
