Chapter 74: Downstream Flow.
Jié Jié descended from the sky, landing heavily on the Male Fire Dragon that had provoked him.
“Aaaooowww~”
The Fire Dragon let out a cry for mercy.
Jié Jié glared down at it as he lay atop its body. Suddenly, he remembered it had been ages since he last tasted Fire Dragon meat.
The red shell transformed into an oppressive black hue after a long absence.
The monstrous beak struck down with ferocity, pecking through the prey’s shell and prying it open without hesitation. The second peck followed immediately, destroying its nervous system.
The Black Wolf Bird pried off pieces of the Fire Dragon’s shell, revealing bloody flesh beneath.
Lifting his head slightly, Jie Jie signaled to the young dragons who hesitated before approaching to feed on the kill.
Family is family, but feeding doesn’t change that.
Jié Jié casually took a couple of bites of the Fire Dragon meat. With this battle, he had finally shaken off the despondent recovery period.
He leapt off the male Fire Dragon and transformed into a Thunder Wolf Dragon.
Then, noticeable local changes occurred in the Thunder Wolf Dragon’s body.
A horn on its head began to grow outward in a twisting motion, pointing towards the sky as the wolf dragon raised its head. What was once merely decorative now exuded immense tension and aggression, contrasting beautifully with the unchanged other horn to create an asymmetrical aesthetic.
At the same time, golden lightning flashed through its fur, styling it to stand up proudly.
But there were no more differences compared to an ordinary Thunder Wolf Dragon until…
“AAOWWW!”
As the howl echoed, brilliant golden lightning began to flash on its back.
Thunder coursed through its body, resonating with the pulse of life itself.
The superior and stronger body could endure greater electric currents, stimulating energy production to unleash even stronger electricity.
Feeling the current purify his body and alleviate fatigue, though the wounds still felt some pain as the current flowed through them, they quickly adjusted according to muscular reactions.
The perfect amount of current was promoting wound healing.
All that was needed was protein and fat.
Even if his heart stopped, wouldn’t the ever-present thunder bring him back?
Jié Jié recalled how Golden Thunder King’s natural pacemaker saved him countless times when he was old.
With a slight flip of his palm, he saw the thunder balls gathering towards the fatty areas of his claws.
This was the biggest difference between the Golden Thunder King and ordinary Thunder Wolf Dragons: special golden thunder and three unique punches.
If only those initial three punches had landed solidly, none of what followed would have happened.
Jié Jié sniffed the air, intending to find water to check his current state. However, he discovered a serious problem.
The crackling electricity all over his body reacted chemically with the air, especially the moisture, seemingly dissociating it and preventing him from finding water by humidity.
The surrounding smells were also affected, though the Thunder Wolf Dragon’s sensitive nose was still effective. Other monsters might struggle to distinguish anything by scent.
If used for stealth, leaving no trace of smell could be advantageous.
But if the target were the Golden Thunder King…
Jié Jié turned his head, looking at the golden thunder on his back which didn’t waver according to his will, responding silently to the deafening silence.
Stealth was impossible.
Even entering dense forests caused the current to spread everywhere.
No wonder the Golden Thunder King rarely ventured out.
Regarding the true electrified state, Jie Jie imitated the Golden Thunder King by howling to the heavens and shaking his fur, but nothing changed.
There must be long-term resident Thunder Light Bugs in one’s body for this. Apparently, it wasn’t meant for him.
Since the Golden Thunder King could accelerate wound recovery due to electric shocks, he decided to continue moving forward with this body.
Walking along wide roads,
The Golden Thunder King tore into the Fire Dragon’s meat to fill his stomach.
Due to his massive size, the current seemed to conduct to the young dragons, causing them to flee with cries of pain.
“Hmm.”
Enduring the loneliness of kingship, Jie Jie quietly made room for the young dragons, pulling the Fire Dragon’s wing to lie down and eat.
Ignoring the detailed features of the Thunder Wolf Dragon, it resembled a large dog gnawing on bones.
Crispily crunching the Fire Dragon’s last scale, Jie Jie stood up and continued walking forward.
Without even a single jade-like scale, it dared to provoke him.
The young dragons carefully avoided the thunder, following from afar.
Such was the loneliness of a king.
…
As summer approached its end, the tour group led by Jie Jie arrived at a vast river.
Looking north towards the mountains, one could see the river originating from the gaps between the peaks, cutting through lush terrain and flowing grandly toward the ocean.
With his wounds fully recovered, Jie Jie lowered his head and saw a handsome Fire Dragon in the river.
The crown on its head pointed backward like an arc blade, with faint black patterns flowing in the seams of the shell’s design, appearing mysterious against the red backdrop.
Its wings unfolded, the patterns on the wing membranes having no rules besides symmetry. Upon closer inspection, the thick wing membrane surface was like felt, showing strength.
And the raised chest was divided by black patterns into robust pectoral muscles.
Such a handsome male Fire Dragon would surely attract many female Fire Dragons.
Jie Jie turned around on the riverbank, admiring his reflection in the river.
Four bull-sized Fire Dragons also squeezed into the reflection, each in different poses.
Unfortunately, there were no photographs to commemorate the moment.
Lifting his gaze from the river to the opposite bank, it looked identical to the forest behind him.
So, he decided not to cross.
The male Fire Dragon jumped into the river, creating a huge splash. When Jie Jie surfaced, he had already transformed into a Lamp Fish Dragon.
The Lamp Fish Dragon’s flat round body grew larger, and the lamp sphere swayed to signal the Fire Dragons to jump aboard.
The young dragons hopped on, only causing the Lamp Fish Dragon’s body to sink slightly.
The long tail stabilized their direction as Jie Jie carried the young dragons downstream.
They were expected to reach the coastal plains directly, soon returning to the Ancient Tree Valley.
“Slap!”
With a flick of his tail, a water beast landed on the Lamp Fish Dragon’s back, crashing onto the young dragons before they quickly reacted to pin it down as a meal.
After the young dragons finished eating, Jie Jie submerged slightly, allowing the river to flow past their knees, washing away the remains of the water beast.
Maintaining cleanliness of the body was very important!
Flowing downstream, the scenery along the banks passed by like a blur. Occasionally, through the trees, shadows of large monsters could be seen moving.
In the water, apart from common Bite Fish and water beasts, in the distance, Water Dragons leaped out of the water, evoking fond memories in Jie Jie’s mind.

When you see a mighty male fire dragon soaring through the sky, you can't confidently say it’s truly a fire dragon—because it might have been a rare silver fire dragon before you noticed it.
If you suspect it was a silver fire dragon, it could have been a spinosaurus even earlier.
When someone tells you it was once a spinosaurus, you still can’t be sure—because before others saw it, it might have been an elder extinction dragon.
You may feel certain it’s a flying dragon by now, yet you can't assert that either—because underground where you can't see, it might actually be an ancient mountain dragon.
So, what is it really?
In the beginning,
It was just a hairy spider.
