Chapter 72: Fusion Arrival
“Ugh, it stinks! I’ve had enough of this party. It should have been a fun experience since it’s my first time attending such an event. But why did it turn into a disaster like this…”
Aierjisi looked at her dirty clothes with disdain. Yake beside her was equally covered in grime. The reason for their messy state? Well, the place they found themselves in was just a filthy mess.
“Alright, enough complaining. We should hurry and find a place to wash up.”
Yake urged the Little Princess to stop whining. Rather than grumble, it was better to take action and rush back to the City Lord’s Mansion for a nice hot bath to scrub away this disgusting muck.
“I don’t need you to tell me! That damn Giant threw us both in here! I swear, I won’t forgive him; I will absolutely take him down!”
Aierjisi grit her teeth, wishing she could return to the Giant’s side immediately and skin him alive.
Originally, she and Yake were suppressing that Giant quite well. But suddenly, the base erupted with power, flinging them both away. After soaring through the sky for a bit, they ended up crashing into this location.
Yes, they had fallen into a garbage dump. The two of them had spectacularly landed in a pile of trash, and now their bodies reeked of garbage. For Aierjisi, who had a cleanliness obsession, this was utterly intolerable. The thought of smelling like trash was worse than death.
“Huh? What’s that? Why does it feel like something’s going wrong over there?”
Yake glanced up at a section of the sky not far away. While the sky around them was clear, that one area had turned dark with ominous clouds, occasionally lit up by blue lightning strikes.
“Ah? It really does seem like something’s happening. I can smell the stench of the Adrian People getting stronger.”
Aierjisi agreed, sensing that something serious was brewing at that spot, with the stench of the Adrian People even more pungent than A Jie’s. Could it be that A Jie suddenly exploded with power like that Giant? Or was Gilbaris personally taking action?
Whatever the case, it seemed that the City Lord and Yin were in a perilous situation. They needed to hurry back to support them.
“Let’s go, Yake. We need to check out what’s going on over there.”
“Got it.”
Aierjisi and Yake hurried away from the garbage dump toward the area where the disturbance occurred.
Meanwhile, rewind five minutes earlier…
“Alright, that’s enough of tormenting you. Yin, come help. Let’s lift him back and hand him over to the guards.”
“Okay, I got it.”
Just as Yin and the City Lord were about to hoist the battered A Jie back, three blue orbs suddenly flew out from the bodies of the three defeated Magical Beasts.
“What the heck are these?!”
“I have no idea. But for some reason, just looking at them gives me a bad feeling.”
The City Lord and Yin looked up at the three blue orbs swirling menacingly above A Jie. Their instincts were screaming that these orbs were extremely dangerous.
After circling for a bit, the three orbs dived into A Jie’s body.
“Ugh… Ah…!!”
A Jie screamed in agony. His body seemed unable to handle the power of these three blue orbs. The force building up inside him felt like it was about to burst him apart.
“This is bad! We need to get out of here. This guy’s in serious trouble.”
The City Lord saw at a glance that A Jie was in a very odd state. Just to be safe, he and Yin should keep their distance from him.
“Understood.”
Without hesitation, Yin dropped A Jie and fled with the City Lord, leaving A Jie alone on the ground, writhing in pain.
“Ah… ah… ah!!!”
Finally, that force shattered A Jie’s body like an eggshell, revealing his true form.
“What in the world is that…”
Upon seeing the being birthed from A Jie’s body, the City Lord felt himself nearly losing consciousness. It was just too horrifying. Was he trapped in some kind of scary horror game?
“I don’t know. But one thing’s for sure: that thing is definitely our enemy. City Lord, please give the order to attack.”
Yin looked at the creature, waiting for the City Lord to issue the command.
“No. Let’s wait a moment and see what that thing does. We’ll act after that.”
The City Lord was hesitant to charge in against this completely new enemy. Even though he had specially created this ace, he wasn’t sure if it would be enough to confront it.
“But City Lord! That thing seems to be moving toward the city! If we let it proceed like this, more citizens will be harmed!”
Seeing the creature starting to advance, Yin prepared to intercept it but was stopped by the City Lord grabbing his shoulder.
“Wait! This monster’s on me. You hurry and gather other guards to guide the citizens to safety.”
“But if it’s just you facing that thing alone…”
“Don’t worry about me! I’m the City Lord! Protecting the citizens is my duty. Plus, I’m wearing this armor; I won’t go down easily. Now go! Quickly!”
“I understand. I’ll go. After helping the citizens escape, I’ll bring the guards to support you.”
Seeing the resolve in the City Lord’s eyes, Yin took off.
“Oh man. This party has been such a hassle today! If it were up to me, I wouldn’t want to fight this battle at all.”
Staring at the terrifying alien creature, cold sweat beaded on the City Lord’s forehead. If possible, he didn’t want to face this creature in battle, but alas, as the City Lord, protecting the citizens was his responsibility. He had to step up.
“Hey! You there! Let’s have a nice chat and settle this properly!”
Although unsure if A Jie’s consciousness remained within the creature, if it was birthed from A Jie, it should inherit his will and desire for revenge against him, right?
Sure enough, the creature spun around, its myriad eyes locking onto the City Lord.
“Wow, wow, this is quite something! It’s my first time being gazed at by so many eyes at once!”
Looking at the creature covered in a multitude of eyes, the City Lord felt a chill run down his spine. Thank goodness he wasn’t someone with a fear of clusters; otherwise, just looking at it might have been enough to do him in.
